1In jenen Tagen, als sehr viel Volk zugegen war und sie nichts zu essen hatten, rief Jesus seine Jünger zu sich und sprach zu ihnen:
2Mich jammert das Volk; denn sie verharren nun schon drei Tage bei mir und haben nichts zu essen.
3Und wenn ich sie nüchtern nach Hause entlasse, so werden sie auf dem Wege erliegen; denn etliche von ihnen sind von weither gekommen.
4Und seine Jünger antworteten ihm: Woher könnte jemand diese hier in der Wüste mit Brot sättigen?
5Und er fragte sie: Wie viele Brote habt ihr? Sie sprachen: Sieben.
6Und er befahl dem Volke, sich auf die Erde niederzusetzen, und nahm die sieben Brote, dankte, brach sie und gab sie seinen Jüngern, damit sie sie vorlegten. Und sie legten sie dem Volke vor.
7Sie hatten auch noch einige Fischlein; und nach einem Segensspruch befahl er, auch diese vorzulegen.
8Und sie aßen und wurden satt und hoben an übriggebliebenen Brocken noch sieben Körbe auf.
9Es waren ihrer etwa viertausend; und er entließ sie.
10Und alsbald stieg er mit seinen Jüngern in das Schiff und kam in die Gegend von Dalmanutha.
11Und die Pharisäer gingen hinaus und fingen an, sich mit ihm zu besprechen, indem sie von ihm ein Zeichen vom Himmel forderten, um ihn auf die Probe zu stellen.
12Und er seufzte in seinem Geiste und sprach: Warum fordert dieses Geschlecht ein Zeichen? Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es wird diesem Geschlecht kein Zeichen gegeben werden.
13Und er ließ sie, stieg wieder in das Schiff und fuhr ans jenseitige Ufer.
14Und sie hatten vergessen, Brote mitzunehmen, und hatten nur ein Brot bei sich im Schiff.
15Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Sehet zu, hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und vor dem Sauerteig des Herodes!
16Und sie besprachen sich untereinander und sagten: Weil wir kein Brot haben!
17Und als es Jesus merkte, sprach er zu ihnen: Was machet ihr euch Gedanken darüber, daß ihr kein Brot habt? Verstehet ihr noch nicht und begreifet ihr noch nicht? Habt ihr noch euer verhärtetes Herz?
18Habt Augen und sehet nicht, Ohren und höret nicht? Und denket ihr nicht daran,
19als ich die fünf Brote brach für die Fünftausend, wieviel Körbe voll Brocken ihr aufgehoben habt? Sie sprachen zu ihm: Zwölf!
20Und als ich die sieben für die Viertausend brach, wieviel Körbe voll Brocken habt ihr aufgehoben? Sie sprachen: Sieben!
21Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was seid ihr denn noch so unverständig?
22Und sie kommen nach Bethsaida; und man bringt einen Blinden zu ihm und bittet ihn, daß er ihn anrühre.
23Und er nahm den Blinden bei der Hand und führte ihn vor das Dorf hinaus, spie ihm in die Augen, legte ihm die Hände auf und fragte ihn, ob er etwas sähe.
24Und er blickte auf und sprach: Ich sehe die Leute, als sähe ich wandelnde Bäume!
25Hierauf legte er noch einmal die Hände auf seine Augen und ließ ihn aufblicken; und er wurde wieder hergestellt und sah alles deutlich.
26Und er schickte ihn in sein Haus und sprach: Du sollst nicht ins Dorf hineingehen, noch es jemandem im Dorfe sagen!
27Und Jesus ging samt seinen Jüngern hinaus in die Dörfer bei Cäsarea Philippi; und auf dem Wege fragte er seine Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Für wen halten mich die Leute?
28Sie antworteten: Die einen sagen, du seiest Johannes der Täufer; und andere, du seiest Elia; andere aber, du seiest einer der Propheten.
29Und er fragte sie: Ihr aber, für wen haltet ihr mich? Da antwortete Petrus und sprach zu ihm: Du bist der Christus!
30Und er gebot ihnen ernstlich, daß sie das niemandem von ihm sagen sollten.
31Und er fing an, sie zu lehren, daß des Menschen Sohn viel leiden und von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten verworfen und getötet werden müsse und nach drei Tagen wieder auferstehen.
32Und er redete das Wort ganz unverhohlen. Und Petrus nahm ihn beiseite und fing an, ihm zu wehren.
33Er aber wandte sich um und sah seine Jünger an und schalt den Petrus und sprach: Weiche hinter mich, Satan! Denn du denkst nicht göttlich, sondern menschlich!
34Und er rief das Volk samt seinen Jüngern zu sich und sprach zu ihnen: Wer mir nachkommen will, der verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf sich und folge mir nach!
35Denn wer seine Seele retten will, der wird sie verlieren; wer aber seine Seele verliert um meinetwillen und um des Evangeliums willen, der wird sie retten.
36Denn was hülfe es dem Menschen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne und büßte seine Seele ein?
37Oder was will ein Mensch zum Lösegeld seiner Seele geben?
38Denn wer sich meiner und meiner Worte schämt unter diesem ehebrecherischen und sündigen Geschlecht, dessen wird sich auch des Menschen Sohn schämen, wenn er kommen wird in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit den heiligen Engeln.

