Él dijo: "Los escribas y los Fariseos se sientan en la silla de Moisés.
Diciendo: Sobre la cátedra de Moisés se sentaron los escribas y los Fariseos:
Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:
saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat.
Por lo tanto cualquier cosa que ellos ordenan a ustedes hacer, hagan estas cosas y obsérvenlas. Pero no imiten sus actos, ya que ellos dicen cosas, pero entonces no las hacen.
Así que, todo lo que os dijeren que guardéis, guardadlo y hacedlo; mas no hagáis conforme á sus obras: porque dicen, y no hacen.
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.
Sí, ellos atan cargas pesadas que son difíciles de cargar, y entonces ellos las ponen en los hombros de las personas. Pero ellos mismos no moverían un dedo para cargarlas.
Porque atan cargas pesadas y difíciles de llevar, y las ponen sobre los hombros de los hombres; mas ni aun con su dedo las quieren mover.
For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Todos sus actos, los hacen para ser vistos por las personas. Pues ellos hacen sus filacterias anchas y ellos agrandan los bordes de sus vestiduras.
Antes, todas sus obras hacen para ser mirados de los hombres; porque ensanchan sus filacterias, y extienden los flecos de sus mantos;
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
But they do all their works to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
Ellos aman los mejores lugares en los banquetes y los mejores asientos en las sinagogas,
Y aman los primeros asientos en las cenas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas;
And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,
y saludos especiales en los mercados, y ser llamados 'Rabí' por la gente.
Y las salutaciones en las plazas, y ser llamados de los hombres Rabbí, Rabbí.
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.
Pero ustedes no deben ser llamados 'Rabí', porque solo tienen un maestro, y todos ustedes son hermanos.
Mas vosotros, no queráis ser llamados Rabbí; porque uno es vuestro Maestro, el Cristo; y todos vosotros sois hermanos.
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi’, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.
Y no llamen a ningún hombre en la tierra su padre, porque ustedes solo tienen un Padre, y Él está en el cielo.
Y vuestro padre no llaméis á nadie en la tierra; porque uno es vuestro Padre, el cual está en los cielos.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
Tampoco pueden ser llamados 'maestro´, ya que ustedes tienen un solo maestro, el Cristo.
Ni seáis llamados maestros; porque uno es vuestro Maestro, el Cristo.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Pero aquel que es más grande entre ustedes será su servidor.
El que es el mayor de vosotros, sea vuestro siervo.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Quienquiera que se exalta a sí mismo será humillado. Y cualquiera que se humilla a sí mismo será exaltado.
Porque el que se ensalzare, será humillado; y el que se humillare, será ensalzado.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
¡Pobre de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Ustedes cierran el reino del cielo en contra de las personas. Pues ustedes no entran ustedes mismos, y tampoco ustedes permiten a aquellos que están a punto de entrar, hacerlo.
Mas ¡ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque cerráis el reino de los cielos delante de los hombres; que ni vosotros entráis, ni á los que están entrando dejáis entrar.
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
¡Pobre de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Ustedes que despojan a las viudas.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque coméis las casas de las viudas, y por pretexto hacéis larga oración: por esto llevaréis más grave juicio.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.
¡Ay de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Pues ustedes que van por mar y tierra para convertir a uno. Y cuando él se ha convertido, ustedes lo hacen doblemente hijo del infierno al igual que ustedes.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque rodeáis la mar y la tierra por hacer un prosélito; y cuando fuere hecho, le hacéis hijo del infierno doble más que vosotros.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of Gehenna as yourselves.
Pobre de ustedes, ustedes guías ciegos, ustedes que dicen: ´Cualquiera que jure por el templo, no es nada. Pero cualquiera que jura por el oro del templo, ése está atado a su juramento.'
¡Ay de vosotros, guías ciegos! que decís: Cualquiera que jurare por el templo es nada; mas cualquiera que jurare por el oro del templo, deudor es.
Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
“Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
Ustedes tontos ciegos, ¿qué es más importante, el oro, o el templo que ha dedicado el oro a Dios?
¡Insensatos y ciegos! porque ¿cuál es mayor, el oro, ó el templo que santifica al oro?
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
Y, ´Cualquiera que jura por el altar, no es nada. Pero cualquiera que jura por la ofrenda que está sobre él, él se ata a su juramento.
Y: Cualquiera que jurare por el altar, es nada; mas cualquiera que jurare por el presente que está sobre él, deudor es.
And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated.’
Ustedes personas ciegas, ¿qué es más grande, la ofrenda o el altar que dedica la ofrenda a Dios?
¡Necios y ciegos! porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el presente, ó el altar que santifica al presente?
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
Por lo tanto, aquel que jura por el altar, jura por todas las cosas que están en él.
Pues el que jurare por el altar, jura por él, y por todo lo que está sobre él;
Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it and by everything on it.
Y aquel que jura por el templo jura por él y por quien habita en él.
Y el que jurare por el templo, jura por él, y por Aquél que habita en él;
And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
He who swears by the temple, swears by it and by him who has been living in it.
