El Señor ordenó a Moisés que les diera a los sacerdotes, descendientes de Aarón, estas instrucciones: «No deben tocar ningún muerto, pues eso los hará impuros.
Y JEHOVÁ dijo á Moisés: Habla á los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, y diles que no se contaminen por un muerto en sus pueblos.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:
The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them, ‘A priest shall not defile himself for the dead among his people,
Tan solo se les permite hacerlo en caso de que el muerto sea un pariente cercano, como su madre, su padre, su hijo, su hija, su hermano, o su hermana soltera por la que tenga especial responsabilidad, por cuanto ella no tiene marido.
Mas por su pariente cercano á sí, por su madre, ó por su padre, ó por su hijo, ó por su hermano,
But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,
except for his relatives that are near to him: for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother,

O por su hermana virgen, á él cercana, la cual no haya tenido marido, por ella se contaminará.
And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

El sacerdote es jefe de su pueblo, así que es diferente de cualquier otro hombre del pueblo. Por eso, no debe contaminarse con lo que es impuro.

Serán santos delante de su Dios, y no deshonrarán ni profanarán su nombre, de otro modo serán indignos de presentar las ofrendas quemadas delante del Señor su Dios.

El sacerdote ha sido apartado para ofrecer los sacrificios a su Dios; es santo, porque yo, el Señor que lo santifico, soy santo.

And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

ni acercarse a un cadáver, aun cuando sea su padre o su madre.
Ni entrará donde haya alguna persona muerta, ni por su padre, ó por su madre se contaminará.

Y tomará él mujer con su virginidad.

No puede casarse con una viuda, ni con una divorciada, ni con una prostituta. Debe casarse con una virgen de su propia tribu, porque él no puede ser padre de hijos de sangre mixta, mitad sacerdotal y mitad de persona común. Yo soy el Señor que lo santifica».
Viuda, ó repudiada, ó infame, ó ramera, éstas no tomará: mas tomará virgen de sus pueblos por mujer.
A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
He shall not marry a widow, or one divorced, or a woman who has been defiled, or a prostitute. He shall take a virgin of his own people as a wife.

El Señor le ordenó a Moisés que le dijera a Aarón: «A través de todas las generaciones, cualquier descendiente tuyo que tenga algún defecto físico no podrá ofrecer sacrificio delante de Dios.
Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Habla á Aarón, y dile: El varón de tu simiente en sus generaciones, en el cual hubiere falta, no se allegará para ofrecer el pan de su Dios.
Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
“Say to Aaron, ‘None of your offspring throughout their generations who has a defect may approach to offer the bread of his God.
Por ejemplo, si un hombre es ciego o cojo, o tiene fracturada la nariz, o tiene algún dedo de más en las manos o en los pies,
Porque ningún varón en el cual hubiere falta, se allegará: varón ciego, ó cojo, ó falto, ó sobrado,
For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
For whatever man he is that has a defect, he shall not draw near: a blind man, or a lame, or he who has a flat nose, or any deformity,
o tiene fracturado un pie o una mano,
O varón en el cual hubiere quebradura de pie ó rotura de mano,
Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
or a man who has an injured foot, or an injured hand,
o es jorobado, o enano, o tiene un defecto en el ojo, o tiene sarna o tiña, o tiene los testículos dañados,
O corcovado, ó lagañoso, ó que tuviere nube en el ojo, ó que tenga sarna, ó empeine, ó compañón relajado;
Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
or hunchbacked, or a dwarf, or one who has a defect in his eye, or an itching disease, or scabs, or who has damaged testicles.
aun cuando sea descendiente de Aarón, no podrá ofrecer holocaustos al Señor, pues tiene un defecto físico.
Ningún varón de la simiente de Aarón sacerdote, en el cual hubiere falta, se allegará para ofrecer las ofrendas encendidas de Jehová. Hay falta en él; no se allegará á ofrecer el pan de su Dios.
No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall come near to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire. Since he has a defect, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.
Sin embargo, comerá de la comida de los sacerdotes, de los sacrificios ofrecidos a Dios, de las ofrendas santas y de las más santas.
El pan de su Dios, de lo muy santo y las cosas santificadas, comerá.
He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

Pero no pasará tras la cortina ni se acercará al altar, debido a su defecto físico. Si lo hace, contamina mi santuario. Yo soy el Señor que los he consagrado».
Empero no entrará del velo adentro, ni se allegará al altar, por cuanto hay falta en él: y no profanará mi santuario, porque yo Jehová soy el que los santifico.
Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
He shall not come near to the veil, nor come near to the altar, because he has a defect; that he may not profane my sanctuaries, for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’”
Moisés dio, pues, estas instrucciones a Aarón y a sus hijos y a todo el pueblo de Israel.
Y Moisés habló esto á Aarón, y á sus hijos, y á todos los hijos de Israel.
And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
So Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.
