1Or, en ce moment-là, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus en disant : « Quel est donc le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux ? »
2Et ayant appelé un petit enfant, il le plaça au milieu d'eux,
3et dit : « En vérité, je vous le déclare, si vous ne vous convertissez, et si vous ne devenez comme les petits enfants, vous n'entrerez certainement pas dans le royaume des cieux.
4Quiconque donc s'humiliera comme ce petit enfant, celui-là est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux ;
5et celui qui aura reçu en mon nom un seul petit enfant comme celui-là, il me reçoit ;
6mais celui qui aura scandalisé un seul de ces petits qui croient en moi, mieux vaudrait pour lui qu'on suspendît autour de son col une meule de moulin à âne, et qu'on le précipitât dans les profondeurs de la mer.
7Malheur au monde à cause des scandales ; car il est nécessaire que les scandales arrivent ; néanmoins malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive !
8Mais si ta main ou ton pied sont pour toi une occasion de scandale, coupe-le et jette-le loin de toi ; il t'est bon d'entrer dans la vie estropié ou boiteux, plutôt que d'être jeté, en ayant deux mains ou deux pieds, dans le feu éternel.
9Et si ton œil est pour toi une occasion de scandale, arrache-le, et jette-le loin de toi ; il t'est bon d'entrer borgne dans la vie plutôt que d'être jeté, en ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne du feu.
10Prenez garde de ne pas mépriser un seul de ces petits ; car je vous déclare que leurs anges contemplent constamment dans le ciel la face de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
11Car le fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu.
12Que vous en semble ? Si un homme avait cent brebis et qu'une d'elles se fût égarée, est-ce qu'il ne laissera pas les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf brebis sur les montagnes pour aller chercher celle qui s'est égarée ?
13Et s'il arrive qu'il la trouve, en vérité je vous déclare qu'il éprouve à son sujet plus de joie que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées.
14De même, ce n'est pas la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux, qu'un seul de ces petits se perde.
15Mais si ton frère vient à pécher, va, reprends-le entre toi et lui seul ; s'il t'écoute, tu as gagné ton frère ;
16mais s'il ne t'écoute pas, prends encore une ou deux personnes avec toi, afin que sur une déclaration de deux ou trois témoins toute affaire soit décidée.
17Mais, s'il refuse de les écouter, adresse-toi à l'église, et s'il refuse aussi d'écouter l'église, qu'il soit pour toi comme le païen et le publicain.
18En vérité je vous le déclare, tout ce que vous aurez lié sur la terre, sera lié dans le ciel, et tout ce que vous aurez délié sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel.
19En vérité je vous déclare encore que, si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre pour quoi que ce soit qu'ils aient à demander, cela leur sera accordé par mon Père qui est dans les cieux ;
20car là où deux ou trois sont réunis en mon nom, je suis là au milieu d'eux. »
21Alors Pierre s'étant approché, lui dit : « Seigneur, combien de fois mon frère péchera-t-il contre moi et lui pardonnerai-je ? Sera-ce jusques à sept fois ? »
22Jésus lui dit : « Je ne te dis pas jusques à sept fois, mais jusques à soixante-dix fois sept.
23C'est pourquoi le royaume des cieux ressemble à un roi qui voulut faire rendre compte à ses esclaves.
24Or, après qu'il eut commencé à faire rendre compte, on lui amena un débiteur de dix mille talents.
25Mais comme il n'avait pas de quoi payer, le maître ordonna qu'il fût vendu, ainsi que sa femme, ses enfants et tout son avoir, et que la dette fût payée.
26L'esclave s'étant donc prosterné l'adorait en disant : « Prends patience à mon égard, et je te paierai tout. »
27Et le maître de l'esclave ayant été touché de compassion, le relâcha et lui remit le prêt.
28Mais l'esclave, après qu'il fut sorti, trouva un autre esclave qui servait avec lui, et qui lui devait cent deniers, et l'ayant saisi il l'étranglait en disant : « Paie, puisque tu dois. »
29L'esclave qui servait avec lui s'étant donc prosterné, le sollicitait en disant : « Prends patience à mon égard, et je te paierai ; »
30mais lui ne voulait pas, et tout au contraire il s'en alla le faire jeter en prison jusques à ce qu'il eût payé ce qu'il devait.
31Les esclaves qui servaient avec lui, ayant donc vu ce qui s'était passé, furent dans une grande tristesse, et ils vinrent informer leur maître de tout ce qui s'était passé.
32Alors son maître l'ayant fait venir lui dit : « Méchant esclave, je t'ai remis toute cette dette-là parce que tu m'en as sollicité ;
33ne fallait-il pas que, toi aussi, tu eusses pitié de l'esclave qui sert avec toi, comme moi de mon côté j'ai eu pitié de toi ? »
34Et son maître irrité le livra aux bourreaux jusques à ce qu'il eût payé tout ce qu'il devait.
35C'est ainsi que mon Père céleste agira aussi envers vous, si vous ne pardonnez pas, chacun à son frère, du fond de vos cœurs. »

