1Und sogleich frühmorgens fertigten die Hohenpriester mit den Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten und (somit) der gesamte Hohe Rat den (endgültigen) Beschluß aus, ließen Jesus fesseln und abführen und übergaben ihn dem Pilatus.
2Dieser befragte ihn: »Bist du der König der Juden?« Er antwortete ihm mit den Worten: »Ja, ich bin es.«
3Die Hohenpriester brachten dann viele Anklagen gegen ihn vor;
4da fragte Pilatus ihn nochmals: »Entgegnest du nichts? Höre nur, was sie alles gegen dich vorbringen!«
5Jesus aber gab keine Antwort mehr, so daß Pilatus sich verwunderte.
6An jedem Fest aber pflegte er ihnen einen Gefangenen freizugeben, den sie sich erbaten.
7Nun saß damals ein unter dem Namen Barabbas bekannter Mensch im Gefängnis mit den (anderen) Aufrührern, die beim Aufruhr einen Mord begangen hatten.
8So zog denn die Volksmenge hinauf und begann um das zu bitten, was er ihnen gewöhnlich gewährte.
9Pilatus antwortete ihnen mit der Frage: »Wollt ihr, daß ich euch den König der Juden freigebe?«
10Er war sich nämlich klar darüber geworden, daß die Hohenpriester ihn aus Neid überantwortet hatten.
11Die Hohenpriester aber hetzten die Volksmenge zu der Forderung auf, er möchte ihnen lieber den Barabbas freigeben.
12Nun richtete Pilatus nochmals die Frage an sie: »Was soll ich denn mit dem (Manne) machen, den ihr den König der Juden nennt?«
13Sie schrien zurück: »Laß ihn kreuzigen!«
14Pilatus entgegnete ihnen: »Was hat er denn Böses getan?« Da schrien sie noch lauter: »Laß ihn kreuzigen!«
15Um nun dem Volke den Willen zu tun, gab Pilatus ihnen den Barabbas frei, Jesus aber ließ er geißeln und übergab ihn dann (den Soldaten) zur Kreuzigung.
16Nun führten ihn die Soldaten ab in das Innere des Palastes – das ist nämlich die Statthalterei – und riefen die ganze Abteilung zusammen,
17dann legten sie ihm einen Purpur um, setzten ihm eine Dornenkrone auf, die sie geflochten hatten,
18und fingen an, ihm als König zu huldigen mit dem Zuruf: »Sei gegrüßt, Judenkönig!«
19Dabei schlugen sie ihn mit einem Rohr aufs Haupt, spien ihn an, warfen sich vor ihm auf die Knie nieder und brachten ihm Huldigungen dar.
20a Nachdem sie ihn so verspottet hatten, nahmen sie ihm den Purpurmantel wieder ab und legten ihm seine eigenen Kleider an. b Dann führten sie ihn zur Kreuzigung (aus der Stadt) hinaus
21und zwangen einen Vorübergehenden, Simon aus Cyrene, der vom Felde kam, den Vater Alexanders und des Rufus, ihm das Kreuz zu tragen.
22So brachten sie ihn nach dem Platz Golgatha, das bedeutet übersetzt ›Schädel(stätte)‹,
23und reichten ihm mit Myrrhe gewürzten Wein, den er aber nicht nahm.
24Dann kreuzigten sie ihn und verteilten seine Kleider unter sich, indem sie das Los um sie warfen, welches Stück jeder erhalten sollte.
25Es war aber die dritte Tagesstunde, als sie ihn kreuzigten;
26und die Inschrift mit der Angabe seiner Schuld lautete so: »Der König der Juden.«
27Mit ihm kreuzigten sie auch zwei Räuber, den einen zu seiner Rechten, den anderen zu seiner Linken.
28So wurde das Schriftwort erfüllt, das da lautet: »Er ist unter die Gesetzlosen gerechnet worden.«
29Und die Vorübergehenden schmähten ihn, schüttelten die Köpfe und riefen aus: »Ha du, der du den Tempel abbrichst und ihn in drei Tagen wieder aufbaust:
30hilf dir selbst und steige vom Kreuz herab!«
31Ebenso verhöhnten ihn auch die Hohenpriester untereinander samt den Schriftgelehrten mit den Worten: »Anderen hat er geholfen, sich selbst kann er nicht helfen!
32Der Gottgesalbte, der König von Israel, steige jetzt vom Kreuz herab, damit wir es sehen und gläubig werden!« Auch die (beiden) mit ihm Gekreuzigten schmähten ihn.
33Als dann aber die sechste Stunde gekommen war, trat eine Finsternis über das ganze Land ein bis zur neunten Stunde;
34und in der neunten Stunde rief Jesus mit lauter Stimme: »Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?«, das heißt übersetzt: »Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast du mich verlassen?«
35Als dies einige von den Dabeistehenden hörten, sagten sie: »Hört, er ruft den Elia!«
36Da lief einer hin, tränkte einen Schwamm mit Essig, steckte ihn an ein Rohr und wollte ihm zu trinken geben, wobei er sagte: »Laßt mich! Wir wollen doch sehen, ob Elia kommt, um ihn herabzunehmen!«
37Jesus aber stieß noch einen lauten Schrei aus und verschied dann.
38Da zerriß der Vorhang des Tempels in zwei Stücke von oben bis unten.
39Als aber der Hauptmann, der ihm gegenüber in der Nähe stand, ihn so verscheiden sah, erklärte er: »Dieser Mann ist wirklich Gottes Sohn gewesen.«
40Es waren aber auch Frauen da, die von weitem zuschauten, unter ihnen Maria von Magdala und Maria, die Mutter Jakobus des Kleinen und des Joses, und Salome,
41die ihm schon, als er noch in Galiläa war, nachgefolgt waren und ihm Dienste geleistet hatten, und noch viele andere (Frauen), die mit ihm nach Jerusalem hinaufgezogen waren.
42Als es nun bereits Spätnachmittag geworden war – es war nämlich Rüsttag, das ist der Tag vor dem Sabbat –,
43kam Joseph von Arimathäa, ein angesehener Ratsherr, der auch auf das Reich Gottes wartete, begab sich mit kühnem Entschluß zu Pilatus hinein und bat ihn um den Leichnam Jesu.
44Pilatus wunderte sich, daß er schon gestorben sein sollte; er ließ (deshalb) den Hauptmann zu sich rufen und fragte ihn, ob er schon lange tot sei;
45und als er von dem Hauptmann das Nähere erfahren hatte, schenkte er den Leichnam dem Joseph.
46Der kaufte nun Leinwand, nahm ihn (vom Kreuz) herab, wickelte ihn in die Leinwand und setzte ihn in einem Grabe bei, das in einen Felsen gehauen war; dann wälzte er einen Stein vor den Eingang des Grabes.
47Maria von Magdala aber und Maria, die Mutter des Joses, sahen sich genau den Ort an, wohin er gelegt worden war.

