1Hütet euch, eure Gerechtigkeit zu üben vor den Menschen, um von ihnen gesehen zu werden. Wo anders, so habt ihr keinen Lohn bei eurem Vater in den Himmeln.
2Wenn du also Almosen gibst, so laß nicht vor dir her trompeten, wie die Heuchler thun, in den Synagogen und auf den Gassen, damit sie von den Menschen gepriesen werden; wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
3Wenn aber du Almosen gibst, so möge deine linke Hand nicht wissen, was deine rechte thut,
4auf daß dein Almosen im Verborgenen bleibe, so wird dein Vater, der im Verborgenen sieht, dir vergelten.
5Und wenn ihr betet, so soll es bei euch nicht sein wie bei den Heuchlern; die verrichten gern ihr Gebet in den Synagogen und an den Straßenecken stehend, um sich den Menschen zu zeigen. Wahrlich, ich sage euch, sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
6Du aber, wenn du betest, so gehe in deine Kammer und schließe deine Thüre und bete zu deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist, so wird dein Vater, der im Verborgenen sieht, dir vergelten.
7Wenn ihr aber betet, so sollt ihr nicht plappern, wie die Heiden; denn sie meinen, sie werden erhört mit ihrer Wortmacherei.
8So stellet euch ihnen nicht gleich; denn euer Vater weiß, was ihr bedürfet, ehe ihr's von ihm fordert.
9So sollt ihr denn also beten:
10Unser Vater, der du bist in den Himmeln! Geheiligt werde dein Name. Es komme dein Reich. Es geschehe dein Wille wie im Himmel so auch auf Erden.
11Unser nötiges Brot gib uns heute.
12Und vergib uns unsere Schulden, wie auch wir vergeben haben unsern Schuldnern.
13Und führe uns nicht in Versuchung, sondern erlöse uns vom Bösen.
14Denn wenn ihr den Menschen ihre Fehler vergebt, so wird euch euer himmlischer Vater auch vergeben.
15Wenn ihr aber den Menschen nicht vergebet, so wird euer Vater eure Fehler auch nicht vergeben.
16Wenn ihr aber fastet, so sollt ihr nicht trübselig drein sehen wie die Heuchler; denn sie entstellen ihr Angesicht, um sich den Menschen vorzustellen mit ihrem Fasten. Wahrlich, ich sage euch: sie haben ihren Lohn dahin.
17Du aber, wenn du fastest, salbe dein Haupt und wasche dein Angesicht,
18um dich nicht den Menschen vorzustellen mit deinem Fasten, sondern deinem Vater, der im Verborgenen ist; so wird dein Vater der im Verborgenen sieht, dir vergelten.
19Sammelt euch nicht Schätze auf Erden, wo Motte und Rost zerstört und wo Diebe nachgraben und stehlen.
20Sammelt euch aber Schätze im Himmel, wo weder Motte noch Rost zerstört und wo keine Diebe nachgraben und stehlen.
21Denn wo dein Schatz ist, da ist auch dein Herz.
22Das Licht des Leibes ist das Auge. Wenn nun dein Auge richtig ist, so wird dein ganzer Leib hell haben.
23Wenn aber dein Auge nichts taugt, wird dein ganzer Leib finster haben. So also, wenn das innere Licht in dir zur Finsternis wird, wie groß muß die Finsternis sein!
24Niemand kann zwei Herren dienen; entweder wird er den einen hassen und den andern lieben; oder er wird jenem anhängen und den andern verachten. Ihr könnet nicht Gott dienen und dem Mamon.
25Darum sage ich euch: sorget nicht für euer Leben, was ihr esset, noch für euren Leib, was ihr anziehet. Ist nicht das Leben mehr als die Nahrung? und der Leib mehr als das Kleid?
26Sehet die Vögel des Himmels an: sie säen nicht, sie ernten nicht, sie sammeln nicht in Scheunen, euer himmlischer Vater ernährt sie. Seid ihr nicht viel besser als sie?
27Wer aber unter euch kann mit Sorgen seiner Lebenslänge eine Elle zusetzen?
28Und was sorgt ihr für die Kleidung? Achtet auf die Lilien des Feldes, wie sie wachsen; sie arbeiten nicht, sie spinnen nicht.
29Ich sage euch aber: auch Salomo in aller seiner Herrlichkeit war nicht angethan wie eine von ihnen.
30Wenn aber Gott das Gras des Feldes, das heute steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, also bekleidet, wie nicht viel mehr euch, ihr Kleingläubige?
31So sollt ihr denn nicht sorgen und sagen: was sollen wir essen, was sollen wir trinken, was sollen wir anziehen?
32Um alles das kümmern sich die Heiden. Euer himmlischer Vater weiß ja, daß ihr dies alles bedürfet.
33Trachtet aber zuerst nach seinem Reich und Recht, so wird euch dies alles zugelegt werden.
34Sorget nun nicht auf den morgenden Tag; der morgende Tag wird für sich selbst sorgen. Jeder Tag hat genug an seiner Plage.

