1Nachdem er alle seine Reden vor dem aufmerksamen Volk beendet hatte, ging er nach Kapharnaum hinein.
2Der Knecht eines Hauptmanns lag auf den Tod krank darnieder, er war ihm lieb und teuer.
3Als der Hauptmann von Jesus hörte, ließ er ihn durch angesehene Juden bitten, er möge kommen, um seinen Knecht zu heilen.
4Sie kamen zu Jesus und baten ihn inständig. Sie sagten: "Er verdient es, daß du ihm dies gewährst;
5er liebt unser Volk und hat uns die Synagoge gebaut."
6Jesus ging mit ihnen. Als er nicht mehr weit vom Haus entfernt war, ließ ihm der Haupt-mann durch Freunde sagen: "Herr, bemühe dich nicht; ich bin nicht würdig, daß du unter meinem Dach Einkehr hältst.
7Deshalb hielt ich mich selbst auch nicht für wert, zu dir zu kommen. Sprich ein Wort, so wird mein Knecht gesund.
8Ich bin zwar nur Untergebener, habe aber doch Soldaten unter mir. Wenn ich zu dem da sage: 'Geh!', dann geht er, und zu einem anderen: 'Komm!', dann kommt er, und zu meinem Knechte: 'Tu dies!', dann tut er es."
9Als Jesus dies hörte, mußte er sich über ihn verwundern. Er wandte sich zum Volk, das ihn begleitete, und sprach: "Ich sage euch: Solch einen Glauben habe ich nicht einmal in Israel gefunden."
10Die Boten kehrten in das Haus zurück und fanden den Knecht gesund.
11Er ging weiter und kam in eine Stadt mit Namen Naim. In großer Zahl begleiteten ihn seine Jünger und viel Volk.
12Als er in die Nähe des Stadttors kam, trug man eben einen Toten heraus, den einzigen Sohn seiner Mutter, diese war Witwe. Mit ihr ging eine große Menge aus der Stadt.
13Als der Herr sie sah, empfand er Mitleid über sie und sprach zu ihr: "Weine nicht!"
14Dann trat er hin und rührte die Bahre an. Die Träger standen still. Er sprach: "Jüngling, ich sage dir, steh auf!"
15Da setzte sich der Tote auf und begann zu sprechen. Und Jesus gab ihn seiner Mutter.
16Furcht ergriff alle; sie priesen Gott und sprachen:., Ein mächtiger Prophet ist bei uns aufgestanden" und: "Gott hat sein Volk heimgesucht".
17Die Kunde von dieser seiner Tat verbreitete sich im ganzen Judenland und in den Grenzgebieten.
18All dies berichteten seine Jünger dem Johannes. Da rief Johannes zwei seiner Jünger zu sich,
19sandte sie zum Herrn und ließ ihn fragen: "Bist du es, der da kommen soll, oder sollen wir auf einen anderen warten?"
20Die Männer trafen bei ihm ein und sagten: "Johannes der Täufer schickt uns zu dir und läßt dich fragen: 'Bist du es, der da kommen soll, oder sollen wir auf einen anderen warten?'"
21In jener Stunde heilte er gerade viele von Krankheiten, Gebrechen und von bösen Geistern und schenkte vielen Blinden das Augenlicht.
22So gab er ihnen zur Antwort: "Geht hin und meldet dem Johannes, was ihr gesehen und gehört habt: Blinde sehen, Lahme gehen, Aussätzige werden rein, Taube hören, Tote stehen auf, Armen wird die Heilsbotschaft verkündet,
23und selig ist, wer sich an mir nicht ärgert."
24Als die Boten des Johannes wieder fortgegangen waren, sprach er zu den Scharen von Johannes: "Was wolltet ihr denn sehen, als ihr in die Steppe ginget? Etwa ein Schilfrohr, vom Winde hin und her bewegt?
25Was wolltet ihr doch sehen? Wohl einen Menschen, angetan mit weichlichen Gewändern? O, die weichlich gekleidet sind und üppig leben, wohnen in den Königsburgen.
