1Und die ganze Versammlung stand auf, und sie führten ihn vor Pilatus.
2Sie fingen aber an, ihn zu verklagen und sprachen: Wir haben gefunden, daß dieser das Volk verführt und ihm wehrt, dem Kaiser die Steuern zu zahlen, und behauptet, er sei Christus, der König.
3Da fragte ihn Pilatus und sprach: Du bist der König der Juden? Er antwortete ihm und sprach: Du sagst es!
4Da sprach Pilatus zu den Hohenpriestern und dem Volk: Ich finde keine Schuld an diesem Menschen!
5Sie aber bestanden darauf und sprachen: Er wiegelt das Volk auf, indem er lehrt in ganz Judäa, was er zuerst in Galiläa tat und fortsetzte bis hierher!
6Als Pilatus das hörte, fragte er, ob der Mensch ein Galiläer sei.
7Und da er vernahm, daß er aus dem Gebiet des Herodes sei, sandte er ihn hin zu Herodes, der in diesen Tagen ebenfalls zu Jerusalem war.
8Herodes aber freute sich sehr, als er Jesus sah; denn er hätte ihn schon längst gern gesehen, weil er viel von ihm gehört hatte, und er hoffte, ein Zeichen von ihm zu sehen.
9Er legte ihm denn auch viele Fragen vor; aber Jesus gab ihm keine Antwort.
10Die Hohenpriester aber und die Schriftgelehrten standen da und verklagten ihn heftig.
11Und Herodes samt seinen Kriegsleuten verachtete und verspottete ihn, zog ihm ein weißes Kleid an und schickte ihn wieder zu Pilatus.
12An demselben Tage schlossen Pilatus und Herodes Freundschaft miteinander, denn zuvor waren sie einander feind gewesen.
13Pilatus aber rief die Hohenpriester und die Obersten und das Volk zusammen
14und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt diesen Menschen zu mir gebracht, als mache er das Volk abtrünnig; und siehe, als ich ihn vor euch verhörte, habe ich an diesem Menschen keine Schuld gefunden, deren ihr ihn anklagt,
15aber auch Herodes nicht; denn er hat ihn zu uns zurückgeschickt, und siehe, es ist nichts von ihm verübt worden, was des Todes würdig wäre.
16Darum will ich ihn züchtigen und dann freilassen.
17Er mußte ihnen aber auf das Fest einen freigeben.
18Da schrie aber der ganze Haufe und sprach: Hinweg mit diesem und gib uns Barabbas frei!
19Der war wegen eines in der Stadt vorgefallenen Aufruhrs und Mordes ins Gefängnis geworfen worden.
20Da redete ihnen Pilatus noch einmal zu, weil er Jesus freizulassen wünschte.
21Sie aber riefen dagegen und sprachen: Kreuzige, kreuzige ihn!
22Und zum drittenmal sprach er zu ihnen: Was hat dieser denn Böses getan? Ich habe keine des Todes würdige Schuld an ihm gefunden. Darum will ich ihn züchtigen und dann freilassen.
23Sie aber hielten an mit lautem Geschrei und forderten, daß er gekreuzigt werde; und ihr und der Hohenpriester Geschrei nahm überhand.
24Da entschied Pilatus, daß ihre Forderung erfüllt werde,
25und gab ihnen den frei, welcher eines Aufruhrs und Mordes wegen ins Gefängnis geworfen worden war, den sie begehrten; Jesus aber übergab er ihrem Willen.
26Und als sie ihn hinführten, ergriffen sie einen gewissen Simon von Kyrene, der vom Felde kam, und legten ihm das Kreuz auf, damit er es Jesus nachtrage.
27Es folgte ihm aber eine große Volksmenge, auch Frauen, die ihn beklagten und betrauerten.
28Da wandte sich Jesus zu ihnen und sprach: Ihr Töchter Jerusalems, weinet nicht über mich; weinet vielmehr über euch selbst und über eure Kinder!
