Tafel-Bibel
1Und die Söhne Israels begingen Untreue an dem Verbannten; und Achan, der Sohn Karmis, des Sohnes Sabdis, des Sohnes Serachs, vom Stamme Judah, nahm von dem Verbannten. Und der Zorn Jehovahs entbrannte wider die Söhne Israels.
2Und Joschua sandte Männer aus von Jericho nach Ai, das bei Beth Aven östlich von Bethel ist, und sprach zu ihnen und sagte: Ziehet hinauf und kundschaftet das Land aus. Und die Männer gingen hinauf und kundschafteten Ai aus.
3Und sie kehrten zu Joschua zurück und sprachen zu ihm: Laß nicht das ganze Volk hinaufziehen. Bei zweitausend Mann oder bei dreitausend Mann mögen hinaufziehen und Ai schlagen. Bemühe nicht das ganze Volk dahin; denn ihrer sind wenige.
4Und es zogen vom Volke bei dreitausend Mann dort hinauf, aber sie flohen vor den Männern von Ai.
5Und die Männer von Ai schlugen ihrer bei sechsunddreißig Mann und setzten ihnen nach vor das Tor bis Schebarim, und schlugen sie beim Hinabgehen. Und dem Volke zerschmolz das Herz und ward zu Wasser.
6Und Joschua zerriß seine Gewänder und fiel auf sein Angesicht zur Erde vor der Lade Jehovahs bis zum Abend, er und die Ältesten Israels und taten Staub auf ihr Haupt.
7Und Joschua sprach: Ach, Herr, Jehovah! Warum ließest Du doch dieses Volk über den Jordan herüberziehen, um uns in die Hand des Amoriters zu geben und uns zu zerstören! Hätten wir doch jenseits des Jordans bleiben wollen!
8Bitte, Herr, was soll ich sagen, nachdem Israel vor seinen Feinden den Rücken gekehrt hat?
9Und der Kanaaniter und alle Einwohner des Landes werden es hören, und uns umgeben und unseren Namen von der Erde ausrotten. Und was wirst Du für deinen großen Namen tun?
10Und Jehovah sprach zu Joschua: Stehe auf! Was fällst du da auf dein Angesicht?
11Israel hat gesündigt und sie haben auch Meinen Bund überschritten, den Ich ihnen geboten; und sie haben auch von dem Verbannten genommen, und haben auch gestohlen, sie haben es auch abgeleugnet und es auch in ihr Gerät getan.
12Und die Söhne Israels vermögen nicht aufzustehen vor ihren Feinden, sie müssen vor ihren Feinden den Rücken wenden; denn sie sind im Bann. Ich werde ferner nicht mit euch sein, wenn ihr den Bann nicht aus eurer Mitte vernichtet.
13Stehe auf, heilige das Volk und sprich: Heiligt euch auf morgen; denn also spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Ein Bann ist in deiner Mitte, Israel. Du vermagst nicht aufzustehen vor deinen Feinden, bis ihr den Bann aus eurer Mitte tut.
14Am Morgen aber sollt ihr nahen nach euren Stämmen, und es soll geschehen, daß der Stamm, den Jehovah herausnimmt, nahe nach seinen Familien, und die Familie, die Jehovah herausnimmt, soll nahen nach den Häusern, und das Haus, das Jehovah herausnimmt, soll nahen nach den Männern.
15Und es soll geschehen, daß der, als im Bann herausgenommen wird, mit Feuer verbrannt werde, er und all das Seine, weil er den Bund Jehovahs überschritten und eine Torheit in Israel getan hat.
16Und Joschua stand früh am Morgen auf und ließ Israel nach seinen Stämmen nahen, und der Stamm Judah ward herausgenommen.
17Und er ließ die Familien Judahs nahen und die Familie der Sarchiten ward herausgenommen; und er ließ die Familie der Sarchiten nahen nach den Männern, und Sabdi ward herausgenommen.
18Und er ließ nahen sein Haus nach den Männern, und es ward herausgenommen Achan, der Sohn Karmis, des Sohnes Serach, vom Stamme Judah.
19Und Joschua sprach zu Achan: Mein Sohn, gib Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels die Ehre, und gib Ihm ein Bekenntnis, und sage mir doch an, was du getan hast und verhehle es nicht vor mir.
