1Ostern, das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote, war in zwei Tagen. Die Oberpriester und die Schriftgelehrten suchten nach einer passenden Gelegenheit, wie sie ihn mit List ergreifen und dann töten könnten.
2Doch sagten sie: "Nur nicht am Fest, es könnte sonst das Volk in Aufruhr kommen."
3Als Jesus in Bethanien weilte, im Hause Simons des Aussätzigen, da trat, solange er zu Tische lag, ein Weib herein; sie trug ein Gefäß aus Alabaster voll echten, feinsten Nardenöls. Sie zerbrach das Alabastergefäß und goß das Öl über seinem Haupte aus.
4Darüber waren einige untereinander sehr erbost: "Wozu die Verschwendung mit dem Salböl?
5Man hätte die Salbe um mehr als dreihundert Denare verkaufen und den Erlös den Armen geben können." So ließen sie das Weib hart an.
6Doch Jesus sprach: "Laßt sie! Was kränkt ihr sie? Sie hat ein gutes Werk an mir getan.
7Die Armen habt ihr allzeit bei euch und könnt ihnen Gutes tun, wann ihr wollt, mich aber habt ihr nicht allzeit.
8Sie hat getan, was sie konnte; sie salbte meinen Leib zum voraus für das Begräbnis.
9Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo immer in der ganzen Welt dieses Evangelium verkündet wird, da wird man auch erzählen, was sie getan hat, ihr zum Gedächtnis."
10Alsdann ging einer von den Zwölfen, Judas Iskariot, zu den Oberpriestern, um ihn diesen zu verraten.
11Wie sie dies hörten, freuten sie sich sehr, und sie versprachen, ihm Geld zu geben. Er ging nun darauf aus, ihn zu gelegener Zeit auszuliefern.
12Am ersten Tag der Ungesäuerten Brote, an dem man das Osterlamm zu schlachten pflegte, fragten ihn seine Jünger: "Wo willst du, daß wir dir das Ostermahl bereiten?"
13Da sandte er zwei aus seinen Jüngern ab und sprach zu ihnen: "Geht in die Stadt! Dort wird euch ein Mann mit einem Wasserkrug begegnen; dem folgt.
14Wo der hingeht, da sagt zu dem Herrn des Hauses: 'Der Meister spricht: Wo ist mein Gemach, in dem ich mit meinen Jüngern das Ostermahl halten kann?'
15Er wird euch ein oberes Gemach anweisen, geräumig, mit Teppichen belegt und hergerichtet; dort bereitet es für uns!"
16Die Jünger gingen weg und kamen in die Stadt; sie fanden es so, wie er es ihnen gesagt hatte, und sie bereiteten das Ostermahl.
17So ward es Abend. Da kam er mit den Zwölfen.
18Während sie bei Tische waren und aßen, sprach Jesus: "Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer aus euch wird mich verraten, einer, der mit mir ißt."
19Da fragte ihn einer nach dem anderen tief betrübt: "Doch nicht ich?"
20Er sprach zu ihnen: "Einer aus den Zwölfen, der mit mir aus einer Schüssel ißt.
21Zwar geht der Menschensohn dahin, wie es von ihm geschrieben steht; doch wehe jenem Menschen, durch den der Menschensohn verraten wird. Besser wäre es für ihn, wenn dieser Mensch nicht geboren wäre."
22Während sie beim Mahle waren, nahm Jesus Brot, segnete, brach es und gab es ihnen mit den Worten: "Nehmt hin, das ist mein Leib."
23Darauf nahm er den Kelch, dankte und gab ihnen diesen, und sie tranken daraus alle.
24Er sprach zu ihnen: "Das ist mein Bundesblut, das für viele vergossen wird.
25Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ich werde nicht mehr vom Gewächs des Weinstocks trinken bis zu jenem Tage, da ich es im Gottesreiche erneuert trinken werde."
26Sie beteten den Lobgesang und gingen hierauf zum Ölberg hinaus.
27Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Ihr alle werdet heute nacht an mir irre werden; denn also steht geschrieben: 'Ich will den Hirten schlagen; dann werden die Schafe zerstreut werden.'
28Nach meiner Auferstehung aber will ich euch nach Galiläa vorausgehen."
29Darauf gab ihm Petrus zur Antwort: "Und mögen alle an dir irre werden, ich nicht."
30Doch Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Heute noch, in dieser Nacht, noch vor dem zweiten Hahnenschrei, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnet haben."