Y aquel que jura por el cielo jura por el trono de Dios y por Él que se sienta en él.
Y el que jura por el cielo, jura por el trono de Dios, y por Aquél que está sentado sobre él.
And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by him who sits on it.
¡Pobre de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Pues ustedes diezman menta, eneldo y comino, pero ustedes han dejado de hacer los asuntos de más peso de la ley-- justicia, misericordia y fe. Pero éstas debiste haber hecho, sin dejar de hacer las otras.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque diezmáis la menta y el eneldo y el comino, y dejasteis lo que es lo más grave de la ley, es á saber, el juicio y la misericordia y la fe: esto era menester hacer, y no dejar lo otro.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
¡Ustedes guías ciegos, ustedes que cuelan un mosquito pero tragan un camello!
¡Guías ciegos, que coláis el mosquito, mas tragáis el camello!
Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
¡Pobre de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Pues ustedes limpian por fuera el vaso y el plato, pero por dentro están llenos de extorsión y excesos.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque limpiáis lo que está de fuera del vaso y del plato; mas de dentro están llenos de robo y de injusticia.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
Ustedes Fariseos ciegos, limpien primero la parte de adentro del vaso y del plato, para que lo de afuera sea limpiado también.
¡Fariseo ciego, limpia primero lo de dentro del vaso y del plato, para que también lo de fuera se haga limpio!
Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
¡Pobre de ustedes, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Pues ustedes son como tumbas blanqueadas, que por fuera lucen hermosos, pero adentro están llenos de huesos de hombre muerto y toda cosa inmunda.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque sois semejantes á sepulcros blanqueados, que de fuera, á la verdad, se muestran hermosos, mas de dentro están llenos de huesos de muertos y de toda suciedad.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness.
De la misma manera, ustedes también por fuera parecen justos ante hombres, pero están llenos de hipocresía e iniquidad.
Así también vosotros de fuera, á la verdad, os mostráis justos á los hombres; mas de dentro, llenos estáis de hipocresía é iniquidad.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
¡Pobre de ustedes escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! Pues ustedes construyen las tumbas de los profetas y decoran las tumbas de los justos.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y Fariseos, hipócritas! porque edificáis los sepulcros de los profetas, y adornáis los monumentos de los justos,
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
Ustedes dicen: 'Si hubiéramos vivido en los tiempos de nuestros padres, nosotros no hubiéramos sido participantes con ellos en derramar la sangre de los profetas.'
Y decís: Si fuéramos en los días de nuestros padres, no hubiéramos sido sus compañeros en la sangre de los profetas.
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
Por lo tanto, ustedes testifican a ustedes mismos que ustedes son hijos de quienes mataron a los profetas.
Así que, testimonio dais á vosotros mismos, que sois hijos de aquellos que mataron á los profetas.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
Ustedes también llenan la cuota de los pecados de sus padres.
¡Vosotros también henchid la medida de vuestros padres!
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
Ustedes serpientes, descendencia de víboras, ¿cómo van a escapar al juicio del infierno?
¡Serpientes, generación de víboras! ¿cómo evitaréis el juicio del infierno?
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna?
Por lo tanto, vean, Yo les envío a ustedes profetas, hombres sabios y escribas. Algunos de ellos ustedes los matarán y crucificarán. Y a otros los azotarán en sus sinagogas y perseguirán de ciudad a ciudad.
Por tanto, he aquí, yo envío á vosotros profetas, y sabios, y escribas: y de ellos, á unos mataréis y crucificaréis, y á otros de ellos azotaréis en vuestras sinagogas, y perseguiréis de ciudad en ciudad:
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,
El resultado es que sobre ustedes vendrá toda la sangre de los justos derramada en tierra, desde la sangre del justo Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías el hijo de Berequías, a quienes ustedes mataron entre el santuario y el altar.
Para que venga sobre vosotros toda la sangre justa que se ha derramado sobre la tierra, desde la sangre de Abel el justo, hasta la sangre de Zacarías, hijo de Barachîas, al cual matasteis entre el templo y el altar.
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.
Ciertamente Yo les digo a ustedes, que todas estas cosas ocurrirán a esta generación.
De cierto os digo que todo esto vendrá sobre esta generación.
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, ustedes que matan los profetas y apedrean a aquellos que son enviados a ustedes! ¡Cuántas veces anhelé reunir a tus hijos, como las gallinas reúne a sus pollitos bajo sus alas, pero tú no aceptaste!
¡Jerusalem, Jerusalem, que matas á los profetas, y apedreas á los que son enviados á ti! ¡cuántas veces quise juntar tus hijos, como la gallina junta sus pollos debajo de las alas, y no quisiste!
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
Mira, tu casa es dejada a ustedes abandonada.
He aquí vuestra casa os es dejada desierta.
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
Por lo que Yo les digo, ustedes no me verán de ahora en adelante, hasta que ustedes digan: 'Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor.'"
Porque os digo que desde ahora no me veréis, hasta que digáis: Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor.
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
