GHIMEL. Ed oltre a ciò, quand'io alzi le grida, e lo preghi, ha chiuso il varco alla mia orazione.
Aun cuando clamé y dí voces, cerro los oídos á mi oración.

GHIMEL. Mi ha chiuse le strade con pietre quadrate: ha ruinati i miei sentieri.

DALETH. Egli è divenuto per me qual orso, che sta in aguato: come lione in luogo rimoto.
Como oso que acecha fué para mí, como león en escondrijos.
He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

DALETH. Egli tese il suo arco, e mi fe' come segno agli strali.

HE. Ne' miei reni ha confitte le frecce del suo turcasso.
Hizo entrar en mis riñones las saetas de su aljaba.

VAU. Ed io dissi: Ogni termine per me è sparito, e l'espettazione mia nel Signore.

ZAIN. Ricorditi della miseria, miseria mia eccedente, e dell'assenzio, e del fiele.
Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi abatimiento, del ajenjo y de la hiel.

ZAIN. Queste cose ho di continuo alla memoria, e si strugge l'anima mia dentro di me.
Tendrálo aún en memoria mi alma, porque en mí está humillada.

ZAIN. Queste cose riandando in cuor mio, per questo io spererò.
Esto reduciré á mi corazón, por lo cual esperaré.

HETH. Misericordia del Signore ell'è, che noi non siamo consunti: perchè non son mai venute meno le sue misericordie.
Es por la misericordia de Jehová que no somos consumidos, porque nunca decayeron sus misericordias.
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail.
HETH. Delle nuove ne sono ogni mattina: grandemente fedele se' tu.

TETH. Buono è il Signore a que', che sperano in lui, all'anima, che lo cerca.
Bueno es Jehová á los que en él esperan, al alma que le buscare.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

TETH. Buona cosa è l'aspettare in silenzio la salute di Dio.
Bueno es esperar callando en la salud de Jehová.

TETH. Buona cosa è per l'uomo l'aver portato il giogo fin dalla sua adolescenza.

JOD. Ei sederà solitario, e si tacerà, perch'egli il giogo ha preso sopra di se.
Sentaráse solo, y callará, porque lo llevó sobre sí.
He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

JOD. Porrà la bocca sua nella polvere (cercando) se a sorte siavi speranza.
Pondrá su boca en el polvo, por si quizá hay esperanza.
He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

JOD. Porgerà la guancia a chi lo percuote: sarà satollato d'ignominie.
Dará la mejilla al que le hiriere; hartaráse de afrenta.
He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

CAPH. Perocché non per sempre rigetterà da se il Signore.
Porque el Señor no desechará para siempre:
For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

CAPH. Perocché se egli ci ha rigettati, avrà anche pietà secondo le molte sue misericordie.
Antes si afligiere, también se compadecerá según la multitud de sus misericordias.
But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

LAMED. Ma per calpestare sotto i suoi piedi tutti gli schiavi della terra,

LAMED. Pesare con non giusta bilancia la causa d'un uomo nel suo cospetto.
Hacer apartar el derecho del hombre ante la presencia del Altísimo,

LAMED. Ledere ingiustamente un uomo nel suo giudizio: ciò non sa fare il Signore.
Trastornar al hombre en su causa, el Señor no lo sabe.
To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

MEM. Chi è colui, che ha detto, che si facesse una cosa, senza che il Signore la comandasse?
¿Quién será aquel que diga, que vino algo que el Señor no mandó?
Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

MEM. Non verran eglino dalla bocca del Signore i beni, ed i mali?
¿De la boca del Altísimo no saldrá malo y bueno?
Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
Doesn’t evil and good come out of the mouth of the Most High?
MEM. Perchè mai uomo vivente querelavasi dell'effetto de' suoi peccati?
¿Por qué murmura el hombre viviente, el hombre en su pecado?
Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

NUN. Disaminiamo, e facciam ricerca de' nostri andamenti, e torniamo al Signore.
Escudriñemos nuestros caminos, y busquemos, y volvámonos á Jehová.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

NUN. Alziamo al cielo insiem colle mani i cuori nostri al Signore.

NUN. Noi iniquamente ci diportammo, e ti provocammo ad ira: per questo tu se' inesorabile.
Nosotros nos hemos rebelado, y fuimos desleales; tú no perdonaste.

SAMECH. Tu ti cuopristi col tuo furore, e ci percuotesti: tu uccidesti, e non perdonasti.

SAMECH.. Ti ponesti davanti una nuvola, perchè non arrivasse a te l'orazione.
Te cubriste de nube, porque no pasase la oración nuestra.
Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.
SAMECH. Tu mi hai diradicato, e gettato per terra sulla faccia di tutti i popoli.
Raedura y abominación nos tornaste en medio de los pueblos.
Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.
PHE. Tutti i nemici hanno aperta la loro bocca contro di noi.
Todos nuestros enemigos abrieron sobre nosotros su boca.
All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

PHE. La profezia fu per noi terrore, e laccio, e rovina.
Temor y lazo fué para nosotros, asolamiento y quebrantamiento.
Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.”
PHE. Rivi di acque spargono gli occhi miei sopra l'afflizione della figliuola del popol mio.
Ríos de aguas echan mis ojos, por el quebrantamiento de la hija de mi pueblo.

AIN. Il mio occhio è afflitto, né si dà posa, perchè requie alcuna non è,
Mis ojos destilan, y no cesan, porque no hay alivio,
Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

AIN. Fino a tanto che il Signore volga l'occhio dal cielo, e rimiri.

SADE. E caduta l'anima mia nella fossa: hanno posta una pietra sopra di me.
