1Und es geschah, als die ganze Nation vollends über den Jordan gezogen war, da sprach Jehova zu Josua und sagte:
2Nehmet euch aus dem Volke zwölf Männer, je einen Mann aus einem Stamme,
3und gebietet ihnen und sprechet: Hebet euch auf von hier, aus der Mitte des Jordan, von dem Standorte, wo die Füße der Priester festgestanden haben, zwölf Steine; und bringet sie mit euch hinüber und leget sie nieder in dem Nachtlager, wo ihr diese Nacht übernachten werdet.
4Und Josua rief die zwölf Männer, die er aus den Kindern Israel bestellt hatte, je einen Mann aus einem Stamme.
5Und Josua sprach zu ihnen: Gehet hinüber, vor die Lade Jehovas, eures Gottes, in die Mitte des Jordan, und hebet euch ein jeder einen Stein auf seine Schulter, nach der Zahl der Stämme der Kinder Israel,
6damit dies ein Zeichen unter euch sei. Wenn eure Kinder künftig fragen und sprechen: Was bedeuten euch diese Steine? -
7so sollt ihr zu ihnen sagen: Daß die Wasser des Jordan vor der Lade des Bundes Jehovas abgeschnitten wurden; als sie durch den Jordan ging, wurden die Wasser des Jordan abgeschnitten. Und diese Steine sollen für die Kinder Israel zum Gedächtnis sein ewiglich.
8Und die Kinder Israel taten also, wie Josua geboten hatte, und hoben zwölf Steine auf aus der Mitte des Jordan, so wie Jehova zu Josua geredet hatte, nach der Zahl der Stämme der Kinder Israel; und sie brachten sie mit sich in das Nachtlager hinüber und legten sie daselbst nieder.
9Und zwölf Steine richtete Josua auf in der Mitte des Jordan, an der Stelle, wo die Füße der Priester gestanden hatten, welche die Lade des Bundes trugen; und sie sind daselbst bis auf diesen Tag.
10Und die Priester, welche die Lade trugen, blieben in der Mitte des Jordan stehen, bis alles vollendet war, was Jehova dem Josua geboten hatte, zu dem Volke zu reden, nach allem was Mose dem Josua geboten hatte. Und das Volk eilte und zog hinüber.
11Und es geschah, als das ganze Volk vollends hinübergezogen war, da zogen die Lade Jehovas und die Priester angesichts des Volkes hinüber.
12Und die Kinder Ruben und die Kinder Gad und der halbe Stamm Manasse zogen gerüstet vor den Kindern Israel her, wie Mose zu ihnen geredet hatte.
13Bei vierzigtausend zum Heere Gerüstete zogen sie vor Jehova her zum Streit in die Ebenen von Jericho.
14An selbigem Tage machte Jehova den Josua groß in den Augen von ganz Israel; und sie fürchteten ihn, wie sie Mose gefürchtet hatten, alle Tage seines Lebens.
15Und Jehova sprach zu Josua und sagte:
16Gebiete den Priestern, welche die Lade des Zeugnisses tragen, daß sie aus dem Jordan heraufsteigen.
17Und Josua gebot den Priestern und sprach: Steiget aus dem Jordan herauf!
18Und es geschah, als die Priester, welche die Lade des Bundes Jehovas trugen, aus der Mitte des Jordan heraufstiegen, als die Fußsohlen der Priester sich abgerissen hatten auf das Trockene, da kehrten die Wasser des Jordan an ihren Ort zurück, und sie flossen wie früher über alle seine Ufer.
19Und das Volk stieg aus dem Jordan herauf am Zehnten des ersten Monats; und sie lagerten sich in Gilgal an der Ostgrenze von Jericho.
20Und jene zwölf Steine, die sie aus dem Jordan genommen hatten, richtete Josua zu Gilgal auf.
21Und er sprach zu den Kindern Israel und sagte: Wenn eure Kinder künftig ihre Väter fragen und sprechen: Was bedeuten diese Steine? -
22so sollt ihr es euren Kindern kundtun und sprechen: Auf trockenem Boden ist Israel durch diesen Jordan gezogen.
23Denn Jehova, euer Gott, hat die Wasser des Jordan vor euch ausgetrocknet, bis ihr hinübergezogen waret, so wie Jehova, euer Gott, mit dem Schilfmeere tat, das er vor uns austrocknete, bis wir hinübergezogen waren:
24damit alle Völker der Erde die Hand Jehovas erkennten, daß sie stark ist; damit ihr Jehova, euren Gott, fürchtet alle Tage.

