1Als Jesus nun die Volksscharen sah, ging er ins Gebirge hinauf, und nachdem er sich dort gesetzt hatte, traten seine Jünger zu ihm.
2Da tat er seinen Mund auf und lehrte sie mit den Worten:
3»Selig sind die geistlich Armen, denn ihnen wird das Himmelreich zuteil!
4Selig sind die Bekümmerten, denn sie werden getröstet werden! –
5Selig sind die Sanftmütigen, denn sie werden das Land ererben!
6Selig sind, die nach der Gerechtigkeit hungern und dürsten, denn sie werden gesättigt werden! –
7Selig sind die Barmherzigen, denn sie werden Barmherzigkeit erlangen!
8Selig sind, die reinen Herzens sind, denn sie werden Gott schauen!
9Selig sind die Friedfertigen, denn sie werden Söhne Gottes heißen! –
10Selig sind, die um der Gerechtigkeit willen Verfolgung erleiden, denn ihnen wird das Himmelreich zuteil!
11Selig seid ihr, wenn man euch um meinetwillen schmäht und verfolgt und euch lügnerisch alles Böse nachredet!
12Freuet euch darüber und jubelt, denn euer Lohn ist groß im Himmel! Ebenso hat man ja auch die Propheten vor euch verfolgt.«
13»Ihr seid das Salz der Erde! Wenn aber das Salz fade geworden ist, womit soll es wieder gesalzen werden? Es taugt zu nichts mehr, als aus dem Hause geworfen und von den Leuten zertreten zu werden. –
14Ihr seid das Licht der Welt! Eine Stadt, die oben auf einem Berge liegt, kann nicht verborgen bleiben.
15Man zündet auch nicht ein Licht an und stellt es unter den Scheffel, sondern auf den Leuchter: dann leuchtet es allen, die im Hause sind.
16Ebenso soll auch euer Licht vor den Menschen leuchten, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euren Vater, der im Himmel ist, preisen.«
17»Denkt nicht, daß ich gekommen sei, das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzulösen! Ich bin nicht gekommen aufzulösen, sondern zu erfüllen.
18Denn wahrlich ich sage euch: Bis Himmel und Erde vergehen, wird vom Gesetz nicht ein einziges Jota und kein Strichlein vergehen, bis alles in Erfüllung gegangen ist.
19Wer also ein einziges von diesen Geboten – und wäre es das geringste – auflöst und die Menschen demgemäß lehrt, der wird der Geringste im Himmelreich heißen; wer sie aber tut und (die Menschen) so lehrt, der wird groß im Himmelreich heißen.
20Denn ich sage euch: Wenn es mit eurer Gerechtigkeit nicht weit besser bestellt ist als bei den Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäern, so werdet ihr nimmermehr ins Himmelreich eingehen!«
21»Ihr habt gehört, daß den Alten geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht töten‹, wer aber tötet, soll dem Gericht verfallen sein.
22Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer seinem Bruder auch nur zürnt, der soll dem Gericht verfallen sein; und wer zu seinem Bruder ›Dummkopf‹ sagt, soll dem Hohen Rat verfallen sein; und wer ›du Narr‹ zu ihm sagt, soll der Feuerhölle verfallen sein.
23Wenn du also deine Opfergabe zum Altar bringst und dich dort erinnerst, daß dein Bruder etwas gegen dich hat,
24so laß deine Gabe dort vor dem Altar und gehe zunächst hin und versöhne dich mit deinem Bruder; alsdann geh hin und opfere deine Gabe!
