1In jener Stunde traten die Jünger vor Jesus mit der Frage: "Wer ist der Größte im Himmelreich?"
2Da rief Jesus sich ein Kind herbei, stellte es mitten unter sie
3mit den Worten: "Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn ihr euch nicht bekehrt und werdet wie die Kinder, so werdet ihr sicher nicht ins Himmelreich eingehen.
4Doch wer sich demütig macht wie dieses Kind, der ist der Größte im Himmelreich.
5Und wer ein solches Kind in meinem Namen aufnimmt, nimmt mich auf.
6Wer aber einem dieser Kleinen, die an mich glauben, Anlaß zur Sünde gibt, für den wäre es besser, wenn ihm ein großer Mühlstein an den Hals gehängt und er ins tiefste Meer versenkt würde.
7Wehe der Welt der Ärgernisse wegen. Ärgernisse müssen zwar kommen, doch weh dem Menschen, durch den das Ärgernis kommt.
8Gibt dir also deine Hand oder dein Fuß zur Sünde Anlaß, so haue sie ab und wirf sie weg. Besser ist es für dich, verstümmelt oder hinkend in das Leben einzugehen, als daß du zwei Hände und zwei Füße habest und in das ewige Feuer geworfen wirst.
9Gibt dein Auge dir zur Sünde Anlaß, so reiß es aus und wirf es weg.. Besser ist es für dich, mit einem Auge in das Leben einzugehen, als daß du zwei Augen habest und in das Höllenfeuer geworfen wirst.
10Hütet euch, daß ihr keines dieser Kleinen verachtet. Ich sage euch: Ihre Engel in den Himmeln schauen immerfort das Antlitz meines Vaters, der in den Himmeln ist.
11Denn der Menschensohn ist gekommen, zu retten, was verloren war.
12Was dünkt euch? Wenn einer hundert Schafe hat und eines sich davon verläuft, läßt er nicht die neunundneunzig auf den Bergen und macht sich auf, um das verlaufene zu suchen?
13Und hat er dann das Glück, es aufzufinden, wahrlich, sage ich euch: Er freut sich mehr über dieses, als über jene neunundneunzig, die sich nicht verlaufen hatten.
14So ist es nicht der Wille eures Vaters, der in den Himmeln ist, daß eines dieser Kleinen verlorengehe.
15Und hat dein Bruder gegen dich gefehlt, geh hin, stelle ihn zur Rede, doch nur unter vier Augen. Hört er alsdann auf dich, so hast du deinen Bruder gewonnen.
16Doch hört er nicht, dann nimm noch einen oder zwei mit dir, damit durch zweier oder dreier Zeugen Mund die ganze Sache festgestellt werde.
17Hört er dann auch auf diese nicht, so sage es der Kirche. Hört er jedoch auf die Kirche nicht, dann gelte er dir wie ein Heide und ein Zöllner.
18Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Was immer ihr auf Erden binden werdet, das wird auch im Himmel gebunden sein; was immer ihr auf Erden lösen werdet, das wird auch im Himmel gelöst sein.
19Wahrlich sage ich euch ferner: Um was immer zwei aus euch einmütig auf Erden bitten werden, das wird ihnen von meinem Vater, der in den Himmeln ist, gegeben werden.
20Denn wo zwei oder drei in meinem Namen beieinander sind, da bin ich mitten unter ihnen."
21Darauf trat Petrus zu ihm hin und fragte: "Herr, wie oft muß ich meinem Bruder verzeihen, wenn er wider mich gesündigt hat? Etwa bis zu siebenmal?"
22Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Nein, ich sage dir, nicht bis zu siebenmal, vielmehr siebenundsiebzigmal.
23So ist das Himmelreich einem Könige zu vergleichen, der mit seinen Knechten abrechnen wollte.
24Und als er anfing abzurechnen, da brachte man ihm einen mit einer Schuld von zehntausend Talenten.
25Er hatte nichts, womit er hätte zahlen können, und so befahl sein Herr, ihn, sein Weib und seine Kinder mit der ganzen Habe zu verkaufen, um damit zu zahlen.
26Da warf sich der Knecht ihm zu Füßen; er bat: 'Herr, habe Geduld mit mir; ich will dir alles bezahlen.'
27Voll Mitleid mit diesem Knechte ließ der Herr ihn frei und schenkte ihm die Schuld.
28Der Knecht ging hinaus und traf einen seiner Mitknechte, der ihm hundert Zehner schuldig war. Er packte und würgte ihn und schrie: 'Bezahle, was du schuldig bist!'
29Da fiel der Mitknecht vor ihm nieder und bat ihn mit den Worten: 'Habe Geduld mit mir; ich werde dich bezahlen.'
30Allein der wollte nicht, ging vielmehr hin und ließ ihn ins Gefängnis werfen, bis er die Schuld bezahlt hätte.
31Dies hatten seine Mitknechte mit angesehen und waren tief betrübt darüber. Sie gingen hin und erzählten ihrem Herrn alles, was sich ereignet hatte.
32Da ließ ihn sein Herr vor sich kommen und sprach zu ihm: 'Du böser Knecht! Jene ganze Schuld habe ich dir nachgelassen, weil du mich so angefleht hast.
33Hättest nicht auch du dich deines Mitknechtes erbarmen müssen, wie ich mich deiner erbarmt habe?'
34Und sein Herr übergab ihn voll Zorn den Folterknechten, bis er ihm die ganze Schuld abgetragen hätte.
35So wird auch mein himmlischer Vater mit euch verfahren, wenn nicht ein jeder seinem Bruder von ganzem Herzen verzeiht."