20Und Achan antwortete dem Joschua und sprach: In Wahrheit, ich habe gesündigt an Jehovah, dem Gott Israels und so und so habe ich getan;
21Und ich sah unter der Beute einen guten Mantel aus Schinear und zweihundert Schekel Silber und eine Barre Goldes, fünfzig Schekel sein Gewicht. Und ich begehrte danach, und ich nahm sie. Und siehe, sie sind in der Erde verdeckt in der Mitte meines Zeltes, und das Silber darunter.
22Und Joschua sandte Boten, und sie liefen nach dem Zelt, und siehe, es war verdeckt in seinem Zelt, und das Silber darunter.
23Und sie nahmen dieselben aus der Mitte des Zeltes und brachten sie herein zu Joschua und zu allen Söhnen Israels und schütteten sie aus vor Jehovah.
24Und Joschua nahm den Achan, den Sohn Serachs, und das Silber und den Mantel und die Zunge Goldes und seine Söhne und seine Töchter und seinen Ochsen und seinen Esel und sein Kleinvieh und sein Zelt und alles, was er hatte, und ganz Israel mit ihm brachten sie hinauf in den Talgrund Achor.
25Und Joschua sprach: Wie du uns zerrüttet, so zerrütte dich Jehovah an diesem Tage. Und ganz Israel steinigte ihn mit Steinen und sie verbrannten sie mit Feuer und warfen Steine auf sie.
26Und sie errichteten über ihm einen großen Steinhaufen bis auf diesen Tag. Und Jehovah kehrte Sich zurück von der Entbrennung Seines Zornes. Darum nennt man den Namen selbigen Ortes Emek Achor bis auf diesen Tag.

1EMPERO los hijos de Israel cometieron prevaricación en el anatema: porque Achân, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó del anatema; y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra los hijos de Israel.
2Y Josué envió hombres desde Jericó á Hai, que estaba junto á Beth-aven hacia el oriente de Beth-el; y hablóles diciendo: Subid, y reconoced la tierra. Y ellos subieron, y reconocieron á Hai.
3Y volviendo á Josué, dijéronle: No suba todo el pueblo, mas suban como dos mil ó como tres mil hombres, y tomarán á Hai: no fatigues á todo el pueblo allí, porque son pocos.
4Y subieron allá del pueblo como tres mil hombres, los cuales huyeron delante de los de Hai.
5Y los de Hai hirieron de ellos como treinta y seis hombres, y siguiéronlos desde la puerta hasta Sebarim, y los rompieron en la bajada: por lo que se disolvió el corazón del pueblo, y vino á ser como agua.
6Entonces Josué rompió sus vestidos, y postróse en tierra sobre su rostro delante del arca de Jehová hasta la tarde, él y los ancianos de Israel; y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas.
7Y Josué dijo: ¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ¿Por qué hiciste pasar á este pueblo el Jordán, para entregarnos en las manos de los Amorrheos, que nos destruyan? ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos quedado de la otra parte del Jordán!
8¡Ay Señor! ¿qué diré, ya que Israel ha vuelto las espaldas delante de sus enemigos?
9Porque los Cananeos y todos los moradores de la tierra oirán, y nos cercarán, y raerán nuestro nombre de sobre la tierra: entonces ¿qué harás tú á tu grande nombre?
10Y Jehová dijo á Josué: Levántate; ¿por qué te postras así sobre tu rostro?
11Israel ha pecado, y aun han quebrantado mi pacto que yo les había mandado; pues aun han tomado del anatema, y hasta han hurtado, y también han mentido, y aun lo han guardado entre sus enseres.
12Por esto los hijos de Israel no podrán estar delante de sus enemigos, sino que delante de sus enemigos volverán las espaldas; por cuanto han venido á ser anatema: ni seré más con vosotros, si no destruyereis el anatema de en medio de vosotros.
13Levántate, santifica al pueblo, y di: Santificaos para mañana; porque Jehová el Dios de Israel dice así: Anatema hay en medio de ti, Israel; no podrás estar delante de tus enemigos, hasta tanto que hayáis quitado el anatema de en medio de vosotros.