31Allein nur um so eifriger sprach er: "Und wenn ich mit dir sterben müßte, ich werde dich nicht verleugnen." In gleicher Weise sprachen alle.
32Sie kamen zu einem Landgut, Gethsemani geheißen. Er sprach zu seinen Jüngern: "Wartet hier, indes ich bete."
33Nur Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes nahm er mit sich. Da fing er an, zu zittern und zu zagen.
34Er sprach zu ihnen: "Meine Seele ist bis zum Tod betrübt; bleibet hier und wachet!"
35Er ging ein wenig vorwärts, fiel auf die Erde nieder und betete, daß, wenn es möglich sei, die Stunde an ihm vorübergehe.
36Er sprach: "Abba, Vater, dir ist alles möglich; laß diesen Kelch an mir vorübergehen. Doch nicht, wie ich will, sondern wie du willst."
37Dann ging er wieder hin und fand sie schlafend. Er sprach zu Petrus: "Simon, du schläfst? Nicht eine einzige Stunde hast du wachen können?
38Wachet und betet, damit ihr nicht in Versuchung fallet. Der Geist ist willig; doch das Fleisch ist schwach."
39Dann ging er wieder hin und betete mit denselben Worten.
40Er kam zurück und fand sie wieder schlafend; denn ihre Augen waren schwer geworden; sie wußten nicht, was sie zu ihm sagen sollten.
41Als er zum drittenmal kam, sprach er zu ihnen: "Noch schlafet ihr und ruhet. Nun ist es soweit. Die Stunde ist gekommen, da der Menschensohn in die Hände der Sünder überliefert wird.
42Steht auf und laßt uns gehen. Seht, mein Verräter naht."
43Noch sprach er so, da kam schon Judas, einer aus den Zwölfen, mit ihm ein Haufen mit Schwertern und mit Prügeln im Auftrag der Oberpriester, der Schriftgelehrten und der Ältesten.
44Sein Verräter hatte mit ihnen ein Zeichen verabredet: "Der, den ich küssen werde, ist es. Den packt und führt ihn vorsichtig weg."
45Er ging sofort auf Jesus zu und sagte zu ihm: "Sei gegrüßt, Rabbi!" und küßte ihn gar innig.
46Sie aber legten Hand an Jesus und ergriffen ihn.
47Doch einer von denen, die in der Nähe standen, zog sein Schwert und schlug den Knecht des Hohenpriesters und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.
48Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Wie gegen einen Räuber seid ihr ausgezogen, mit Schwertern und Prügeln, um mich zu ergreifen.
49Tag für Tag war ich bei euch im Tempel, wo ich lehrte, und ihr habt mich nicht ergriffen. Jedoch es sollen sich die Schriften erfüllen."
50Jetzt ließen ihn alle seine Jünger im Stich und flohen.
51Ein Jüngling, der ein Linnentuch auf bloßem Leibe trug, folgte ihm. Da packte man ihn.
52Er aber ließ das Linnentuch fahren und floh vor ihnen nackt.
53Sie führten Jesus zum Hohenpriester, bei dem sich alle versammelten, die Oberpriester und die Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten.
54Petrus folgte ihm von ferne bis in den Hof des Hohenpriesters hinein. Dort setzte er sich bei den Dienern nieder und wärmte sich am Feuer.
55Die Oberpriester, das heißt der ganze Hohe Rat, suchten nach einem Zeugnis gegen Jesus, um ihn in den Tod zu bringen. Sie fanden aber keines,
56obwohl gar viele falsches Zeugnis über ihn abgaben; ihr Zeugnis stimmte nicht zusammen.
57Dann traten einige noch auf und sagten als falsche Zeugen gegen ihn:
58"Wir haben diesen sagen hören: 'Ich reiße diesen Tempel hier, der mit Händen erbaut wurde, nieder und baue innerhalb drei Tagen einen anderen auf, der nicht mit Händen erbaut wird.'"
59Doch auch so stimmte, was sie sagten, nicht zusammen.
60Da trat der Hohepriester mitten hin und fragte Jesus: "Weißt du denn gar nichts zu erwidern? Was bezeugen doch diese gegen dich?"
61Er aber schwieg und gab ihm keine Antwort. Und wieder fragte ihn der Hohepriester: "Bist du der Christus, der Sohn Gottes des Hochgelobten?"