26Was wolltet ihr also sehen? Etwa einen Propheten? Wahrlich, ich sage euch, mehr sogar als einen Propheten.
27Dieser ist es, von dem geschrieben steht: 'Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, daß er den Weg vor dir bereite.'
28Ich sage euch: Von denen, die vom Weib geboren sind, gibt es keinen Größeren als Johannes. Der Kleinste im Gottesreich ist aber größer als er.
29Und alles Volk, das ihn hörte, ja, selbst die Zöllner gaben Gott recht und empfingen die Taufe des Johannes.
30Die Pharisäer und Gesetzeslehrer aber achteten den für sie bestimmten Ratschluß Gottes nicht und ließen sich von ihm nicht taufen.
31Wem soll ich die Menschen dieses Geschlechtes vergleichen? Wem sind sie gleich?
32Sie gleichen Kindern, die auf dem Marktplatz sitzen und einander zurufen: 'Wir haben euch auf der Flöte vorgespielt, ihr aber habt nicht getanzt; wir haben Klagelieder gesungen, und ihr habt nicht geweint.'
33Johannes der Täufer kam, aß kein Brot und trank keinen Wein, da sagtet ihr: 'Er ist besessen.'
34Es kam der Menschensohn, er ißt und trinkt; ihr aber sagt: 'Seht den Schlemmer und den Säufer, den Freund der Zöllner und der Sünder.'
35Indes die Weisheit ward von allen ihren Kindern doch als gerecht anerkannt."
36Ein Pharisäer bat ihn einst zu Tisch. Er ging ins Haus des Pharisäers und setzte sich zu Tisch.
37In jener Stadt lebte nun ein sündiges Weib. Als sie erfuhr, daß er zu Tisch im Hause des Pharisäers sei, brachte sie ein Gefäß aus Alabaster voll Salböl mit,
38ließ sich hinter ihm zu seinen Füßen nieder und weinte. Dann fing sie an, mit ihren Tränen seine Füße zu benetzen, trocknete sie mit den Haaren ihres Hauptes ab, küßte seine Füße und salbte sie mit dem Salböl.
39Als dies der Pharisäer, der ihn geladen hatte, sah, sprach er bei sich: "Wenn dieser ein Prophet wäre, so wüßte er, wer und was für ein Weib dies ist, die ihn berührt, daß sie eine Sünderin ist."
40Da wandte Jesus sich zu ihm und sprach: "Simon, ich muß dir etwas sagen."
41Er entgegnete: "Sag es, Meister." Er sprach: "Ein Gläubiger hatte zwei Schuldner, der eine war ihm fünfhundert Denare schuldig, der andere fünfzig.
42Da sie nicht bezahlen konnten, schenkte er den beiden ihre Schuld. Sag: Welcher von ihnen wird ihn nun am meisten lieben?"
43Simon gab zur Antwort: "Ich denke, der, dem er das meiste geschenkt hat." "Du hast recht geurteilt", sprach er zu ihm.
44Und zu dem Weib gewendet, sprach er weiterhin zu Simon: "Siehst du dieses Weib? Ich kam in dein Haus, und du gabst mir kein Wasser für die Füße; sie aber hat mit ihren Tränen meine Füße benetzt und sie mit ihren Haaren abgetrocknet.
45Du gabst mir keinen Kuß; sie aber hat seit meinem Eintritt nicht aufgehört, mir die Füße zu küssen.
46Du salbtest mein Haupt nicht mit Öl; sie aber hat mir die Füße mit Salböl gesalbt.
47Deshalb, sage ich dir, sind ihr viele Sünden nachgelassen, weil sie große Liebe hat. Wem aber wenig nachgelassen wird, der liebt auch wenig."
48Hierauf sprach er zu ihr: "Deine Sünden sind dir nachgelassen."
49Da dachten die Tischgenossen bei sich: "Wer ist doch der, daß er sogar Sünden nachläßt?"
50Er aber sprach zum Weibe: "Dein Glaube hat dich gerettet; geh hin in Frieden!"

