And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Ed egli propose loro questa parabola, e disse:

Chi è tra voi, che avendo cento pecore, e avendone perduta una, non lasci nel deserto le altre novantanove, e non vada a cercar di quella, che si è smarrita, sino a tanto che la ritrovi?
¿Qué hombre de vosotros, teniendo cien ovejas, si perdiere una de ellas, no deja las noventa y nueve en el desierto, y va á la que se perdió, hasta que la halle?
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
“Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
E trovatala, se la pone sulle spalle allegramente:
Y hallada, la pone sobre sus hombros gozoso;
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
E tornato a casa chiama gli amici, e i vicini, dicendo loro: Rallegratevi meco, perché ho trovato la mia pecorella, che si era smarrita?
Y viniendo á casa, junta á los amigos y á los vecinos, diciéndoles: Dadme el parabién, porque he hallado mi oveja que se había perdido.
And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
Vi dico, che nello stesso modo si farà più festa in cielo per un peccatore, che fa penitenza, che per novantanove giusti, che non hanno bisogno di penitenza.
Os digo, que así habrá más gozo en el cielo de un pecador que se arrepiente, que de noventa y nueve justos, que no necesitan arrepentimiento.
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
Ovvero qual è quella donna, la quale avendo dieci dramme, perdutane una, non accenda la lucerna, e non iscopi la casa, e non cerchi diligentemente, sino che l'abbia trovata?
¿O qué mujer que tiene diez dracmas, si perdiere una dracma, no enciende el candil, y barre la casa, y busca con diligencia hasta hallarla?
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
“Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?
E trovatala, chiama le amiche, e le vicine, dicendo: Rallegratevi meco, perché ho ritrovato la dramma perduta.
Y cuando la hubiere hallado, junta las amigas y las vecinas, diciendo: Dadme el parabién, porque he hallado la dracma que había perdido.
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’
Così, vi dico, faranno festa gli Angeli di Dio per, un peccatore, che faccia penitenza.
Así os digo que hay gozo delante de los ángeles de Dios por un pecador que se arrepiente.
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

E soggiunse: Un uomo aveva due figliuoli,

E il minore di essi disse a suo padre: Padre, dammi la parte de' beni, che mi tocca. Ed egli fece tra loro le parti delle facoltà.

And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

E di lì a pochi giorni, messo il tutto insieme, il figliuolo minore se ne andò in lontano paese, e ivi dissipò tutto il suo in bagordi.

E dato che ebbe fondo a ogni cosa, fu gran carestia in quel paese, ed egli principiò a mancare del necessario.

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

E andò, e si insinuò presso di uno de' cittadini di quel paese; il quale le mandò alla sua villa a fare il guardiano de' porci.

And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Non sono ornai degno di esser chiamato tuo figlio: trattami come uno de' tuoi mercenarj.

And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

E alzatosi andò da suo padre. E mentre egli era tuttora lontano, suo padre lo scorse, e si mosse a pietà, egli corse incontro, e gittogli le braccia il collo, e lo baciò.
Y levantándose, vino á su padre. Y como aun estuviese lejos, viólo su padre, y fué movido á misericordia, y corrió, y echóse sobre su cuello, y besóle.
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

E il figliuolo dissegli: Padre, ho peccato contro del cielo, e contro di te: non sono ornai degno di esser chiamato tuo figlio.
Y el hijo le dijo: Padre, he pecado contra el cielo, y contra ti, y ya no soy digno de ser llamado tu hijo.
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
E il padre disse a' suoi servi: Presto cavate fuori la veste più preziosa, e mettetegliela indosso, e ponetegli al dito l'anello, e i borzacchini a' piedi:
Mas el padre dijo á sus siervos: Sacad el principal vestido, y vestidle; y poned un anillo en su mano, y zapatos en sus pies.
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
E menate il vitello grasso, e uccidetelo; e si mangi, e si banchetti:
Y traed el becerro grueso, y matadlo, y comamos, y hagamos fiesta:
And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate;
Perché questo mio figlio era morto, ed è risuscitato; si era perduto, e si è ritrovato. E cominciarono a banchettare.
Porque este mi hijo muerto era, y ha revivido; habíase perdido, y es hallado. Y comenzaron á regocijarse.
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Or il figliuolo maggiore era alla campagna, e nel ritorno avvicinandosi a casa sentì i concerti, e i balli:
Y su hijo el mayor estaba en el campo; el cual como vino, y llegó cerca de casa, oyó la sinfonía y las danzas;
Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

E chiamò uno de' servi, e gli domandò, che fosse questo.
Y llamando á uno de los criados, preguntóle qué era aquello.
And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

E quegli rispose: È tornato tuo fratello, e tuo padre ha ammazzato un vitello grasso, perché lo ha riavuto sano.
Y él le dijo: Tu hermano ha venido; y tu padre ha muerto el becerro grueso, por haberle recibido salvo.
And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’
Ed egli andò in collera, e non voleva entrare. Il padre adunque usci fuora, e cominciò a pregarlo.
Entonces se enojó, y no quería entrar. Salió por tanto su padre, y le rogaba que entrase.
And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.
Ma quegli rispose, e disse a suo padre: Sono già tanti anni, che io ti servo, e non ho mai trasgredito un tuo comando, e non mi hai dato giammai un capretto, che me lo godessi co' miei amici:
Mas él respondiendo, dijo al padre: He aquí tantos años te sirvo, no habiendo traspasado jamás tu mandamiento, y nunca me has dado un cabrito para gozarme con mis amigos:
And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
Ma dacché è venuto questo tuo figliuolo, che ha divorato il suo con donne di mala vita, hai ammazzato per lui il vitello grasso.
Mas cuando vino éste tu hijo, que ha consumido tu hacienda con rameras, has matado para él el becerro grueso.
But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
But when this your son came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’
Ma il padre gli disse: Figlio, tu se' sempre meco, e tutto quello, che ho, è tuo:
El entonces le dijo: Hijo, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todas mis cosas son tuyas.
And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
“He said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
Ma era giusto di banchettare, e di far festa, perché questo tuo fratello era morto, ed è risuscitato; si era perduto, e si è ritrovato. Con la parabola del fattore iniquo esorta a far limosina, insegnando, qual ricompensa meriti il dispensator fedele, e l'infedele delle ricchezze; e che niun può servire a Dio, e alle ricchezze. Che la legge, e i profeti sono stati fino a Giovanni, e che non perirà in alcuna parte la legge. Che non dee ripudiarsi la moglie per prenderne un'altra. Del ricco Epulone, e di Lazzaro mendico.
Mas era menester hacer fiesta y holgarnos, porque este tu hermano muerto era, y ha revivido; habíase perdido, y es hallado.
It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
