1Alors le royaume des cieux ressemblera à dix vierges qui, après avoir pris leurs lampes, sortirent à la rencontre de l'époux.
2Or cinq d'entre elles étaient étourdies, et cinq étaient prudentes.
3En effet les étourdies, après avoir pris leurs lampes, ne prirent pas d'huile avec elles,
4tandis que les prudentes prirent de l'huile dans leurs burettes avec leurs lampes.
5Mais comme l'époux tardait, toutes s'assoupirent, et elles dormaient.
6Or, au milieu de la nuit, un cri se fit entendre : « Voici l'époux ! sortez à sa rencontre ! »
7Alors toutes ces vierges s'éveillèrent et arrangèrent leurs lampes.
8Or les étourdies dirent aux prudentes : « Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes sont éteintes ; »
9mais les prudentes répliquèrent : « Jamais il n'y en aura assez pour nous et pour vous ; allez plutôt chez ceux qui en vendent et achetez-en pour vous. »
10Or, pendant qu'elles allaient en acheter, survint l'époux, et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui à la noce, et la porte fut fermée.
11Mais plus tard surviennent aussi les autres vierges disant : « Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous. »
12Mais il leur répliqua : « En vérité je vous le déclare, je ne vous connais point. »
13Veillez donc, car vous ne connaissez ni le jour, ni l'heure.
14De même en effet qu'un homme partant pour un voyage appela ses esclaves, et leur remit ses biens,
15et qu'à l'un il donna cinq talents, et à un autre deux, et à un troisième un, à chacun selon sa capacité particulière, et qu'il partit pour son voyage ;
16aussitôt celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents alla les faire valoir, et il en gagna cinq autres.
17De même aussi celui qui avait reçu les deux en gagna deux autres.
18Mais celui qui n'en avait reçu qu'un s'en alla faire un creux en terre, et y cacha l'argent de son maître.
19Or, après un long espace de temps, le maître de ces esclaves revient et leur fait rendre compte.
20Et celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents s'étant approché apporta cinq autres talents, en disant : « Seigneur, tu m'as remis cinq talents, regarde, j'ai gagné cinq autres talents. »
21Son maître lui dit : « Bien, bon et fidèle esclave, tu as été fidèle pour peu de chose, je te mettrai à la tête de beaucoup. Entre dans la joie de ton maître. »
22Celui qui avait reçu les deux talents s'étant aussi approché dit : « Seigneur, tu m'as remis deux talents, regarde, j'ai gagné deux autres talents. »
23Son maître lui dit : « Bien, bon et fidèle esclave, tu as été fidèle pour peu de chose, je te mettrai à la tête de beaucoup. Entre dans la joie de ton maître. »
24Mais celui qui avait reçu le seul talent s'étant aussi approché dit : « Seigneur, je te connaissais pour être un homme dur, moissonnant où tu n'as pas semé, et serrant le grain de là où tu n'as pas vanné,
25et tout craintif j'ai été cacher ton talent dans la terre, regarde, tu récupères ce qui est à toi. »
26Mais son maître lui répliqua : « Méchant et paresseux esclave, tu savais que je moissonne où je n'ai pas semé et que je serre le grain de là où je n'ai pas vanné ?
27Il te fallait donc porter mon argent aux banquiers, et à mon retour j'aurais retiré ce qui était à moi avec l'intérêt.
28Enlevez-lui donc le talent et donnez-le à celui ; qui a les dix talents.
29Car à quiconque a il sera donné, et il regorgera ; mais quant à celui qui n'a pas, même ce qu'il a lui sera enlevé.
30Et jetez cet esclave inutile dans les ténèbres extérieures ; c'est là que sera le pleur et le grincement des dents.
31Or, quand le fils de l'homme viendra dans sa gloire, et tous les anges avec lui, alors il s'assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire,
32et toutes les nations seront rassemblées devant lui, et il les séparera les unes d'avec les autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis d'avec les chevreaux,
33et il placera les brebis à sa droite et les chevreaux à sa gauche,
34Alors le roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite : « Venez, vous qui êtes bénis de mon Père, prenez possession du royaume qui vous a été préparé dès la fondation du monde.
35Car j'ai eu faim, et vous m'avez donné à manger ; j'ai eu soif, et vous m'avez donné à boire ; j'étais étranger, et vous m'avez recueilli ;
36nu, et vous m'avez vêtu ; j'ai été malade, et vous m'avez visité ; j'étais en prison, et vous êtes venus auprès de moi. »
37Alors les justes lui répliqueront : « Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu avoir faim, et t'avons-nous nourri ? Ou avoir soif, et t'avons-nous donné à boire ?
38Mais quand t'avons-nous vu étranger, et t'avons-nous recueilli ? Ou nu, et t'avons-nous vêtu ?
39Et quand t'avons-nous vu malade ou en prison, et sommes-nous venus auprès de toi ? »
40Et le roi leur répliquera : « En vérité je vous le déclare : en tant que vous l'avez fait pour un seul de ces tout petits, vous l'avez fait pour moi. »
41Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à gauche : « Allez loin de moi, maudits, dans le feu éternel qui a été préparé pour le diable et pour ses anges !
42Car j'ai eu faim et vous ne m'avez pas donné à manger ; et j'ai eu soif, et vous ne m'avez pas donné à boire ;
43j'étais étranger, et vous ne m'avez pas recueilli ; nu, et vous ne m'avez pas vêtu ; malade et en prison, et vous ne m'avez pas visité. »
44Alors eux aussi répliqueront : « Seigneur, quand t'avons-nous vu avoir faim ou avoir soif, ou étranger, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et ne t'avons-nous pas servi ? »
45Alors il leur répliquera : « En vérité je vous le déclare : en tant que vous ne l'avez pas fait pour un seul de ces tout petits, vous ne l'avez pas non plus fait pour moi. »
46Et ceux-ci s'en iront au châtiment éternel, mais les justes à la vie éternelle. »

