1Jahwe aber beorderte einen großen Fisch, Jona zu verschlingen. Und Jona war im Leibe des Fisches drei Tage und drei Nächte.
2Da betete Jona im Leibe des Fisches zu Jahwe, seinem Gott,
3und sprach: Aus meiner Bedrängnis rief ich Jahwe an, da antwortete er mir; aus dem Schoße der Unterwelt schrie ich um Hilfe, und du hörtest mein Rufen.
4Du schleudertest mich in die Tiefe, mitten ins Meer, daß die Strömung mich umringte; alle deine Wogen und Wellen überfluteten mich.
5Schon dachte ich: Ich bin aus deinen Augen verstoßen! Werde ich je deinen heiligen Tempel wieder erblicken?
6Die Wasser umfingen mich und gingen mir bis ans Leben. Es umringte mich die Flut; Meergras war um mein Haupt geschlungen.
7Zu den tiefsten Gründen der Berge war ich hinabgefahren; der Erde Riegel umschlossen mich für immer. Da zogst du mein Leben aus der Grube empor, Jahwe, mein Gott!
8Als meine Seele in mir verzagte, da gedachte ich an Jahwe, und mein Gebet drang zu dir in deinen heiligen Tempel.
9Die sich an die nichtigen Götzen halten, die geben ihr Bestes preis.
10Ich aber will mit lautem Danke dir opfern; was ich gelobt, will ich bezahlen: von Jahwe kommt die Hilfe!
11Jahwe aber befahl dem Fisch, Jona ans Land zu speien.

1MAS Jehová había prevenido un gran pez que tragase á Jonás: y estuvo Jonás en el vientre del pez tres días y tres noches.
2Y oró Jonás desde el vientre del pez á Jehová su Dios,
3Y dijo: Clamé de mi tribulación á Jehová, y él me oyó; del vientre del sepulcro clamé, y mi voz oiste.
4Echásteme en el profundo, en medio de los mares, y rodeóme la corriente; todas tus ondas y tus olas pasaron sobre mí.
5Y yo dije: Echado soy de delante de tus ojos: mas aun veré tu santo templo.
6Las aguas me rodearon hasta el alma, rodeóme el abismo; la ova se enredó á mi cabeza.
7Descendí á las raíces de los montes; la tierra echó sus cerraduras sobre mí para siempre: mas tú sacaste mi vida de la sepultura, oh Jehová Dios mío.
8Cuando mi alma desfallecía en mí, acordéme de Jehová; y mi oración entró hasta ti en tu santo templo.
9Los que guardan las vanidades ilusorias, su misericordia abandonan.
10Yo empero con voz de alabanza te sacrificaré; pagaré lo que prometí. La salvación pertenece á Jehová. Y mandó Jehová al pez, y vomitó á Jonás en tierra.

1Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly,
2And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
7When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
10And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

1Then Jonah prayed to the LORD, his God, out of the fish’s belly.
2He said, “I called because of my affliction to the LORD. He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried. You heard my voice.
3For you threw me into the depths, in the heart of the seas. The flood was all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.
4I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.’
5The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The deep was around me. The weeds were wrapped around my head.
6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains. The earth barred me in forever; yet you have brought my life up from the pit, LORD my God.
7“When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD. My prayer came in to you, into your holy temple.
8Those who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.
9But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving. I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation belongs to the LORD.”
10Then the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.
