1Now when Iesus entred and passed through Iericho,
2Beholde, there was a man named Zaccheus, which was the chiefe receiuer of the tribute, and he was riche.
3And he sought to see Iesus, who hee should be, and coulde not for the preasse, because he was of a lowe stature.
4Wherefore he ranne before, and climed vp into a wilde figge tree, that he might see him: for he should come that way.
5And when Iesus came to the place, he looked vp, and saw him, and said vnto him, Zaccheus, come downe at once: for to day I must abide at thine house.
6Then he came downe hastily, and receiued him ioyfully.
7And when all they sawe it, they murmured, saying, that hee was gone in to lodge with a sinfull man.
8And Zaccheus stood forth, and said vnto the Lord, Beholde, Lord, the halfe of my goods I giue to the poore: and if I haue taken from any man by forged cauillation, I restore him foure folde.
9Then Iesus said to him, This day is saluation come vnto this house, forasmuch as hee is also become the sonne of Abraham.
10For the Sonne of man is come to seeke, and to saue that which was lost.
11And whiles they heard these thinges, hee continued and spake a parable, because hee was neere to Hierusalem, and because also they thought that the kingdom of God should shortly appeare.
12He saide therefore, A certaine noble man went into a farre countrey, to receiue for himselfe a kingdome, and so to come againe.
13And he called his ten seruants, and deliuered them ten pieces of money, and sayd vnto them, Occupie till I come.
14Nowe his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassage after him, saying, We will not haue this man to reigne ouer vs.
15And it came to passe, when hee was come againe, and had receiued his kingdome, that he commanded the seruants to be called to him, to whome he gaue his money, that he might knowe what euery man had gained.
16Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy piece hath encreased ten pieces.
17And he sayd vnto him, Well, good seruant: because thou hast bene faithfull in a very litle thing, take thou authoritie ouer ten cities.
18And the second came, saying, Lord, thy piece hath encreased fiue pieces.
19And to the same he sayd, Be thou also ruler ouer fiue cities.
20So the other came, and sayd, Lord, beholde thy piece, which I haue laide vp in a napkin:
21For I feared thee, because thou art a straight man: thou takest vp, that thou layedst not downe, and reapest that thou diddest not sowe.
22Then he sayde vnto him, Of thine owne mouth will I iudge thee, O euill seruant. Thou knewest that I am a straight man, taking vp that I layd not downe, and reaping that I did not sowe.
23Wherefore then gauest not thou my money into the banke, that at my coming I might haue required it with vantage?
24And he sayd to them that stoode by, Take from him that piece, and giue it him that hath ten pieces.
25(And they sayd vnto him, Lord, hee hath ten pieces.)
26For I say vnto you, that vnto all them that haue, it shalbe giuen: and from him that hath not, euen that he hath, shalbe taken from him.
27Moreouer, those mine enemies, which would not that I should reigne ouer them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
28And when he had thus spoken, he went forth before, ascending vp to Hierusalem.
29And it came to passe, when hee was come neere to Bethphage, and Bethania, besides the mount which is called the mount of Oliues, he sent two of his disciples,
30Saying, Goe ye to the towne which is before you, wherein, assoone as ye are come, ye shall finde a colte tied, whereon neuer man sate: loose him, and bring him hither.
31And if any man aske you, why ye loose him, thus shall ye say vnto him, Because the Lord hath neede of him.
32So they that were sent, went their way, and found it as he had sayd vnto them.
33And as they were loosing the colte, the owners thereof sayd vnto them, Why loose ye the colte?
34And they sayd, The Lord hath neede of him.
35So they brought him to Iesus, and they cast their garments on the colte, and set Iesus thereon.
36And as he went, they spred their clothes in the way.
37And when he was nowe come neere to the going downe of the mount of Oliues, the whole multitude of the disciples began to reioyce, and to prayse God with a loude voyce, for all the great workes that they had seene,
38Saying, Blessed be the King that commeth in the Name of the Lord: peace in heauen, and glory in the highest places.
39Then some of the Pharises of the companie sayd vnto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40But he answered, and sayd vnto them, I tell you, that if these should holde their peace, the stones would crie.
41And when he was come neere, he behelde the Citie, and wept for it,
42Saying, O if thou haddest euen knowen at the least in this thy day those things, which belong vnto thy peace! but nowe are they hid from thine eyes.
43For the dayes shall come vpon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compasse thee round, and keepe thee in on euery side,
44And shall make thee euen with ye ground, and thy children which are in thee, and they shall not leaue in thee a stone vpon a stone, because thou knewest not that season of thy visitation.
45He went also into the Temple, and began to cast out them that solde therein, and them that bought,
46Saying vnto them, It is written, Mine house is the house of prayer, but ye haue made it a denne of theeues.
47And he taught dayly in the Temple. And the hie Priests and the Scribes, and the chiefe of the people sought to destroy him.
48But they could not finde what they might doe to him: for all the people hanged vpon him when they heard him.