62Und da sprach Jesus: "Ich bin es. Ihr werdet den Menschensohn zur Rechten des Allmächtigen Gottes sitzen und auf den Wolken des Himmels kommen sehen."
63Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider und rief: "Was brauchen wir noch Zeugen?
64Ihr habt die Lästerung gehört. Was dünkt euch?" Und alle sprachen ihn des Todes schuldig.
65Alsdann begannen einige, ihn anzuspeien, sein Antlitz zu verhüllen, ihm Stockschläge zu geben und ihm zuzurufen: "Weissage!" Und auch die Diener fielen über ihn her.
66Indes befand sich Petrus im Hofe draußen. Da kam eine von den Mägden des Hohenpriesters;
67sie sah den Petrus, der sich wärmte, schaute ihm ins Gesicht und sprach: "Auch du warst bei Jesus, dem Nazarener."
68Er aber leugnete und sagte: "Ich weiß nicht und verstehe nicht, was du redest." Er ging alsdann zur Vorhalle hinaus, und schon krähte der Hahn.
69Wie ihn die Magd da sah, fing sie noch einmal an und sprach zu denen, die dort standen. "Auch der gehört zu ihnen."
70Er leugnete es abermals. Nach einer kleinen Weile sagten die Umstehenden nochmals zu Petrus: "Sicherlich gehörst du auch zu ihnen; du bist ja auch ein Galiläer."
71Da fing er an zu fluchen und zu schwören: "Ich kenne diesen Menschen nicht, von dem ihr redet."
72Da krähte gleich darauf der Hahn ein zweitesmal. Und nun erinnerte sich Petrus des Wortes Jesu, als er zu ihm sprach: "Noch vor dem zweiten Hahnenschrei wirst du mich dreimal verleugnet haben." Und er brach in Tränen aus.

1Y DOS días después era la Pascua y los días de los panes sin levadura: y procuraban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas cómo le prenderían por engaño, y le matarían.
2Y decían: No en el día de la fiesta, porque no se haga alboroto del pueblo.
3Y estando él en Bethania en casa de Simón el leproso, y sentado á la mesa, vino una mujer teniendo un alabastro de ungüento de nardo espique de mucho precio; y quebrando el alabastro, derramóselo sobre su cabeza.
4Y hubo algunos que se enojaron dentro de sí, y dijeron: ¿Para qué se ha hecho este desperdicio de ungüento?
5Porque podía esto ser vendido por más de trescientos denarios, y darse á los pobres. Y murmuraban contra ella.
6Mas Jesús dijo: Dejadla; ¿por qué la fatigáis? buena obra me ha hecho;
7Que siempre tendréis los pobres con vosotros, y cuando quisiereis les podréis hacer bien; mas á mí no siempre me tendréis.
8Esta ha hecho lo que podía; porque se ha anticipado á ungir mi cuerpo para la sepultura.
9De cierto os digo que donde quiera que fuere predicado este evangelio en todo el mundo, también esto que ha hecho ésta, será dicho para memoria de ella.
10Entonces Judas Iscariote, uno de los doce, vino á los príncipes de los sacerdotes, para entregársele.
11Y ellos oyéndolo se holgaron, y prometieron que le darían dineros. Y buscaba oportunidad cómo le entregaría.
12Y el primer día de los panes sin levadura, cuando sacrificaban la pascua, sus discípulos le dicen: ¿Dónde quieres que vayamos á disponer para que comas la pascua?
13Y envía dos de sus discípulos, y les dice: Id á la ciudad, y os encontrará un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle;
14Y donde entrare, decid al señor de la casa: El Maestro dice: ¿Dónde está el aposento donde he de comer la pascua con mis discípulos?
15Y él os mostrará un gran cenáculo ya preparado: aderezad para nosotros allí.
16Y fueron sus discípulos, y vinieron á la ciudad, y hallaron como les había dicho; y aderezaron la pascua.
17Y llegada la tarde, fué con los doce.
18Y como se sentaron á la mesa y comiesen, dice Jesús: De cierto os digo que uno de vosotros, que come conmigo, me ha de entregar.
19Entonces ellos comenzaron á entristecerse, y á decirle cada uno por sí: ¿Seré yo? Y el otro: ¿Seré yo?
20Y él respondiendo les dijo: Es uno de los doce que moja conmigo en el plato.
21A la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, como está de él escrito; mas ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del hombre es entregado! bueno le fuera á aquel hombre si nunca hubiera nacido.
