1Hierauf wird das Reich der Himmel gleich sein zehn Jungfrauen, die mit ihren Lampen zum Empfange des Bräutigams auszogen.
2Fünf aber von ihnen waren thöricht und fünf waren klug.
3So nahmen denn die thörichten die Lampen, aber sie nahmen kein Oel mit.
4Die klugen aber nahmen Oel mit in den Gefäßen nebst ihren Lampen.
5Als aber der Bräutigam zögerte, nickten sie alle ein und schliefen.
6Mitten in der Nacht aber entstand ein Geschrei: siehe da der Bräutigam, geht hinaus zum Empfang.
7Hierauf wachten die Jungfrauen alle auf und richteten ihre Lampen.
8Die thörichten aber sagten zu den klugen: gebt uns von eurem Oel, denn unsere Lampen verlöschen.
9Die klugen aber antworteten: es möchte nicht reichen für uns und euch; gehet lieber hin zu den Verkäufern und kaufet euch.
10Da sie aber hingiengen zu kaufen, kam der Bräutigam, und die bereit waren, zogen mit ihm ein zur Hochzeit, und die Thüre ward zugeschlossen.
11Nachher aber kommen auch die übrigen Jungfrauen und sagen: Herr, Herr, öffne uns.
12Er aber antwortete: wahrlich, ich sage euch, ich kenne euch nicht.
13So wachet nun, weil ihr den Tag nicht wisset noch die Stunde.
14Es ist wie bei einem Menschen, der verreiste, seine Knechte berief, und ihnen seine Habe übergab,
15und gab dem einen fünf Talente, dem andern zwei, dem dritten eines, jedem nach seiner Fähigkeit, und verreiste.
16Alsobald gieng hin, der die fünf Talente bekommen, trieb sie um, und gewann weitere fünf.
17Ebenso der die zwei erhalten, gewann weitere zwei.
18Aber der das eine erhalten, gieng hin, scharrte die Erde auf und vergrub das Geld seines Herrn.
19Lange Zeit darauf aber kommt der Herr jener Knechte und hält Rechnung mit ihnen.
20Und der die fünf Talente erhalten hatte, kam herbei und brachte fünf weitere Talente, und sagte: Herr, du hast mir fünf Talente übergeben; siehe, ich habe fünf weitere Talente gewonnen.
21Sagte sein Herr zu ihm: gut, du braver und treuer Knecht; du bist über weniges getreu gewesen, ich will dich über viel setzen; gehe ein zu deines Herrn Freude.
22Es kam auch der mit den zwei Talenten herzu und sagte: Herr, du hast mir zwei Talente übergeben; siehe, ich habe zwei weitere Talente gewonnen.
23Sagte sein Herr zu ihm: gut, du braver und treuer Knecht, du bist über weniges treu gewesen, ich will dich über viel setzen; gehe ein zu deines Herrn Freude.
24Es kam aber auch der, welcher das eine Talent bekommen hatte, und sagte: Herr, ich kannte dich als einen harten Mann, daß du erntest, wo du nicht gesät, und sammelst, wo du nichts ausgestreut,
25so fürchtete ich mich, gieng hin und verbarg dein Talent in der Erde; siehe, da hast du das deinige.
26Aber sein Herr antwortete ihm: du böser und fauler Knecht, du wußtest, daß ich ernte, wo ich nicht gesät, und sammle, wo ich nichts ausgestreut?
27So mußtest du mein Geld den Wechslern bringen, und wenn ich dann kam, so holte ich mir das meinige mit Zins.
28Darum nehmet ihm das Talent und gebt es dem, der die zehn Talente hat.
29Denn wer da hat, dem wird gegeben werden, und immer mehr gegeben werden; wer aber nicht hat, von dem wird auch genommen werden, das er hat.
30Und den unnützen Knecht werfet hinaus in die Finsternis draußen, da wird sein Heulen und Zähneknirschen.
31Wenn aber der Sohn des Menschen kommt in seiner Herrlichkeit und alle Engel mit ihm, hierauf wird er sich setzen auf den Thron seiner Herrlichkeit;
32und es werden vor ihm versammelt werden alle Völker, und er wird sie von einander scheiden, wie der Hirte scheidet die Schafe von den Böcken,
33und er wird die Schafe auf seine rechte, die Böcke aber auf seine linke Seite stellen.
34Hierauf wird der König sagen zu denen auf seiner rechten: gehet hin, ihr Gesegnete meines Vaters, ererbet das Reich, das euch bereitet ist von der Schöpfung der Welt her.
35Ich habe gehungert und ihr gabt mir zu essen, ich habe gedürstet und ihr habt mich getränkt, ich war fremd und ihr habt mich eingeladen,
36bloß und ihr habt mich bekleidet, ich war krank und ihr habt nach mir gesehen, ich war im Gefängnis und ihr kamet zu mir.
37Hierauf werden ihm die Gerechten antworten: Herr, wann haben wir dich hungern sehen und gespeiset? oder durstig und getränkt?
38Wann haben wir dich fremd gesehen und eingeladen, oder bloß und bekleidet?
39Wann haben wir dich krank gesehen, oder im Gefängnis und sind zu dir gekommen?
40Und der König wird ihnen antworten: wahrlich, ich sage euch, so viel ihr einem von diesen meinen geringsten Brüdern gethan, habt ihr mir gethan.
41Hierauf wird er auch sagen zu denen auf der linken: gehet hinweg von mir, ihr Verfluchte, in das ewige Feuer, das bereitet ist den Teufeln und seinen Engeln.
42Denn ich habe gehungert und ihr gabt mir nicht zu essen, ich habe gedürstet und ihr habt mich nicht getränkt,
43ich war fremd und ihr habt mich nicht eingeladen, bloß und ihr habt mich nicht bekleidet, krank und im Gefängnis, und ihr habt nicht nach mir gesehen.
44Hierauf werden auch sie antworten: Herr, wann haben wir dich hungern oder dürsten oder fremd oder bloß oder krank oder im Gefängnis gesehen, und haben dir nicht gedient?
45Hierauf wird er ihnen antworten: wahrlich, ich sage euch, so viel ihr nicht gethan habt einem von diesen Geringsten, habt ihr auch mir nicht gethan.
46Und es werden hingehen diese zu ewiger Strafe, die Gerechten aber zu ewigem Leben.