29Denn siehe, es kommen Tage, da man sagen wird: Selig sind die Unfruchtbaren und die Leiber, die nicht geboren, und die Brüste, die nicht gesäugt haben!
30Dann wird man anfangen, zu den Bergen zu sagen: Fallet über uns! und zu den Hügeln: Bedecket uns!
31Denn wenn man das am grünen Holze tut, was wird am dürren geschehen?
32Es wurden aber auch zwei andere hingeführt, Übeltäter, um mit ihm hingerichtet zu werden.
33Und als sie an den Ort kamen, den man Schädelstätte nennt, kreuzigten sie daselbst ihn und die Übeltäter, den einen zur Rechten, den andern zur Linken.
34Jesus aber sprach: Vater, vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun! Sie teilten aber seine Kleider und warfen das Los.
35Und das Volk stand da und sah zu. Es spotteten aber auch die Obersten und sprachen: Andere hat er gerettet; er rette nun sich selbst, wenn er Christus ist, der Auserwählte Gottes!
36Es verspotteten ihn aber auch die Kriegsknechte, indem sie herzutraten, ihm Essig brachten
37und sprachen: Bist du der König der Juden, so rette dich selbst!
38Es stand aber auch eine Inschrift über ihm in griechischer, lateinischer und hebräischer Schrift: Dieser ist der König der Juden.
39Einer aber der gehängten Übeltäter lästerte ihn und sprach: Bist du der Christus, so rette dich selbst und uns!
40Der andere aber antwortete, tadelte ihn und sprach: Fürchtest auch du Gott nicht, da du doch in gleichem Gerichte bist?
41Und wir zwar gerechterweise, denn wir empfangen, was unsere Taten wert sind; dieser aber hat nichts Unrechtes getan!
42Und er sprach zu Jesus: Herr, gedenke meiner, wenn du zu deiner Königswürde kommst!
43Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir, heute wirst du mit mir im Paradiese sein!
44Es war aber um die sechste Stunde, und eine Finsternis kam über das ganze Land bis zur neunten Stunde.
45Und die Sonne wurde verfinstert, und der Vorhang im Tempel riß mitten entzwei.
46Und Jesus rief mit lauter Stimme und sprach: Vater, in deine Hände befehle ich meinen Geist! Und als er das gesagt hatte, verschied er.
47Als aber der Hauptmann sah, was geschah, pries er Gott und sprach: Wahrlich, dieser Mensch war gerecht!
48Und die ganze Volksmenge, die herbeigekommen war zu diesem Schauspiel, als sie sah, was geschah, schlug sich an die Brust und kehrte um.
49Es standen aber alle seine Bekannten von ferne und die Frauen, die ihm von Galiläa her nachgefolgt waren, und sahen dies.
50Und siehe, ein Mann namens Joseph, der ein Ratsherr war, ein guter und gerechter Mann
51(der ihrem Rat und Tun nicht beigestimmt hatte) von Arimathia, einer Stadt der Juden, der auf das Reich Gottes wartete,
52dieser ging zu Pilatus und bat um den Leib Jesu
53und nahm ihn herab, wickelte ihn in Leinwand und legte ihn in eine ausgehauene Gruft, worin noch niemand gelegen hatte.
54Und es war Rüsttag, und der Sabbat brach an.
55Die Frauen aber, die mit ihm aus Galiläa gekommen waren, gaben ihm das Geleite und sahen sich die Gruft an und wie sein Leib hineingelegt wurde.
56Dann kehrten sie zurück und bereiteten Spezereien und Salben; am Sabbat aber ruhten sie nach dem Gesetz.

1LEVANTÁNDOSE entonces toda la multitud de ellos, lleváronle á Pilato.
2Y comenzaron á acusarle, diciendo: A éste hemos hallado que pervierte la nación, y que veda dar tributo á César, diciendo que él es el Cristo, el rey.
3Entonces Pilato le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos? Y respondiéndole él, dijo: Tú lo dices.
4Y Pilato dijo á los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y á las gentes: Ninguna culpa hallo en este hombre.
5Mas ellos porfiaban, diciendo: Alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.