1ENTONCES el reino de los cielos será semejante á diez vírgenes, que tomando sus lámparas, salieron á recibir al esposo.
2Y las cinco de ellas eran prudentes, y las cinco fatuas.
3Las que eran fatuas, tomando sus lámparas, no tomaron consigo aceite;
4Mas las prudentes tomaron aceite en sus vasos, juntamente con sus lámparas.
5Y tardándose el esposo, cabecearon todas, y se durmieron.
6Y á la media noche fué oído un clamor: He aquí, el esposo viene; salid á recibirle.
7Entonces todas aquellas vírgenes se levantaron, y aderezaron sus lámparas.
8Y las fatuas dijeron á las prudentes: Dadnos de vuestro aceite; porque nuestras lámparas se apagan.
9Mas las prudentes respondieron, diciendo: Porque no nos falte á nosotras y á vosotras, id antes á los que venden, y comprad para vosotras.
10Y mientras que ellas iban á comprar, vino el esposo; y las que estaban apercibidas, entraron con él á las bodas; y se cerró la puerta.
11Y después vinieron también las otras vírgenes, diciendo: Señor, Señor, ábrenos.
12Mas respondiendo él, dijo: De cierto os digo, que no os conozco.
13Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir.
14Porque el reino de los cielos es como un hombre que partiéndose lejos llamó á sus siervos, y les entregó sus bienes.
15Y á éste dió cinco talentos, y al otro dos, y al otro uno: á cada uno conforme á su facultad; y luego se partió lejos.
16Y el que había recibido cinco talentos se fué, y granjeó con ellos, é hizo otros cinco talentos.
17Asimismo el que había recibido dos, ganó también él otros dos.
18Mas el que había recibido uno, fué y cavó en la tierra, y escondió el dinero de su señor.
19Y después de mucho tiempo, vino el señor de aquellos siervos, é hizo cuentas con ellos.
20Y llegando el que había recibido cinco talentos, trajo otros cinco talentos, diciendo: Señor, cinco talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros cinco talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
21Y su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
22Y llegando también el que había recibido dos talentos, dijo: Señor, dos talentos me entregaste; he aquí otros dos talentos he ganado sobre ellos.
23Su señor le dijo: Bien, buen siervo y fiel; sobre poco has sido fiel, sobre mucho te pondré: entra en el gozo de tu señor.
24Y llegando también el que había recibido un talento, dijo: Señor, te conocía que eres hombre duro, que siegas donde no sembraste, y recoges donde no esparciste;
25Y tuve miedo, y fuí, y escondí tu talento en la tierra: he aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.
26Y respondiendo su señor, le dijo: Malo y negligente siervo, sabías que siego donde no sembré y que recojo donde no esparcí;
27Por tanto te convenía dar mi dinero á los banqueros, y viniendo yo, hubiera recibido lo que es mío con usura.
28Quitadle pues el talento, y dadlo al que tiene diez talentos.
29Porque á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado, y tendrá más; y al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
30Y al siervo inútil echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.
31Y cuando el Hijo del hombre venga en su gloria, y todos los santos ángeles con él, entonces se sentará sobre el trono de su gloria.
32Y serán reunidas delante de él todas las gentes: y los apartará los unos de los otros, como aparta el pastor las ovejas de los cabritos.
33Y pondrá las ovejas á su derecha, y los cabritos á la izquierda.
34Entonces el Rey dirá á los que estarán á su derecha: Venid, benditos de mi Padre, heredad el reino preparado para vosotros desde la fundación del mundo:
35Porque tuve hambre, y me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y me disteis de beber; fuí huésped, y me recogisteis;
36Desnudo, y me cubristeis; enfermo, y me visitasteis; estuve en la cárcel, y vinisteis á mí.
37Entonces los justos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, y te sustentamos? ¿ó sediento, y te dimos de beber?
38¿Y cuándo te vimos huésped, y te recogimos? ¿ó desnudo, y te cubrimos?
39¿O cuándo te vimos enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y vinimos á ti?
40Y respondiendo el Rey, les dirá: De cierto os digo que en cuanto lo hicisteis á uno de estos mis hermanos pequeñitos, á mí lo hicisteis.
41Entonces dirá también á los que estarán á la izquierda: Apartaos de mí, malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y para sus ángeles:
42Porque tuve hambre, y no me disteis de comer; tuve sed, y no me disteis de beber;
43Fuí huésped, y no me recogisteis; desnudo, y no me cubristeis; enfermo, y en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.
44Entonces también ellos le responderán, diciendo: Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos hambriento, ó sediento, ó huésped, ó desnudo, ó enfermo, ó en la cárcel, y no te servimos?
45Entonces les responderá, diciendo: De cierto os digo que en cuanto no lo hicisteis á uno de estos pequeñitos, ni á mí lo hicisteis.
46E irán éstos al tormento eterno, y los justos á la vida eterna.

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

1“Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
3Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’
10While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
11Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’
12But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
13Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
14“For it is like a man going into another country, who called his own servants and entrusted his goods to them.
15To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17In the same way, he also who got the two gained another two.
18But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money.
19“Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and settled accounts with them.
20He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents in addition to them.’
21“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22“He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents in addition to them.’
23“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things. I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24“He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow, and gathering where you didn’t scatter.
25I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26“But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
27You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28Take away therefore the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away.
30Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
31“But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
32Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

38When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
39When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
40“The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
41Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
