Y mandadles, diciendo: Tomaos de aquí del medio del Jordán, del lugar donde están firmes los pies de los sacerdotes, doce piedras, las cuales pasaréis con vosotros, y las asentaréis en el alojamiento donde habéis de tener la noche.
And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.

Afin que cela soit un signe au milieu de vous. Quand dans l'avenir vos enfants demanderont: Que veulent dire pour vous ces pierres?
Para que esto sea señal entre vosotros; y cuando vuestros hijos preguntaren á sus padres mañana, diciendo: ¿Qué os significan estas piedras?
That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?

Vous leur répondrez: C'est que les eaux du Jourdain furent coupées devant l'arche de l'alliance de l'Éternel, quand elle passa le Jourdain; les eaux du Jourdain furent coupées; et ces pierres sont pour les enfants d'Israël un mémorial à jamais.
Les responderéis: Que las aguas del Jordán fueron partidas delante del arca del pacto de Jehová; cuando ella pasó el Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se partieron: y estas piedras serán por memoria á los hijos de Israel para siempre.

Les enfants d'Israël firent donc ce que Josué avait commandé. Ils prirent douze pierres du milieu du Jourdain, comme l'Éternel l'avait dit à Josué, selon le nombre des tribus des enfants d'Israël, et les emportèrent avec eux au lieu où ils passèrent la nuit, et ils les y posèrent.