1Y LUEGO por la mañana, habiendo tenido consejo los príncipes de los sacerdotes con los ancianos, y con los escribas, y con todo el concilio, llevaron á Jesús atado, y le entregaron á Pilato.
2Y Pilato le preguntó: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos? Y respondiendo él, le dijo: Tú lo dices.
3Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes le acusaban mucho.
4Y le preguntó otra vez Pilato, diciendo: ¿No respondes algo? Mira de cuántas cosas te acusan.
5Mas Jesús ni aun con eso respondió; de modo que Pilato se maravillaba.
6Empero en el día de la fiesta les soltaba un preso, cualquiera que pidiesen.
7Y había uno, que se llamaba Barrabás, preso con sus compañeros de motín que habían hecho muerte en una revuelta.
8Y viniendo la multitud, comenzó á pedir hiciese como siempre les había hecho.
9Y Pilato les respondió, diciendo: ¿Queréis que os suelte al Rey de los Judíos?
10Porque conocía que por envidia le habían entregado los príncipes de los sacerdotes.
11Mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes incitaron á la multitud, que les soltase antes á Barrabás.
12Y respondiendo Pilato, les dice otra vez: ¿Qué pues queréis que haga del que llamáis Rey de los Judíos?
13Y ellos volvieron á dar voces: Crucifícale.
14Mas Pilato les decía: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho? Y ellos daban más voces: Crucifícale.
15Y Pilato, queriendo satisfacer al pueblo, les soltó á Barrabás, y entregó á Jesús, después de azotarle, para que fuese crucificado.
16Entonces los soldados le llevaron dentro de la sala, es á saber, al Pretorio; y convocan toda la cohorte.
17Y le visten de púrpura; y poniéndole una corona tejida de espinas,
18Comenzaron luego á saludarle: ¡Salve, Rey de los Judíos!
19Y le herían en la cabeza con una caña, y escupían en él, y le adoraban hincadas las rodillas.
20Y cuando le hubieron escarnecido, le desnudaron la púrpura, y le vistieron sus propios vestidos, y le sacaron para crucificarle.
21Y cargaron á uno que pasaba, Simón Cireneo, padre de Alejandro y de Rufo, que venía del campo, para que llevase su cruz.
22Y le llevan al lugar de Gólgotha, que declarado quiere decir: Lugar de la Calavera.
23Y le dieron á beber vino mezclado con mirra; mas él no lo tomó.
24Y cuando le hubieron crucificado, repartieron sus vestidos, echando suertes sobre ellos, qué llevaría cada uno.
25Y era la hora de las tres cuando le crucificaron.
26Y el título escrito de su causa era: EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.
27Y crucificaron con él dos ladrones, uno á su derecha, y el otro á su izquierda.
28Y se cumplió la Escritura, que dice: Y con los inicuos fué contado.
29Y los que pasaban le denostaban, meneando sus cabezas, y diciendo: ¡Ah! tú que derribas el templo de Dios, y en tres días lo edificas,
30Sálvate á ti mismo, y desciende de la cruz.
31Y de esta manera también los príncipes de los sacerdotes escarneciendo, decían unos á otros, con los escribas: A otros salvó, á sí mismo no se puede salvar.
32El Cristo, Rey de Israel, descienda ahora de la cruz, para que veamos y creamos. También los que estaban crucificados con él le denostaban.
33Y cuando vino la hora de sexta, fueron hechas tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona.
34Y á la hora de nona, exclamó Jesús á gran voz, diciendo: Eloi, Eloi, ¿lama sabachthani? que declarado, quiere decir: Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has desamparado?
35Y oyéndole unos de los que estaban allí, decían: He aquí, llama á Elías.
36Y corrió uno, y empapando una esponja en vinagre, y poniéndola en una caña, le dió á beber, diciendo: Dejad, veamos si vendrá Elías á quitarle.
37Mas Jesús, dando una grande voz, espiró.
38Entonces el velo del templo se rasgó en dos, de alto á bajo.
39Y el centurión que estaba delante de él, viendo que había espirado así clamando, dijo: Verdaderamente este hombre era el Hijo de Dios.
40Y también estaban algunas mujeres mirando de lejos; entre las cuales estaba María Magdalena, y María la madre de Jacobo el menor y de José, y Salomé;
41Las cuales, estando aún él en Galilea, le habían seguido, y le servían; y otras muchas que juntamente con él habían subido á Jerusalem.
42Y cuando fué la tarde, porque era la preparación, es decir, la víspera del sábado,
43José de Arimatea, senador noble, que también esperaba el reino de Dios, vino, y osadamente entró á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.
44Y Pilato se maravilló que ya fuese muerto; y haciendo venir al centurión, preguntóle si era ya muerto.
45Y enterado del centurión, dió el cuerpo á José:
46El cual compró una sábana, y quitándole, le envolvió en la sábana: y le puso en un sepulcro que estaba cavado en una peña; y revolvió una piedra á la puerta del sepulcro.
47Y María Magdalena, y María madre de José, miraban donde era puesto.