14Os allegaréis, pues, mañana por vuestras tribus; y la tribu que Jehová tomare, se allegará por sus familias; y la familia que Jehová tomare, se allegará por sus casas; y la casa que Jehová tomare, allegaráse por los varones;
15Y el que fuere cogido en el anatema, será quemado á fuego, él y todo lo que tiene, por cuanto ha quebrantado el pacto de Jehová, y ha cometido maldad en Israel.
16Josué, pues, levantándose de mañana, hizo allegar á Israel por sus tribus; y fué tomada la tribu de Judá;
17Y haciendo allegar la tribu de Judá, fué tomada la familia de los de Zera; haciendo luego allegar la familia de los de Zera por los varones, fué tomado Zabdi;
18E hizo allegar su casa por los varones, y fué tomado Achân, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá.
19Entonces Josué dijo á Achân: Hijo mío, da gloria ahora á Jehová el Dios de Israel, y dale alabanza, y declárame ahora lo que has hecho; no me lo encubras.
20Y Achân respondió á Josué, diciendo: Verdaderamente yo he pecado contra Jehová el Dios de Israel, y he hecho así y así:
21Que vi entre los despojos un manto babilónico muy bueno, y doscientos siclos de plata, y un changote de oro de peso de cincuenta siclos; lo cual codicié, y tomé: y he aquí que está escondido debajo de tierra en el medio de mi tienda, y el dinero debajo de ello.
22Josué entonces envió mensajeros, los cuales fueron corriendo á la tienda; y he aquí estaba escondido en su tienda, y el dinero debajo de ello:
23Y tomándolo de en medio de la tienda, trajéronlo á Josué y á todos los hijos de Israel, y pusiéronlo delante de Jehová.
24Entonces Josué, y todo Israel con él, tomó á Achân hijo de Zera, y el dinero, y el manto, y el changote de oro, y sus hijos, y sus hijas, y sus bueyes, y sus asnos, y sus ovejas, y su tienda, y todo cuanto tenía, y lleváronlo todo al valle de Achôr;
25Y dijo Josué: ¿Por qué nos has turbado? Túrbete Jehová en este día. Y todos los Israelitas los apedrearon, y los quemaron á fuego, después de apedrearlos con piedras;
26Y levantaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras, hasta hoy. Y Jehová se tornó de la ira de su furor. Y por esto fué llamado aquel lugar el Valle de Achôr, hasta hoy.

1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.
2And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth-aven, on the east side of Beth-el, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
3And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
4So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.
5And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.
6And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
7And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!
8O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!
9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
10And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?
11Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
12Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
13Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
14In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.
15And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
16So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:
17And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:
18And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
19And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
20And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:
21When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.
22So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
23And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.
24And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.
25And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
26And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
World English Bible
1But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against the children of Israel.
2Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.
3They returned to Joshua, and said to him, “Don’t let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Don’t make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them.”
4So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.
5The men of Ai struck about thirty-six men of them. They chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and struck them at the descent. The hearts of the people melted, and became like water.
6Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the LORD’s ark until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
7Joshua said, “Alas, Lord GOD, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!
8Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after Israel has turned their backs before their enemies?
9For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?”
10The LORD said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?
11Israel has sinned. Yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them. Yes, they have even taken some of the devoted things, and have also stolen, and also deceived. They have even put it among their own stuff.
12Therefore the children of Israel can’t stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.
13Get up! Sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for the LORD, the God of Israel, says, “There is a devoted thing among you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”
14In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which the LORD selects shall come near by families. The family which the LORD selects shall come near by households. The household which the LORD selects shall come near man by man.
15It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the LORD’s covenant, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
16So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes. The tribe of Judah was selected.
17He brought near the family of Judah, and he selected the family of the Zerahites. He brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was selected.
18He brought near his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.
19Joshua said to Achan, “My son, please give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done! Don’t hide it from me!”
20Achan answered Joshua, and said, “I have truly sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel, and this is what I have done.
21When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”
22So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Behold, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.
23They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before the LORD.
24Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his cattle, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.
25Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you today.” All Israel stoned him with stones, and they burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.
26They raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. The LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called “The valley of Achor” to this day.