1Y CUANDO toda la gente hubo acabado de pasar el Jordán, Jehová habló á Josué, diciendo:
2Tomad del pueblo doce hombres, de cada tribu uno,
3Y mandadles, diciendo: Tomaos de aquí del medio del Jordán, del lugar donde están firmes los pies de los sacerdotes, doce piedras, las cuales pasaréis con vosotros, y las asentaréis en el alojamiento donde habéis de tener la noche.
4Entonces Josué llamó á los doce hombres, los cuales había él ordenado de entre los hijos de Israel, de cada tribu uno;
5Y díjoles Josué: Pasad delante del arca de Jehová vuestro Dios al medio del Jordán; y cada uno de vosotros tome una piedra sobre su hombro, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel;
6Para que esto sea señal entre vosotros; y cuando vuestros hijos preguntaren á sus padres mañana, diciendo: ¿Qué os significan estas piedras?
7Les responderéis: Que las aguas del Jordán fueron partidas delante del arca del pacto de Jehová; cuando ella pasó el Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se partieron: y estas piedras serán por memoria á los hijos de Israel para siempre.
8Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así como Josué les mandó: que levantaron doce piedras del medio del Jordán, como Jehová lo había dicho á Josué, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, y pasáronlas consigo al alojamiento, y las asentaron allí.
9Josué también levantó doce piedras en medio del Jordán, en el lugar donde estuvieron los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto; y han estado allí hasta hoy.
10Y los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca se pararon en medio del Jordán, hasta tanto que se acabó todo lo que Jehová había mandado á Josué que hablase al pueblo, conforme á todas las cosas que Moisés había á Josué mandado: y el pueblo se dió priesa y pasó.
11Y cuando todo el pueblo acabó de pasar, pasó también el arca de Jehová, y los sacerdotes, en presencia del pueblo.
12También los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, pasaron armados delante de los hijos de Israel, según Moisés les había dicho:
13Como cuarenta mil hombres armados á punto pasaron hacia la campiña de Jericó delante de Jehová á la guerra.
14En aquel día Jehová engrandeció á Josué en ojos de todo Israel: y temiéronle, como habían temido á Moisés, todos los días de su vida.
15Y Jehová habló á Josué, diciendo:
16Manda á los sacerdotes que llevan el arca del testimonio, que suban del Jordán.
17Y Josué mandó á los sacerdotes, diciendo: Subid del Jordán.
18Y aconteció que como los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto de Jehová, subieron del medio del Jordán, y las plantas de los pies de los sacerdotes estuvieron en seco, las aguas del Jordán se volvieron á su lugar, corriendo como antes sobre todos sus bordes.
19Y el pueblo subió del Jordán el diez del mes primero, y asentaron el campo en Gilgal, al lado oriental de Jericó.
20Y Josué erigió en Gilgal las doce piedras que habían traído del Jordán.
21Y habló á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Cuando mañana preguntaren vuestros hijos á sus padres, y dijeren: ¿Qué os significan estas piedras?
22Declararéis á vuestros hijos, diciendo: Israel pasó en seco por este Jordán.
23Porque Jehová vuestro Dios secó las aguas del Jordán delante de vosotros, hasta que habíais pasado, á la manera que Jehová vuestro Dios lo había hecho en el mar Bermejo, al cual secó delante de nosotros hasta que pasamos:
24Para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan la mano de Jehová, que es fuerte; para que temáis á Jehová vuestro Dios todos los días.

1And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
2Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
3And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
4Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
5And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
11And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
13About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
16Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
17Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
18And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
19And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
20And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
21And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
22Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
24That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.

1When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, the LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,
2“Take twelve men out of the people, a man out of every tribe,
3and command them, saying, ‘Take from out of the middle of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, carry them over with you, and lay them down in the place where you’ll camp tonight.’”
4Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, a man out of every tribe.
5Joshua said to them, “Cross before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;
6that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in the future, saying, ‘What do you mean by these stones?’
7then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the LORD’s covenant. When it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”
8The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as the LORD spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel. They carried them over with them to the place where they camped, and laid them down there.
9Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.
10For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and passed over.
11When all the people had completely crossed over, the LORD’s ark crossed over with the priests in the presence of the people.