22Y estando ellos comiendo, tomó Jesús pan, y bendiciendo, partió y les dió, y dijo: Tomad, esto es mi cuerpo.
23Y tomando el vaso, habiendo hecho gracias, les dió: y bebieron de él todos.
24Y les dice: Esto es mi sangre del nuevo pacto, que por muchos es derramada.
25De cierto os digo que no beberé más del fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día cuando lo beberé nuevo en el reino de Dios.
26Y como hubieron cantado el himno, se salieron al monte de las Olivas.
27Jesús entonces les dice: Todos seréis escandalizados en mí esta noche; porque escrito está: Heriré al pastor, y serán derramadas las ovejas.
28Mas después que haya resucitado, iré delante de vosotros á Galilea.
29Entonces Pedro le dijo: Aunque todos sean escandalizados, mas no yo.
30Y le dice Jesús: De cierto te digo que tú, hoy, en esta noche, antes que el gallo haya cantado dos veces, me negarás tres veces.
31Mas él con mayor porfía decía: Si me fuere menester morir contigo, no te negaré. También todos decían lo mismo.
32Y vienen al lugar que se llama Gethsemaní, y dice á sus discípulos: Sentaos aquí, entre tanto que yo oro.
33Y toma consigo á Pedro y á Jacobo y á Juan, y comenzó á atemorizarse, y á angustiarse.
34Y les dice: Está muy triste mi alma, hasta la muerte: esperad aquí y velad.
35Y yéndose un poco adelante, se postró en tierra, y oró que si fuese posible, pasase de él aquella hora.
36Y decía: Abba, Padre, todas las cosas son á ti posibles; traspasa de mí este vaso; empero no lo que yo quiero, sino lo que tú.
37Y vino y los halló durmiendo; y dice á Pedro: ¿Simón, duermes? ¿No has podido velar una hora?
38Velad y orad, para que no entréis en tentación: el espíritu á la verdad es presto, mas la carne enferma.
39Y volviéndose á ir, oró, y dijo las mismas palabras.
40Y vuelto, los halló otra vez durmiendo, porque los ojos de ellos estaban cargados; y no sabían qué responderle.
41Y vino la tercera vez, y les dice: Dormid ya y descansad: basta, la hora es venida; he aquí, el Hijo del hombre es entregado en manos de los pecadores.
42Levantaos, vamos: he aquí, el que me entrega está cerca.
43Y luego, aun hablando él, vino Judas, que era uno de los doce, y con él una compañía con espadas y palos, de parte de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas y de los ancianos.
44Y el que le entregaba les había dado señal común, diciendo: Al que yo besare, aquél es: prendedle, y llevadle con seguridad.
45Y como vino, se acercó luego á él, y le dice: Maestro, Maestro. Y le besó.
46Entonces ellos echaron en él sus manos, y le prendieron.
47Y uno de los que estaban allí, sacando la espada, hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote, y le cortó la oreja.
48Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Como á ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos á tomarme?
49Cada día estaba con vosotros enseñando en el templo, y no me tomasteis; pero es así, para que se cumplan las Escrituras.
50Entonces dejándole todos sus discípulos, huyeron.
51Empero un mancebillo le seguía cubierto de una sábana sobre el cuerpo desnudo; y los mancebos le prendieron:
52Mas él, dejando la sábana, se huyó de ellos desnudo.
53Y trajeron á Jesús al sumo sacerdote; y se juntaron á él todos los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos y los escribas.
54Empero Pedro le siguió de lejos hasta dentro del patio del sumo sacerdote; y estaba sentado con los servidores, y calentándose al fuego.
55Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y todo el concilio buscaban testimonio contra Jesús, para entregarle á la muerte; mas no lo hallaban.
56Porque muchos decían falso testimonio contra él; mas sus testimonios no concertaban.
57Entonces levantándose unos, dieron falso testimonio contra él, diciendo:
58Nosotros le hemos oído decir: Yo derribaré este templo que es hecho de mano, y en tres días edificaré otro echo sin mano.
59Mas ni aun así se concertaba el testimonio de ellos.
60Entonces el sumo sacerdote, levantándose en medio, preguntó á Jesús, diciendo: ¿No respondes algo? ¿Qué atestiguan éstos contra ti?
61Mas él callaba, y nada respondía. El sumo sacerdote le volvió á preguntar, y le dice: ¿Eres tú el Cristo, el Hijo del Bendito?