1Y COMO acabó todas sus palabras oyéndole el pueblo, entró en Capernaum.
2Y el siervo de un centurión, al cual tenía él en estima, estaba enfermo y á punto de morir.
3Y como oyó hablar de Jesús, envió á él los ancianos de los Judíos, rogándole que viniese y librase á su siervo.
4Y viniendo ellos á Jesús, rogáronle con diligencia, diciéndole: Porque es digno de concederle esto;
5Que ama nuestra nación, y él nos edificó una sinagoga.
6Y Jesús fué con ellos. Mas como ya no estuviesen lejos de su casa, envió el centurión amigos á él, diciéndole: Señor, no te incomodes, que no soy digno que entres debajo de mi tejado;
7Por lo cual ni aun me tuve por digno de venir á ti; mas di la palabra, y mi siervo será sano.
8Porque también yo soy hombre puesto en potestad, que tengo debajo de mí soldados; y digo á éste: Ve, y va; y al otro: Ven, y viene; y á mi siervo: Haz esto, y lo hace.
9Lo cual oyendo Jesús, se maravilló de él, y vuelto, dijo á las gentes que le seguían: Os digo que ni aun en Israel he hallado tanta fe.
10Y vueltos á casa los que habían sido enviados, hallaron sano al siervo que había estado enfermo.
11Y aconteció después, que él iba á la ciudad que se llama Naín, é iban con él muchos de sus discípulos, y gran compañía.
12Y como llegó cerca de la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí que sacaban fuera á un difunto, unigénito de su madre, la cual también era viuda: y había con ella grande compañía de la ciudad.
13Y como el Señor la vió, compadecióse de ella, y le dice: No llores.
14Y acercándose, tocó el féretro: y los que lo llevaban, pararon. Y dice: Mancebo, á ti digo, levántate.
15Entonces se incorporó el que había muerto, y comenzó á hablar. Y dióle á su madre.
16Y todos tuvieron miedo, y glorificaban á Dios, diciendo: Que un gran profeta se ha levantado entre nosotros; y que Dios ha visitado á su pueblo.
17Y salió esta fama de él por toda Judea, y por toda la tierra de alrededor.
18Y sus discípulos dieron á Juan las nuevas de todas estas cosas: y llamó Juan á dos de sus discípulos,
19Y envió á Jesús, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?
20Y como los hombres vinieron á él, dijeron: Juan el Bautista nos ha enviado á ti, diciendo: ¿Eres tú aquél que había de venir, ó esperaremos á otro?
21Y en la misma hora sanó á muchos de enfermedades y plagas, y de espíritus malos; y á muchos ciegos dió la vista.
22Y respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, dad las nuevas á Juan de lo que habéis visto y oído: que los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados, los sordos oyen, los muertos resucitan, á los pobres es anunciado el evangelio:
23Y bienaventurado es el que no fuere escandalizado en mí.
24Y como se fueron los mensajeros de Juan, comenzó á hablar de Juan á las gentes: ¿Qué salisteis á ver al desierto? ¿una caña que es agitada por el viento?
25Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un hombre cubierto de vestidos delicados? He aquí, los que están en vestido precioso, y viven en delicias, en los palacios de los reyes están.
26Mas ¿qué salisteis á ver? ¿un profeta? También os digo, y aun más que profeta.
27Este es de quien está escrito: He aquí, envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz, el cual aparejará tu camino delante de ti.
28Porque os digo que entre los nacidos de mujeres, no hay mayor profeta que Juan el Bautista: mas el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos es mayor que él.
29Y todo el pueblo oyéndole, y los publicanos, justificaron á Dios, bautizándose con el bautismo de Juan.
30Mas los Fariseos y los sabios de la ley, desecharon el consejo de Dios contra sí mismos, no siendo bautizados de él.
31Y dice el Señor: ¿A quién, pues, compararé los hombres de esta generación, y á qué son semejantes?
32Semejantes son á los muchachos sentados en la plaza, y que dan voces los unos á los otros, y dicen: Os tañimos con flautas, y no bailasteis: os endechamos, y no llorasteis.
33Porque vino Juan el Bautista, que ni comía pan, ni bebía vino, y decís: Demonio tiene.
34Vino el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y decís: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores.
35Mas la sabiduría es justificada de todos sus hijos.
36Y le rogó uno de los Fariseos, que comiese con él. Y entrado en casa del Fariseo, sentóse á la mesa.
37Y he aquí una mujer que había sido pecadora en la ciudad, como entendió que estaba á la mesa en casa de aquel Fariseo, trajo un alabastro de ungüento,
38Y estando detrás á sus pies, comenzó llorando á regar con lágrimas sus pies, y los limpiaba con los cabellos de su cabeza; y besaba sus pies, y los ungía con el ungüento.
39Y como vió esto el Fariseo que le había convidado, habló entre sí, diciendo: Este, si fuera profeta, conocería quién y cuál es la mujer que le toca, que es pecadora.
40Entonces respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: Simón, una cosa tengo que decirte. Y él dice: Di, Maestro.
41Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, y el otro cincuenta;
42Y no teniendo ellos de qué pagar, perdonó á ambos. Di, pues, ¿cuál de éstos le amará más?
43Y respondiendo Simón, dijo: Pienso que aquél al cual perdonó más. Y él le dijo: Rectamente has juzgado.
44Y vuelto á la mujer, dijo á Simón: ¿Ves esta mujer? Entré en tu casa, no diste agua para mis pies; mas ésta ha regado mis pies con lágrimas, y los ha limpiado con los cabellos.
45No me diste beso, mas ésta, desde que entré, no ha cesado de besar mis pies.
46No ungiste mi cabeza con óleo; mas ésta ha ungido con ungüento mis pies.
47Por lo cual te digo que sus muchos pecados son perdonados, porque amó mucho; mas al que se perdona poco, poco ama.
48Y á ella dijo: Los pecados te son perdonados.
49Y los que estaban juntamente sentados á la mesa, comenzaron á decir entre sí: ¿Quién es éste, que también perdona pecados?
50Y dijo á la mujer: Tu fe te ha salvado, ve en paz.

1Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
9When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
11And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
13And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
16And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judæa, and throughout all the region round about.
18And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.
19And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
20When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
23And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
24And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
25But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.
26But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
27This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
28For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
29And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
30But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
31And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?
32They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.
33For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
35But wisdom is justified of all her children.
36And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.
37And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

1After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
3When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.
4When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,
5for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”
6Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.
7Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”
10Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.
11Soon afterwards, he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.
12Now when he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only born son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.
13When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Don’t cry.”
14He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”
15He who was dead sat up and began to speak. Then he gave him to his mother.
16Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”
17This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.
18The disciples of John told him about all these things.
19John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”
20When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”
21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.
22Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”
24When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed and live delicately are in kings’ courts.
26But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
27This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
28“For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in God’s Kingdom is greater than he.”
29When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John’s baptism.
30But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.
31“To what then should I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?
32They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, saying, ‘We piped to you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned, and you didn’t weep.’

34The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

36One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house and sat at the table.
37Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”
40Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Teacher, say on.”
41“A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?”
43Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.”
44Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
47Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.”
48He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