25Sei zum Vergleich mit deinem Widersacher ohne Säumen bereit, solange du mit ihm noch auf dem Wege (zum Richter) bist, damit dein Widersacher dich nicht dem Richter übergibt und der Richter dich dem Gerichtsdiener (überantwortet) und du ins Gefängnis gesetzt wirst.
26Wahrlich ich sage dir: Du wirst von dort sicherlich nicht herauskommen, bis du den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.
27Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht ehebrechen!‹
28Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer eine Ehefrau auch nur mit Begehrlichkeit anblickt, hat damit schon in seinem Herzen Ehebruch an ihr begangen.
29Wenn dich also dein rechtes Auge ärgert, so reiß es aus und wirf es weg von dir; denn es ist besser für dich, daß eines deiner Glieder (dir) verloren geht, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird.
30Und wenn deine rechte Hand dich ärgert, so haue sie ab und wirf sie weg von dir; denn es ist besser für dich, daß eines deiner Glieder (dir) verloren geht, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen wird. –
31Ferner ist (zu den Alten) gesagt worden: ›Wer seine Ehefrau entläßt, der soll ihr einen Scheidebrief geben!‹
32Ich dagegen sage euch: Wer sich von seiner Frau scheidet – außer auf Grund von Unzucht –, der verschuldet es, daß dann Ehebruch mit ihr verübt wird; und wer eine entlassene Frau heiratet, der begeht Ehebruch.
33Ihr habt weiter gehört, daß den Alten geboten worden ist: ›Du sollst nicht falsch schwören‹, ›sollst aber dem Herrn deine Eide erfüllen!‹
34Ich dagegen sage euch: Ihr sollt überhaupt nicht schwören, weder beim Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron,
35noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist der Schemel seiner Füße, noch bei Jerusalem, denn es ist die Stadt des großen Königs.
36Auch bei deinem Haupte sollst du nicht schwören, denn du vermagst kein einziges Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.
37Eure Rede sei vielmehr ›ja ja – nein nein‹; jeder weitere Zusatz ist vom Übel.
38Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist: ›Auge um Auge und Zahn um Zahn!‹
39Ich dagegen sage euch: Ihr sollt dem Bösen keinen Widerstand leisten; sondern wer dich auf die rechte Wange schlägt, dem halte auch die andere hin,
40und wer mit dir einen Rechtsstreit anfangen und dir den Rock nehmen will, dem überlaß auch noch den Mantel,
41und wer dich zu einer Meile Weges nötigt, mit dem gehe zwei.
42Wer dich (um etwas) bittet, dem gib, und wer (Geld) von dir borgen will, den weise nicht ab!
43Ihr habt gehört, daß (den Alten) geboten worden ist; ›Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben, und deinen Feind hassen!‹
44Ich dagegen sage euch: Liebet eure Feinde und betet für eure Verfolger,
45damit ihr euch als Söhne eures himmlischen Vaters erweist. Denn er läßt seine Sonne über Böse und Gute aufgehen und läßt regnen auf Gerechte und Ungerechte.
46Denn wenn ihr (nur) die liebt, die euch lieben, welches Verdienst habt ihr da? Tun das nicht auch die Zöllner?
47Und wenn ihr nur eure Freunde grüßt, was tut ihr da Besonderes? Tun das nicht auch die Heiden?
48Darum sollt ihr vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.«

