Ma tali parole parvero ad essi, come delirj: e non diedero loro retta.

Mas á ellos les parecían como locura las palabras de ellas, y no las creyeron.

And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them.