6Entonces Pilato, oyendo de Galilea, preguntó si el hombre era Galileo.
7Y como entendió que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, le remitió á Herodes, el cual también estaba en Jerusalem en aquellos días.
8Y Herodes, viendo á Jesús, holgóse mucho, porque hacía mucho que deseaba verle; porque había oído de él muchas cosas, y tenía esperanza que le vería hacer alguna señal.
9Y le preguntaba con muchas palabras; mas él nada le respondió:
10Y estaban los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas acusándole con gran porfía.
11Mas Herodes con su corte le menospreció, y escarneció, vistiéndole de una ropa rica; y volvióle á enviar á Pilato.
12Y fueron hechos amigos entre sí Pilato y Herodes en el mismo día; porque antes eran enemigos entre sí.
13Entonces Pilato, convocando los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los magistrados, y el pueblo,
14Les dijo: Me habéis presentado á éste por hombre que desvía al pueblo: y he aquí, preguntando yo delante de vosotros, no he hallado culpa alguna en este hombre de aquéllas de que le acusáis.
15Y ni aun Herodes; porque os remití á él, y he aquí, ninguna cosa digna de muerte ha hecho.
16Le soltaré, pues, castigado.
17Y tenía necesidad de soltarles uno en cada fiesta.
18Mas toda la multitud dió voces á una, diciendo: Quita á éste, y suéltanos á Barrabás:
19(El cual había sido echado en la cárcel por una sedición hecha en la ciudad, y una muerte.)
20Y hablóles otra vez Pilato, queriendo soltar á Jesús.
21Pero ellos volvieron á dar voces, diciendo: Crucifícale, crucifícale.
22Y él les dijo la tercera vez: ¿Pues qué mal ha hecho éste? Ninguna culpa de muerte he hallado en él: le castigaré, pues, y le soltaré.
23Mas ellos instaban á grandes voces, pidiendo que fuese crucificado. Y las voces de ellos y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes crecían.
24Entonces Pilato juzgó que se hiciese lo que ellos pedían;
25Y les soltó á aquél que había sido echado en la cárcel por sedición y una muerte, al cual habían pedido; y entregó á Jesús á la voluntad de ellos.
26Y llevándole, tomaron á un Simón Cireneo, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús.
27Y le seguía una grande multitud de pueblo, y de mujeres, las cuales le lloraban y lamentaban.
28Mas Jesús, vuelto á ellas, les dice: Hijas de Jerusalem, no me lloréis á mí, mas llorad por vosotras mismas, y por vuestros hijos.
29Porque he aquí vendrán días en que dirán: Bienaventuradas las estériles, y los vientres que no engendraron, y los pechos que no criaron.
30Entonces comenzarán á decir á los montes: Caed sobre nosotros: y á los collados: Cubridnos.
31Porque si en el árbol verde hacen estas cosas, ¿en el seco, qué se hará?
32Y llevaban también con él otros dos, malhechores, á ser muertos.
33Y como vinieron al lugar que se llama de la Calavera, le crucificaron allí, y á los malhechores, uno á la derecha, y otro á la izquierda.
34Y Jesús decía: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen. Y partiendo sus vestidos, echaron suertes.
35Y el pueblo estaba mirando; y se burlaban de él los príncipes con ellos, diciendo: A otros hizo salvos: sálvese á sí, si éste es el Mesías, el escogido de Dios.
36Escarnecían de él también los soldados, llegándose y presentándole vinagre,
37Y diciendo: Si tú eres el Rey de los Judíos, sálvate á ti mismo.
38Y había también sobre él un título escrito con letras griegas, y latinas, y hebraicas: ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.
39Y uno de los malhechores que estaban colgados, le injuriaba, diciendo: Si tú eres el Cristo, sálvate á ti mismo y á nosotros.
40Y respondiendo el otro, reprendióle, diciendo: ¿Ni aun tú temes á Dios, estando en la misma condenación?
41Y nosotros, á la verdad, justamente padecemos; porque recibimos lo que merecieron nuestros hechos: mas éste ningún mal hizo.
