1Y él Señor dijo a Josué:
2Di a los hijos de Israel: Que se marquen ciertos pueblos como lugares de refugio, como te dije de boca de Moisés.
3Para que cualquier hombre que, por error y no a sabiendas, haya tomado la vida de otro, pueda huir a uno de esos refugios. Y serán lugares seguros para protegerse del que tiene el derecho de vengarse del pariente más cercano del muerto.
4Y si alguien va en vuelo a una de esas ciudades, y entra en el lugar público de la ciudad, y pone su causa ante los hombres responsables de la ciudad, lo llevarán a la ciudad y le darán un lugar entre ellos donde él pueda estar a salvo.
5Y si el que tiene el derecho de vengarse viene tras él, no deben entregarle al que tomó la vida; Porque él fue la causa de la muerte de su vecino sin intención y no por odio.
6Y él seguirá viviendo en ese pueblo hasta que tenga que venir ante la reunión del pueblo para ser juzgado; y hasta la muerte de aquel que es sumo sacerdote en ese momento. Entonces el refugiado puede regresar a su ciudad y a su casa, a la ciudad desde la cual había salido huyendo.
7Entonces seleccionaron a Cedes en Galilea, en la región montañosa de Neftalí, y a Siquem, en la región montañosa de Efraín, y Quiriat-arba (que es Hebrón) en la región montañosa de Judá.
8Y en el lado este del Jordán, en Jericó, seleccionaron a Beser, en las tierras baldías, en la tierra de la mesa, fuera de la tribu de Rubén, y Ramot en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y Golán en Basán de la tribu de Manasés.
9Estos eran los pueblos marcados para todos los hijos de Israel y para el hombre de un país extraño que habite entre ellos, para que cualquiera que causara la muerte de otro por error, pudiera refugiarse allí y no morir, para que de este modo el pariente más cercano del muerto no pudiera vengarse y matarlo antes que él pueblo lo juzgará.

1Y HABLÓ Jehová á Josué, diciendo:
2Habla á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por Moisés;
3Para que se acoja allí el homicida que matare á alguno por yerro y no á sabiendas; que os sean por acogimiento del cercano del muerto.
4Y el que se acogiere á alguna de aquellas ciudades, presentaráse á la puerta de la ciudad, y dirá sus causas, oyéndolo los ancianos de aquella ciudad: y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar que habite con ellos.
5Y cuando el cercano del muerto le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió á su prójimo por yerro, ni tuvo con él antes enemistad.
6Y quedará en aquella ciudad hasta que parezca en juicio delante del ayuntamiento, hasta la muerte del gran sacerdote que fuere en aquel tiempo: entonces el homicida tornará y vendrá á su ciudad y á su casa y á la ciudad de donde huyó.
7Entonces señalaron á Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Nephtalí, y á Sichêm en el monte de Ephraim, y á Chîriath-arba, que es Hebrón, en el monte de Judá.
8Y de la otra parte del Jordán de Jericó, al oriente, señalaron á Beser en el desierto, en la llanura de la tribu de Rubén, y á Ramoth en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y á Gaulón en Basán de la tribu de Manasés.
9Estas fueron las ciudades señaladas para todos los hijos de Israel, y para el extranjero que morase entre ellos, para que se acogiese á ellas cualquiera que hiriese hombre por yerro, y no muriese por mano del cercano del muerto, hasta que compareciese delante del ayuntamiento.

1The LORD also spake unto Joshua, saying,
2Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:
3That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
4And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
6And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
7And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjath-arba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.
8And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
World English Bible
1The LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,
2“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Assign the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by Moses,
3that the man slayer who kills any person accidentally or unintentionally may flee there. They shall be to you for a refuge from the avenger of blood.
4He shall flee to one of those cities, and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declare his case in the ears of the elders of that city. They shall take him into the city with them, and give him a place, that he may live among them.
5If the avenger of blood pursues him, then they shall not deliver up the man slayer into his hand; because he struck his neighbor unintentionally, and didn’t hate him before.
6He shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days. Then the man slayer shall return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city he fled from.’”
7They set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (also called Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.