1MIRAD que no hagáis vuestra justicia delante de los hombres, para ser vistos de ellos: de otra manera no tendréis merced de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
2Cuando pues haces limosna, no hagas tocar trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las plazas, para ser estimados de los hombres: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su recompensa.
3Mas cuando tú haces limosna, no sepa tu izquierda lo que hace tu derecha;
4Para que sea tu limosna en secreto: y tu Padre que ve en secreto, él te recompensará en público.
5Y cuando oras, no seas como los hipócritas; porque ellos aman el orar en las sinagogas, y en los cantones de las calles en pie, para ser vistos de los hombres: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su pago.
6Mas tú, cuando oras, éntrate en tu cámara, y cerrada tu puerta, ora á tu Padre que está en secreto; y tu Padre que ve en secreto, te recompensará en público.
7Y orando, no seáis prolijos, como los Gentiles; que piensan que por su parlería serán oídos.
8No os hagáis, pues, semejantes á ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe de qué cosas tenéis necesidad, antes que vosotros le pidáis.
9Vosotros pues, oraréis así: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre.
10Venga tu reino. Sea hecha tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.
11Danos hoy nuestro pan cotidiano.
12Y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos á nuestros deudores.
13Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal: porque tuyo es el reino, y el poder, y la gloria, por todos los siglos. Amén.
14Porque si perdonareis á los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también á vosotros vuestro Padre celestial.
15Mas si no perdonareis á los hombres sus ofensas, tampoco vuestro Padre os perdonará vuestras ofensas.
16Y cuando ayunáis, no seáis como los hipócritas, austeros; porque ellos demudan sus rostros para parecer á los hombres que ayunan: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su pago.
17Mas tú, cuando ayunas, unge tu cabeza y lava tu rostro;
18Para no parecer á los hombres que ayunas, sino á tu Padre que está en secreto: y tu Padre que ve en secreto, te recompensará en público.
19No os hagáis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corrompe, y donde ladrones minan y hurtan;
20Mas haceos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni polilla ni orín corrompe, y donde ladrones no minan ni hurtan:
21Porque donde estuviere vuestro tesoro, allí estará vuestro corazón.
22La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo: así que, si tu ojo fuere sincero, todo tu cuerpo será luminoso:
23Mas si tu ojo fuere malo, todo tu cuerpo será tenebroso. Así que, si la lumbre que en ti hay son tinieblas, ¿cuántas serán las mismas tinieblas?
24Ninguno puede servir á dos señores; porque ó aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, ó se llegará al uno y menospreciará al otro: no podéis servir á Dios y á Mammón.
25Por tanto os digo: No os congojéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer, ó qué habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir: ¿no es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo que el vestido?
26Mirad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni allegan en alfolíes; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No sois vosotros mucho mejores que ellas?
27Mas ¿quién de vosotros podrá, congojándose, añadir á su estatura un codo?
28Y por el vestido ¿por qué os congojáis? Reparad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen; no trabajan ni hilan;
29Mas os digo, que ni aun Salomón con toda su gloria fué vestido así como uno de ellos.
30Y si la hierba del campo que hoy es, y mañana es echada en el horno, Dios la viste así, ¿no hará mucho más á vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
31No os congojéis pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, ó qué beberemos, ó con qué nos cubriremos?
32Porque los Gentiles buscan todas estas cosas: que vuestro Padre celestial sabe que de todas estas cosas habéis menester.
33Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
34Así que, no os congojéis por el día de mañana; que el día de mañana traerá su fatiga: basta al día su afán.

1Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

1“Be careful that you don’t do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.
2Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.
3But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does,
4so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
5“When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most certainly, I tell you, they have received their reward.
6But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
7In praying, don’t use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
8Therefore don’t be like them, for your Father knows what things you need before you ask him.
9Pray like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
10Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.
13Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’