1And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
2And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.
3And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
4And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
5But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
6Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
7And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
8And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
9But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
10For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
11But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
12And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
13And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
15And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
16And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Prætorium; and they call together the whole band.
17And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
20And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
21And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
22And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
25And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
29And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
33And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

43Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
47And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

1Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders, scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.
2Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered, “So you say.”
3The chief priests accused him of many things.
4Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you!”
5But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate marveled.
6Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whomever they asked of him.
7There was one called Barabbas, bound with his fellow insurgents, men who in the insurrection had committed murder.
8The multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do as he always did for them.
9Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
10For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.
11But the chief priests stirred up the multitude, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.
12Pilate again asked them, “What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?”
13They cried out again, “Crucify him!”
14Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out exceedingly, “Crucify him!”
15Pilate, wishing to please the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.
16The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.
17They clothed him with purple; and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.
18They began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
19They struck his head with a reed and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.
20When they had mocked him, they took the purple cloak off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.
21They compelled one passing by, coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them that he might bear his cross.
22They brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “The place of a skull.”
23They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he didn’t take it.

31Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, “He saved others. He can’t save himself.
32Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him.” Those who were crucified with him also insulted him.
33When the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34At the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is, being interpreted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
35Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.”
36One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”
37Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit.
38The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.
39When the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
40There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41who, when he was in Galilee, followed him and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
42When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
43Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for God’s Kingdom, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.
44Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.
45When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
46He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
47Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