62Y Jesús le dijo: Yo soy; y veréis al Hijo del hombre sentado á la diestra de la potencia de Dios, y viniendo en las nubes del cielo.
63Entonces el sumo sacerdote, rasgando sus vestidos, dijo: ¿Qué más tenemos necesidad de testigos?
64Oído habéis la blasfemia: ¿qué os parece? Y ellos todos le condenaron ser culpado de muerte.
65Y algunos comenzaron á escupir en él, y cubrir su rostro, y á darle bofetadas, y decirle: Profetiza. Y los servidores le herían de bofetadas.
66Y estando Pedro abajo en el atrio, vino una de las criadas del sumo sacerdote;
67Y como vió á Pedro que se calentaba, mirándole, dice: Y tú con Jesús el Nazareno estabas.
68Mas él negó, diciendo: No conozco, ni sé lo que dices. Y se salió fuera á la entrada; y cantó el gallo.
69Y la criada viéndole otra vez, comenzó á decir á los que estaban allí: Este es de ellos.
70Mas él negó otra vez. Y poco después, los que estaban allí dijeron otra vez á Pedro: Verdaderamente tú eres de ellos; porque eres Galileo, y tu habla es semejante.
71Y él comenzó á maldecir y á jurar: No conozco á este hombre de quien habláis.
72Y el gallo cantó la segunda vez: y Pedro se acordó de las palabras que Jesús le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante dos veces, me negarás tres veces. Y pensando en esto, lloraba.

1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
10And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.
11And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
12And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
13And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
14And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
15And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
16And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
17And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
18And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
21The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
26And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
27And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
28But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
29But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
30And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
31But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
32And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
34And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
39And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
40And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
43And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
45And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
46And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
47And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
50And they all forsook him, and fled.
51And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
52And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
53And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
54And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
55And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
59But neither so did their witness agree together.
60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
66And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
70And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
71But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
72And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

1It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception and kill him.
2For they said, “Not during the feast, because there might be a riot among the people.”
3While he was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard—very costly. She broke the jar and poured it over his head.
4But there were some who were indignant among themselves, saying, “Why has this ointment been wasted?
5For this might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” So they grumbled against her.
6But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.
7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want to, you can do them good; but you will not always have me.
8She has done what she could. She has anointed my body beforehand for the burying.
9Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News may be preached throughout the whole world, that which this woman has done will also be spoken of for a memorial of her.”
10Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them.
11They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.
12On the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the Passover?”
13He sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and there a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him,
14and wherever he enters in, tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
15He will himself show you a large upper room furnished and ready. Get ready for us there.”
16His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found things as he had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.
17When it was evening he came with the twelve.
18As they sat and were eating, Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, one of you will betray me—he who eats with me.”
19They began to be sorrowful, and to ask him one by one, “Surely not I?” And another said, “Surely not I?”
20He answered them, “It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
21For the Son of Man goes as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”
22As they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had blessed it, he broke it and gave to them, and said, “Take, eat. This is my body.”
23He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them. They all drank of it.
24He said to them, “This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many.
25Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in God’s Kingdom.”
26When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
27Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’
28However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”
29But Peter said to him, “Although all will be offended, yet I will not.”
30Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”
31But he spoke all the more, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” They all said the same thing.
32They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”
33He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.
34He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”
35He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.
36He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”
37He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?
38Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
39Again he went away and prayed, saying the same words.
40Again he returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they didn’t know what to answer him.
41He came the third time and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42Arise! Let’s get going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”
43Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
44Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely.”
45When he had come, immediately he came to him and said, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him.
46They laid their hands on him and seized him.
47But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48Jesus answered them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?
49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”
50They all left him, and fled.
51A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,
52but he left the linen cloth and fled from them naked.
53They led Jesus away to the high priest. All the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes came together with him.
54Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.
55Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.
56For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn’t agree with each other.
57Some stood up and gave false testimony against him, saying,
58“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’”
59Even so, their testimony didn’t agree.
60The high priest stood up in the middle, and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?”
61But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
62Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”
63The high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need have we of witnesses?
64You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” They all condemned him to be worthy of death.
65Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, “Prophesy!” The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
66As Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids of the high priest came,
67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus!”
68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.
69The maid saw him and began again to tell those who stood by, “This is one of them.”
70But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, “You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”
71But he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know this man of whom you speak!”
72The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the words that Jesus said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” When he thought about that, he wept.