1Y VIENDO las gentes, subió al monte; y sentándose, se llegaron á él sus discípulos.
2Y abriendo su boca, les enseñaba, diciendo:
3Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu: porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
4Bienaventurados los que lloran: porque ellos recibirán consolación.
5Bienaventurados los mansos: porque ellos recibirán la tierra por heredad.
6Bienaventurados los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia: porque ellos serán hartos.
7Bienaventurados los misericordiosos: porque ellos alcanzarán misericordia.
8Bienaventurados los de limpio corazón: porque ellos verán á Dios.
9Bienaventurados los pacificadores: porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.
10Bienaventurados los que padecen persecución por causa de la justicia: porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
11Bienaventurados sois cuando os vituperaren y os persiguieren, y dijeren de vosotros todo mal por mi causa, mintiendo.
12Gozaos y alegraos; porque vuestra merced es grande en los cielos: que así persiguieron á los profetas que fueron antes de vosotros.
13Vosotros sois la sal de la tierra: y si la sal se desvaneciere ¿con qué será salada? no vale más para nada, sino para ser echada fuera y hollada de los hombres.
14Vosotros sois la luz del mundo: una ciudad asentada sobre un monte no se puede esconder.
15Ni se enciende una lámpara y se pone debajo de un almud, mas sobre el candelero, y alumbra á todos los que están en casa.
16Así alumbre vuestra luz delante de los hombres, para que vean vuestras obras buenas, y glorifiquen á vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
17No penséis que he venido para abrogar la ley ó los profetas: no he venido para abrogar, sino á cumplir.
18Porque de cierto os digo, que hasta que perezca el cielo y la tierra, ni una jota ni un tilde perecerá de la ley, hasta que todas las cosas sean hechas.
19De manera que cualquiera que infringiere uno de estos mandamientos muy pequeños, y así enseñare á los hombres, muy pequeño será llamado en el reino de los cielos: mas cualquiera que hiciere y enseñare, éste será llamado grande en el reino de los cielos.
20Porque os digo, que si vuestra justicia no fuere mayor que la de los escribas y de los Fariseos, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
21Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: No matarás; mas cualquiera que matare, será culpado del juicio.
22Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que se enojare locamente con su hermano, será culpado del juicio; y cualquiera que dijere á su hermano, Raca, será culpado del concejo; y cualquiera que dijere, Fatuo, será culpado del infierno del fuego.
23Por tanto, si trajeres tu presente al altar, y allí te acordares de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24Deja allí tu presente delante del altar, y vete, vuelve primero en amistad con tu hermano, y entonces ven y ofrece tu presente.
25Concíliate con tu adversario presto, entre tanto que estás con él en el camino; porque no acontezca que el adversario te entregue al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y seas echado en prisión.
26De cierto te digo, que no saldrás de allí, hasta que pagues el último cuadrante.
27Oísteis que fué dicho: No adulterarás:
28Mas yo os digo, que cualquiera que mira á una mujer para codiciarla, ya adulteró con ella en su corazón.
29Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo, y échalo de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.
30Y si tu mano derecha te fuere ocasión de caer, córtala, y échala de ti: que mejor te es que se pierda uno de tus miembros, que no que todo tu cuerpo sea echado al infierno.
31También fué dicho: Cualquiera que repudiare á su mujer, déle carta de divorcio:
32Mas yo os digo, que el que repudiare á su mujer, fuera de causa de fornicación, hace que ella adultere; y el que se casare con la repudiada, comete adulterio.
33Además habéis oído que fué dicho á los antiguos: No te perjurarás; mas pagarás al Señor tus juramentos.
34Mas yo os digo: No juréis en ninguna manera: ni por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios;
35Ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies; ni por Jerusalem, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.
36Ni por tu cabeza jurarás, porque no puedes hacer un cabello blanco ó negro.
37Mas sea vuestro hablar: Sí, sí; No, no; porque lo que es más de esto, de mal procede.
38Oísteis que fué dicho á los antiguos: Ojo por ojo, y diente por diente.
39Mas yo os digo: No resistáis al mal; antes á cualquiera que te hiriere en tu mejilla diestra, vuélvele también la otra;
40Y al que quisiere ponerte á pleito y tomarte tu ropa, déjale también la capa;
41Y á cualquiera que te cargare por una milla, ve con él dos.
42Al que te pidiere, dale; y al que quisiere tomar de ti prestado, no se lo rehuses.
43Oísteis que fué dicho: Amarás á tu prójimo, y aborrecerás á tu enemigo.
44Mas yo os digo: Amad á vuestros enemigos, bendecid á los que os maldicen, haced bien á los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen;
45Para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos: que hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos, y llueve sobre justos é injustos.
46Porque si amareis á los que os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¿no hacen también lo mismo los publicanos?
47Y si abrazareis á vuestros hermanos solamente, ¿qué hacéis de más? ¿no hacen también así los Gentiles?
48Sed, pues, vosotros perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en los cielos es perfecto.

2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

23Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
31It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

13“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

20For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
21“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
22But I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment. Whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ will be in danger of the council. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.
23“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25Agree with your adversary quickly while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.

33“Again you have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’
34but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
36Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

39But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
44But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
47If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