42Y dijo á Jesús: Acuérdate de mí cuando vinieres á tu reino.
43Entonces Jesús le dijo: De cierto te digo, que hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.
44Y cuando era como la hora de sexta, fueron hechas tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora de nona.
45Y el sol se obscureció: y el velo del templo se rompió por medio.
46Entonces Jesús, clamando á gran voz, dijo: Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu. Y habiendo dicho esto, espiró.
47Y como el centurión vió lo que había acontecido, dió gloria á Dios, diciendo: Verdaderamente este hombre era justo.
48Y toda la multitud de los que estaban presentes á este espectáculo, viendo lo que había acontecido, se volvían hiriendo sus pechos.
49Mas todos sus conocidos, y las mujeres que le habían seguido desde Galilea, estaban lejos mirando estas cosas.
50Y he aquí un varón llamado José, el cual era senador, varón bueno y justo,
51(El cual no había consentido en el consejo ni en los hechos de ellos), de Arimatea, ciudad de la Judea, el cual también esperaba el reino de Dios;
52Este llegó á Pilato, y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.
53Y quitado, lo envolvió en una sábana, y le puso en un sepulcro abierto en una peña, en el cual ninguno había aún sido puesto.
54Y era día de la víspera de la Pascua; y estaba para rayar el sábado.
55Y las mujeres que con él habían venido de Galilea, siguieron también y vieron el sepulcro, y cómo fué puesto su cuerpo.
56Y vueltas, aparejaron drogas aromáticas y ungüentos; y reposaron el sábado, conforme al mandamiento.

1And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
2And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cæsar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
3And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
4Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
5And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilæan.
7And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
8And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
9Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
10And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
11And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
12And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.
13And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.
22And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
23And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.
24And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
26And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathæa, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

1The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.
2They began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”
3Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered him, “So you say.”
4Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”
5But they insisted, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.”
6But when Pilate heard Galilee mentioned, he asked if the man was a Galilean.
7When he found out that he was in Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem during those days.
8Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.
9He questioned him with many words, but he gave no answers.
10The chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him.
11Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.
12Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.
13Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,
14and said to them, “You brought this man to me as one that perverts the people, and behold, having examined him before you, I found no basis for a charge against this man concerning those things of which you accuse him.
15Neither has Herod, for I sent you to him, and see, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.
16I will therefore chastise him and release him.”
17Now he had to release one prisoner to them at the feast.
18But they all cried out together, saying, “Away with this man! Release to us Barabbas!”—
19one who was thrown into prison for a certain revolt in the city, and for murder.
20Then Pilate spoke to them again, wanting to release Jesus,
21but they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify him!”
22He said to them the third time, “Why? What evil has this man done? I have found no capital crime in him. I will therefore chastise him and release him.”
23But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. Their voices and the voices of the chief priests prevailed.
24Pilate decreed that what they asked for should be done.
25He released him who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, but he delivered Jesus up to their will.
26When they led him away, they grabbed one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, and laid the cross on him to carry it after Jesus.
27A great multitude of the people followed him, including women who also mourned and lamented him.
28But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don’t weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
29For behold, the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.’
30Then they will begin to tell the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and tell the hills, ‘Cover us.’
31For if they do these things in the green tree, what will be done in the dry?”
32There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death.
33When they came to the place that is called “The Skull”, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
34Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.
35The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”
36The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,
37and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”
38An inscription was also written over him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
39One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”
40But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
41And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.”
42He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”
43Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.
45The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.
46Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.
47When the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous man.”
48All the multitudes that came together to see this, when they saw the things that were done, returned home beating their chests.
49All his acquaintances and the women who followed with him from Galilee stood at a distance, watching these things.
50Behold, there was a man named Joseph, who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man
51(he had not consented to their counsel and deed), from Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, who was also waiting for God’s Kingdom.
52This man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus’ body.
53He took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was cut in stone, where no one had ever been laid.
54It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.
55The women who had come with him out of Galilee followed after, and saw the tomb and how his body was laid.
56They returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.