1Y HABIENDO entrado Jesús, iba pasando por Jericó;
2Y he aquí un varón llamado Zaqueo, el cual era el principal de los publicanos, y era rico;
3Y procuraba ver á Jesús quién fuese; mas no podía á causa de la multitud, porque era pequeño de estatura.
4Y corriendo delante, subióse á un árbol sicómoro para verle; porque había de pasar por allí.
5Y como vino á aquel lugar Jesús, mirando, le vió, y díjole: Zaqueo, date priesa, desciende, porque hoy es necesario que pose en tu casa.
6Entonces él descendió apriesa, y le recibió gozoso.
7Y viendo esto, todos murmuraban, diciendo que había entrado á posar con un hombre pecador.
8Entonces Zaqueo, puesto en pie, dijo al Señor: He aquí, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes doy á los pobres; y si en algo he defraudado á alguno, lo vuelvo con el cuatro tanto.
9Y Jesús le dijo: Hoy ha venido la salvación á esta casa; por cuanto él también es hijo de Abraham.
10Porque el Hijo del hombre vino á buscar y á salvar lo que se había perdido.
11Y oyendo ellos estas cosas, prosiguió Jesús y dijo una parábola, por cuanto estaba cerca de Jerusalem, y porque pensaban que luego había de ser manifestado el reino de Dios.
12Dijo pues: Un hombre noble partió á una provincia lejos, para tomar para sí un reino, y volver.
13Mas llamados diez siervos suyos, les dió diez minas, y díjoles: Negociad entre tanto que vengo.
14Empero sus ciudadanos le aborrecían, y enviaron tras de él una embajada, diciendo: No queremos que éste reine sobre nosotros.
15Y aconteció, que vuelto él, habiendo tomado el reino, mandó llamar á sí á aquellos siervos á los cuales había dado el dinero, para saber lo que había negociado cada uno.
16Y vino el primero, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha ganado diez minas.
17Y él le dice: Está bien, buen siervo; pues que en lo poco has sido fiel, tendrás potestad sobre diez ciudades.
18Y vino otro, diciendo: Señor, tu mina ha hecho cinco minas.
19Y también á éste dijo: Tú también sé sobre cinco ciudades.
20Y vino otro, diciendo: Señor, he aquí tu mina, la cual he tenido guardada en un pañizuelo:
21Porque tuve miedo de ti, que eres hombre recio; tomas lo que no pusiste, y siegas lo que no sembraste.
22Entonces él le dijo: Mal siervo, de tu boca te juzgo. Sabías que yo era hombre recio, que tomo lo que no puse, y que siego lo que no sembré;
23¿Por qué, pues, no diste mi dinero al banco, y yo viniendo lo demandara con el logro?
24Y dijo á los que estaban presentes: Quitadle la mina, y dadla al que tiene las diez minas.
25Y ellos le dijeron: Señor, tiene diez minas.
26Pues yo os digo que á cualquiera que tuviere, le será dado; mas al que no tuviere, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.
27Y también á aquellos mis enemigos que no querían que yo reinase sobre ellos, traedlos acá, y degolladlos delante de mí.
28Y dicho esto, iba delante subiendo á Jerusalem.
29Y aconteció, que llegando cerca de Bethfagé, y de Bethania, al monte que se llama de las Olivas, envió dos de sus discípulos,
30Diciendo: Id á la aldea de enfrente; en la cual como entrareis, hallaréis un pollino atado, en el que ningún hombre se ha sentado jamás; desatadlo, y traedlo.
31Y si alguien os preguntare, ¿por qué lo desatáis? le responderéis así: Porque el Señor lo ha menester.
32Y fueron los que habían sido enviados, y hallaron como les dijo.
33Y desatando ellos el pollino, sus dueños les dijeron: ¿Por qué desatáis el pollino?
34Y ellos dijeron: Porque el Señor lo ha menester.
35Y trajéronlo á Jesús; y habiendo echado sus vestidos sobre el pollino, pusieron á Jesús encima.
36Y yendo él tendían sus capas por el camino.
37Y como llegasen ya cerca de la bajada del monte de las Olivas, toda la multitud de los discípulos, gozándose, comenzaron á alabar á Dios á gran voz por todas las maravillas que habían visto,
38Diciendo: ¡Bendito el rey que viene en el nombre del Señor: paz en el cielo, y gloria en lo altísimo!
39Entonces algunos de los Fariseos de la compañía, le dijeron: Maestro, reprende á tus discípulos.
40Y él respondiendo, les dijo: Os digo que si éstos callaren, las piedras clamarán.
41Y como llegó cerca, viendo la ciudad, lloró sobre ella,
42Diciendo: ¡Oh si también tú conocieses, á lo menos en este tu día, lo que toca á tu paz! mas ahora está encubierto de tus ojos.
43Porque vendrán días sobre ti, que tus enemigos te cercarán con baluarte, y te pondrán cerco, y de todas partes te pondrán en estrecho,
44Y te derribarán á tierra, y á tus hijos dentro de ti; y no dejarán sobre ti piedra sobre piedra; por cuanto no conociste el tiempo de tu visitación.
45Y entrando en el templo, comenzó á echar fuera á todos los que vendían y compraban en él.
46Diciéndoles: Escrito está: Mi casa, casa de oración es; mas vosotros la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones.
47Y enseñaba cada día en el templo; mas los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y los principales del pueblo procuraban matarle.
48Y no hallaban qué hacerle, porque todo el pueblo estaba suspenso oyéndole.

1And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
4And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
6And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
11And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
14But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
15And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
16Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
17And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
20And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
21For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
22And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

1He entered and was passing through Jericho.
2There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
3He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.
4He ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.
5When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
6He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
7When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”
8Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
11As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.
12He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.
13He called ten servants of his and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’
14But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’
15“When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
16The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’
17“He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
18“The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’
19“So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’
20Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
21for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’
22“He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down and reaping that which I didn’t sow.
23Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’
24He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to him who has the ten minas.’
25“They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’
26‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.
27But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”
28Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
29When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
30saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man has ever sat upon. Untie it and bring it.
31If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32Those who were sent went away and found things just as he had told them.
33As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34They said, “The Lord needs it.”
35Then they brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt and sat Jesus on them.
36As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.
37As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
38saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”
39Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”
41When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,
42saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
43For the days will come on you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
44and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”
45He entered into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,
46saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”
47He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests, the scribes, and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.
48They couldn’t find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