1EN aquel tiempo se llegaron los discípulos á Jesús, diciendo: ¿Quién es el mayor en el reino de los cielos?
2Y llamando Jesús á un niño, le puso en medio de ellos,
3Y dijo: De cierto os digo, que si no os volviereis, y fuereis como niños, no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.
4Así que, cualquiera que se humillare como este niño, éste es el mayor en el reino de los cielos.
5Y cualquiera que recibiere á un tal niño en mi nombre, á mí recibe.
6Y cualquiera que escandalizare á alguno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, mejor le fuera que se le colgase al cuello una piedra de molino de asno, y que se le anegase en el profundo de la mar.
7¡Ay del mundo por los escándalos! porque necesario es que vengan escándalos; mas ¡ay de aquel hombre por el cual viene el escándalo!
8Por tanto, si tu mano ó tu pie te fuere ocasión de caer, córtalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar cojo ó manco en la vida, que teniendo dos manos ó dos pies ser echado en el fuego eterno.
9Y si tu ojo te fuere ocasión de caer, sácalo y échalo de ti: mejor te es entrar con un solo ojo en la vida, que teniendo dos ojos ser echado en el infierno del fuego.
10Mirad no tengáis en poco á alguno de estos pequeños; porque os digo que sus ángeles en los cielos ven siempre la faz de mi Padre que está en los cielos.
11Porque el Hijo del hombre ha venido para salvar lo que se había perdido.
12¿Qué os parece? Si tuviese algún hombre cien ovejas, y se descarriase una de ellas, ¿no iría por los montes, dejadas las noventa y nueve, á buscar la que se había descarriado?
13Y si aconteciese hallarla, de cierto os digo, que más se goza de aquélla, que de las noventa y nueve que no se descarriaron.
14Así, no es la voluntad de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos, que se pierda uno de estos pequeños.
15Por tanto, si tu hermano pecare contra ti, ve, y redargúyele entre ti y él solo: si te oyere, has ganado á tu hermano.
16Mas si no te oyere, toma aún contigo uno ó dos, para que en boca de dos ó de tres testigos conste toda palabra.
17Y si no oyere á ellos, dilo á la iglesia: y si no oyere á la iglesia, tenle por étnico y publicano.
18De cierto os digo que todo lo que ligareis en la tierra, será ligado en el cielo; y todo lo que desatareis en la tierra, será desatado en el cielo.
19Otra vez os digo, que si dos de vosotros se convinieren en la tierra, de toda cosa que pidieren, les será hecho por mi Padre que está en los cielos.
20Porque donde están dos ó tres congregados en mi nombre, allí estoy en medio de ellos.
21Entonces Pedro, llegándose á él, dijo: Señor, ¿cuántas veces perdonaré á mi hermano que pecare contra mí? ¿hasta siete?
22Jesús le dice: No te digo hasta siete, mas aun hasta setenta veces siete.
23Por lo cual, el reino de los cielos es semejante á un hombre rey, que quiso hacer cuentas con sus siervos.
24Y comenzando á hacer cuentas, le fué presentado uno que le debía diez mil talentos.
25Mas á éste, no pudiendo pagar, mandó su señor venderle, y á su mujer é hijos, con todo lo que tenía, y que se le pagase.
26Entonces aquel siervo, postrado, le adoraba, diciendo: Señor, ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.
27El señor, movido á misericordia de aquel siervo, le soltó y le perdonó la deuda.
28Y saliendo aquel siervo, halló á uno de sus consiervos, que le debía cien denarios; y trabando de él, le ahogaba, diciendo: Págame lo que debes.
29Entonces su consiervo, postrándose á sus pies, le rogaba, diciendo: Ten paciencia conmigo, y yo te lo pagaré todo.
30Mas él no quiso; sino fué, y le echó en la cárcel hasta que pagase la deuda.
31Y viendo sus consiervos lo que pasaba, se entristecieron mucho, y viniendo, declararon á su señor todo lo que había pasado.
32Entonces llamándole su señor, le dice: Siervo malvado, toda aquella deuda te perdoné, porque me rogaste:
33¿No te convenía también á ti tener misericordia de tu consiervo, como también yo tuve misericordia de ti?
34Entonces su señor, enojado, le entregó á los verdugos, hasta que pagase todo lo que le debía.
35Así también hará con vosotros mi Padre celestial, si no perdonareis de vuestros corazones cada uno á su hermano sus ofensas.

1At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
8Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
9And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
10Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
21Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
World English Bible
1In that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”
2Jesus called a little child to himself, and set him in the middle of them
3and said, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
4Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
5Whoever receives one such little child in my name receives me,
6but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.
7“Woe to the world because of occasions of stumbling! For it must be that the occasions come, but woe to that person through whom the occasion comes!
8If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life maimed or crippled, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.
9If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire.
10See that you don’t despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.
11For the Son of Man came to save that which was lost.
12“What do you think? If a man has one hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine, go to the mountains, and seek that which has gone astray?
13If he finds it, most certainly I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.
14Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
15“If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother.

17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector.
18Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven.
19Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”

22Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.
23Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24When he had begun to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
25But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26The servant therefore fell down and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’
27The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him and forgave him the debt.
28“But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’
29“So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’
30He would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay back that which was due.
31So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told their lord all that was done.
32Then his lord called him in and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
33Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’
34His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
35So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds.”