1EN aquel tiempo se llegaron los discípulos á Jesús, diciendo: ¿Quién es el mayor en el reino de los cielos?
2Y llamando Jesús á un niño, le puso en medio de ellos,
3Y dijo: De cierto os digo, que si no os volviereis, y fuereis como niños, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
4Así que, cualquiera que se humillare como este niño, éste es el mayor en el reino de los cielos.
5Y cualquiera que recibiere á un tal niño en mi nombre, á mí recibe.
6Y cualquiera que escandalizare á alguno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, mejor le fuera que se le colgase al cuello una piedra de molino de asno, y que se le anegase en el profundo de la mar.
7¡Ay del mundo por los escándalos! porque necesario es que vengan escándalos; mas ¡ay de aquel hombre por el cual viene el escándalo!
8Por tanto, si tu mano ó tu pie te fuere ocasión de caer, córtalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar cojo ó manco en la vida, que teniendo dos manos ó dos pies ser echado en el fuego eterno.
9Y si tu ojo te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar con un solo ojo en la vida, que teniendo dos ojos ser echado en el infierno del fuego.
10Mirad no tengáis en poco á alguno de estos pequeños; porque os digo que sus ángeles en los cielos ven siempre la faz de mi Padre que está en los cielos.
11Porque el Hijo del hombre ha venido para salvar lo que se había perdido.
12¿Qué os parece? Si tuviese algún hombre cien ovejas, y se descarriase una de ellas, ¿no iría por los montes, dejadas las noventa y nueve, á buscar la que se había descarriado?
13Y si aconteciese hallarla, de cierto os digo, que más se goza de aquélla, que de las noventa y nueve que no se descarriaron.
14Así, no es la voluntad de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos, que se pierda uno de estos pequeños.
15Por tanto, si tu hermano pecare contra ti, ve, y redargúyele entre ti y él solo: si te oyere, has ganado á tu hermano.
16Mas si no te oyere, toma aún contigo uno ó dos, para que en boca de dos ó de tres testigos conste toda palabra.
17Y si no oyere á ellos, dilo á la iglesia: y si no oyere á la iglesia, tenle por étnico y publicano.
18De cierto os digo que todo lo que ligareis en la tierra, será ligado en el cielo; y todo lo que desatareis en la tierra, será desatado en el cielo.
19Otra vez os digo, que si dos de vosotros se convinieren en la tierra, de toda cosa que pidieren, les será hecho por mi Padre que está en los cielos.
20Porque donde están dos ó tres congregados en mi nombre, allí estoy en medio de ellos.
21Entonces Pedro, llegándose á él, dijo: Señor, ¿cuántas veces perdonaré á mi hermano que pecare contra mí? ¿hasta siete?
22Jesús le dice: No te digo hasta siete, mas aun hasta setenta veces siete.
23Por lo cual, el reino de los cielos es semejante á un hombre rey, que quiso hacer cuentas con sus siervos.
24Y comenzando á hacer cuentas, le fué presentado uno que le debía diez mil talentos.
25Mas á éste, no pudiendo pagar, mandó su señor venderle, y á su mujer é hijos, con todo lo que tenía, y que se le pagase.
26Entonces aquel siervo, postrado, le adoraba, diciendo: Señor, ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.
27El señor, movido á misericordia de aquel siervo, le soltó y le perdonó la deuda.
28Y saliendo aquel siervo, halló á uno de sus consiervos, que le debía cien denarios; y trabando de él, le ahogaba, diciendo: Págame lo que debes.
29Entonces su consiervo, postrándose á sus pies, le rogaba, diciendo: Ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.
30Mas él no quiso; sino fué, y le echó en la cárcel hasta que pagase la deuda.
31Y viendo sus consiervos lo que pasaba, se entristecieron mucho, y viniendo, declararon á su señor todo lo que había pasado.
32Entonces llamándole su señor, le dice: Siervo malvado, toda aquella deuda te perdoné, porque me rogaste:
33¿No te convenía también á ti tener misericordia de tu consiervo, como también yo tuve misericordia de ti?
34Entonces su señor, enojado, le entregó á los verdugos, hasta que pagase todo lo que le debía.
35Así también hará con vosotros mi Padre celestial, si no perdonareis de vuestros corazones cada uno á su hermano sus ofensas.

1At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
8Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
9And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
10Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
21Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
World English Bible
1In that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”
2Jesus called a little child to himself, and set him in the middle of them
3and said, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
4Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
5Whoever receives one such little child in my name receives me,
6but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.
7“Woe to the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must be that the occasions come, but woe to that person through whom the occasion comes!
8If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life maimed or crippled, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.
9If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire.
10See that you don’t despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
11For the Son of Man came to save that which was lost.
12“What do you think? If a man has one hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine, go to the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray?
13If he finds it, most certainly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.
14Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
15“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.

17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector.
18Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven.
19Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”

23Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24When he had begun to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
25But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26The servant therefore fell down and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’
27The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him and forgave him the debt.
28“But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’
29“So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’
30He would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay back that which was due.
31So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told their lord all that was done.
32Then his lord called him in and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
33Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’
34His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
35So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds.”