1ENTONCES el reino de los cielos será semejante á diez vírgenes, que tomando sus lámparas, salieron á recibir al esposo.
2Y las cinco de ellas eran prudentes, y las cinco fatuas.
3Las que eran fatuas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;
4Mas las prudentes tomaron aceite en sus vasos, juntamente con sus lámparas.
5Y tardándose el esposo, cabecearon todas, y se durmieron.
6Y á la media noche fué oído un clamor: He aquí, el esposo viene; salid á recibirle.
7Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron, y aderezaron sus lámparas.
8Y las fatuas dijeron á las prudentes: Dadnos de vuestro aceite; porque nuestras lámparas se apagan.
9Mas las prudentes respondieron, diciendo: Porque no nos falte á nosotras y á vosotras, id antes á los que venden, y comprad para vosotras.
10Y mientras que ellas iban á comprar, vino el esposo; y las que estaban apercibidas, entraron con él á las bodas; y se cerró la puerta.
11Y después vinieron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: Señor, Señor, ábrenos.
12Mas respondiendo él, dijo: De cierto os digo, que no os conozco.
13Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir.
14Porque el reino de los cielos es como un hombre que partiéndose lejos llamó á sus siervos, y les entregó sus bienes.
15Y á éste dió cinco talentos, y al otro dos, y al otro uno: á cada uno conforme á su facultad; y luego se partió lejos.
16Y el que había recibido cinco talentos se fué, y granjeó con ellos, é hizo otros cinco talentos.
17Asimismo el que había recibido dos, ganó también él otros dos.
18Mas el que había recibido uno, fué y cavó en la tierra, y escondió el dinero de su señor.
19Y después de mucho tiempo, vino el señor de aquellos siervos, é hizo cuentas con ellos.
20Y llegando el que había recibido cinco talentos, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros cinco talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
21Y su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
22Y llegando también el que había recibido dos talentos, dijo: Señor, dos talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros dos talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
23Su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
24Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste, y recoges donde no esparciste;
25Y tuve miedo, y fuí, y escondí tu talento en la tierra: he aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.
26Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Malo y negligente siervo, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;
27Por tanto te convenía dar mi dinero á los banqueros, y viniendo yo, hubiera recibido lo que es mío con usura.
28Quitadle pues el talento, y dadlo al que tiene diez talentos.
29Porque á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado, y tendrá más; y al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
30Y al siervo inútil echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
31Y cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en su gloria, y todos los santos ángeles con él, entonces se sentará sobre el trono de su gloria.
32Y serán reunidas delante de él todas las gentes: y los apartará los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor las ovejas de los cabritos.
33Y pondrá las ovejas á su derecha, y los cabritos á la izquierda.
34Entonces el Rey dirá á los que estarán á su derecha: Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el reino preparado para vosotros desde la fundación del mundo:
35Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fuí huésped, y me recogisteis;
36Desnudo, y me cubristeis; enfermo, y me visitasteis; estuve en la cárcel, y vinisteis á mí.
37Entonces los justos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, y te sustentamos? ¿ó sediento, y te dimos de beber?
38¿Y cuándo te vimos huésped, y te recogimos? ¿ó desnudo, y te cubrimos?
39¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y vinimos á ti?
40Y respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis á uno de estos mis hermanos pequeñitos, á mí lo hicisteis.
41Entonces dirá también á los que estarán á la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y para sus ángeles:
42Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;
43Fuí huésped, y no me recogisteis; desnudo, y no me cubristeis; enfermo, y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.
44Entonces también ellos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, ó sediento, ó huésped, ó desnudo, ó enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y no te servimos?
45Entonces les responderá, diciendo: De cierto os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis á uno de estos pequeñitos, ni á mí lo hicisteis.
46E irán éstos al tormento eterno, y los justos á la vida eterna.

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14“For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them.
15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
18But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
19“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them.
20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
21“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22“He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
23“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24“He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter.
25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away.
30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

37“Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?
38When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
39When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
40“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
41Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