1EN aquellos días, como hubo gran gentío, y no tenían qué comer, Jesús llamó á sus discípulos, y les dijo:
2Tengo compasión de la multitud, porque ya hace tres días que están conmigo, y no tienen qué comer:
3Y si los enviare en ayunas á sus casas, desmayarán en el camino; porque algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.
4Y sus discípulos le respondieron: ¿De dónde podrá alguien hartar á estos de pan aquí en el desierto?
5Y les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
6Entonces mandó á la multitud que se recostase en tierra; y tomando los siete panes, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y dió á sus discípulos que los pusiesen delante: y los pusieron delante á la multitud.
7Tenían también unos pocos pececillos: y los bendijo, y mandó que también los pusiesen delante.
8Y comieron, y se hartaron: y levantaron de los pedazos que habían sobrado, siete espuertas.
9Y eran los que comieron, como cuatro mil: y los despidió.
10Y luego entrando en el barco con sus discípulos, vino á las partes de Dalmanutha.
11Y vinieron los Fariseos, y comenzaron á altercar con él, pidiéndole señal del cielo, tentándole.
12Y gimiendo en su espíritu, dice: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? De cierto os digo que no se dará señal á esta generación.
13Y dejándolos, volvió á entrar en el barco, y se fué de la otra parte.
14Y se habían olvidado de tomar pan, y no tenían sino un pan consigo en el barco.
15Y les mandó, diciendo: Mirad, guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos, y de la levadura de Herodes.
16Y altercaban los unos con los otros diciendo: Pan no tenemos.
17Y como Jesús lo entendió, les dice: ¿Qué altercáis, porque no tenéis pan? ¿no consideráis ni entendéis? ¿aun tenéis endurecido vuestro corazón?
18¿Teniendo ojos no veis, y teniendo oídos no oís? ¿y no os acordáis?
19Cuando partí los cinco panes entre cinco mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Doce.
20Y cuando los siete panes entre cuatro mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
21Y les dijo: ¿Cómo aun no entendéis?
22Y vino á Bethsaida; y le traen un ciego, y le ruegan que le tocase.
23Entonces, tomando la mano del ciego, le sacó fuera de la aldea; y escupiendo en sus ojos, y poniéndole las manos encima, le preguntó si veía algo.
24Y él mirando, dijo: Veo los hombres, pues veo que andan como árboles.
25Luego le puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y le hizo que mirase; y fué restablecido, y vió de lejos y claramente á todos.
26Y envióle á su casa, diciendo: No entres en la aldea, ni lo digas á nadie en la aldea.
27Y salió Jesús y sus discípulos por las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo. Y en el camino preguntó á sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?
28Y ellos respondieron: Juan Bautista; y otros, Elías; y otros, Alguno de los profetas.
29Entonces él les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y respondiendo Pedro, le dice: Tú eres el Cristo.
30Y les apercibió que no hablasen de él á ninguno.
31Y comenzó á enseñarles, que convenía que el Hijo del hombre padeciese mucho, y ser reprobado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar después de tres días.
32Y claramente decía esta palabra. Entonces Pedro le tomó, y le comenzó á reprender.
33Y él, volviéndose y mirando á sus discípulos, riñó á Pedro, diciendo: Apártate de mí, Satanás; porque no sabes las cosas que son de Dios, sino las que son de los hombres.
34Y llamando á la gente con sus discípulos, les dijo: Cualquiera que quisiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese á sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
35Porque el que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí y del evangelio, la salvará.
36Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y pierde su alma?
37¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
38Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adulterina y pecadora, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará también de él, cuando vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.

1In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
13And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
14Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
17And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
27And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
28And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
33But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
34And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

1In those days, when there was a very great multitude, and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to himself and said to them,
2“I have compassion on the multitude, because they have stayed with me now three days and have nothing to eat.
3If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, for some of them have come a long way.”
4His disciples answered him, “From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?”
5He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.”
6He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the multitude.
7They also had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.
8They ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets of broken pieces that were left over.
9Those who had eaten were about four thousand. Then he sent them away.
10Immediately he entered into the boat with his disciples and came into the region of Dalmanutha.
11The Pharisees came out and began to question him, seeking from him a sign from heaven and testing him.
12He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Most certainly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
13He left them, and again entering into the boat, departed to the other side.
14They forgot to take bread; and they didn’t have more than one loaf in the boat with them.
15He warned them, saying, “Take heed: beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”
16They reasoned with one another, saying, “It’s because we have no bread.”
17Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, “Why do you reason that it’s because you have no bread? Don’t you perceive yet or understand? Is your heart still hardened?
18Having eyes, don’t you see? Having ears, don’t you hear? Don’t you remember?
19When I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him, “Twelve.”
20“When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him, “Seven.”
21He asked them, “Don’t you understand yet?”
22He came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him.
23He took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village. When he had spat on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
24He looked up, and said, “I see men, but I see them like walking trees.”
25Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. He looked intently, and was restored, and saw everyone clearly.
26He sent him away to his house, saying, “Don’t enter into the village, nor tell anyone in the village.”
27Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that I am?”
28They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, but others, one of the prophets.”
29He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
30He commanded them that they should tell no one about him.
31He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32He spoke to them openly. Peter took him and began to rebuke him.
33But he, turning around and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”
34He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.
36For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
37For what will a man give in exchange for his life?
38For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
