"Yo verdaderamente sé que esto es así. Pero, ¿cómo una persona puede estar en lo correcto con Dios?
Ciertamente yo conozco que es así: ¿y cómo se justificará el hombre con Dios?
I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
“Truly I know that it is so, but how can man be just with God?
Si él quiere discutir con Dios, no puede contestarle una vez en mil veces.
Si quisiere contender con él, no le podrá responder á una cosa de mil.
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
If he is pleased to contend with him, he can’t answer him one time in a thousand.
Dios es sabio de corazón y poderoso en fuerza; ¿quién alguna vez se ha endurecido contra Él y ha tenido éxito? —
El es sabio de corazón, y poderoso en fortaleza: ¿quién se endureció contra él, y quedó en paz?
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
God is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against him and prospered?
Él quien remueve las montañas sin avisar a nadie, cuando Él las vuelca en Su ira—
Que arranca los montes con su furor, y no conocen quién los trastornó:
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
He removes the mountains, and they don’t know it, when he overturns them in his anger.
Él, que sacude la tierra fuera de su sitio y pone sus soportes a temblar.
Que remueve la tierra de su lugar, y hace temblar sus columnas:
Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
He shakes the earth out of its place. Its pillars tremble.
Es el mismo Dios que le dice al sol que no se levante, y no lo hace; y el que cubre las estrellas,
Que manda al sol, y no sale; y sella las estrellas:
Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
He commands the sun and it doesn’t rise, and seals up the stars.
el que por Sí solo extiende los cielos y pisotea las olas del mar,
El que extiende solo los cielos, y anda sobre las alturas de la mar:
Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
He alone stretches out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea.
quien hace a la Osa, al Orión, las Pleyades, y las constelaciones del sur.
El que hizo el Arcturo, y el Orión, y las Pléyadas, y los lugares secretos del mediodía:
Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
He makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the rooms of the south.
Es el mismo Dios que hace cosas grandes, cosas incomprensibles—de hecho, cosas maravillosas sin número.
El que hace cosas grandes é incomprensibles, y maravillosas, sin número.
Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
He does great things past finding out; yes, marvelous things without number.
Mira, Él pasa cerca de mí, y yo no lo veo; además, Él pasa de largo, pero no lo percibo.
He aquí que él pasará delante de mí, y yo no lo veré; y pasará, y no lo entenderé.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Behold, he goes by me, and I don’t see him. He passes on also, but I don’t perceive him.
Si Él quita algo, ¿quién lo puede detener? ¿Quién le puede decir a Él: '¿Qué estás haciendo?'
He aquí, arrebatará; ¿quién le hará restituir? ¿Quién le dirá, Qué haces?
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
Behold, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, ‘What are you doing?’
Dios no retirará su irá; los ayudantes de Rahab se humillan delante de Él.
Dios no tornará atrás su ira, y debajo de él se encorvan los que ayudan á los soberbios.
If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
“God will not withdraw his anger. The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.
¿Cuánto menos podría contestarle, podría elegir palabras para razonar con Él?
¿Cuánto menos le responderé yo, y hablaré con él palabras estudiadas?
How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?
How much less will I answer him, and choose my words to argue with him?
Aunque yo fuera justo, no podría contestarle; solamente podría rogar por misericordia a mi Juez.
Que aunque fuese yo justo, no responderé; antes habré de rogar á mi juez.
Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.
Though I were righteous, yet I wouldn’t answer him. I would make supplication to my judge.
Aún si yo llamara y Él me respondiera, yo no creería que Él estuviera escuchando mi voz.
Que si yo le invocase, y él me respondiese, aun no creeré que haya escuchado mi voz.
If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
If I had called, and he had answered me, yet I wouldn’t believe that he listened to my voice.
Porque Él me quiebra con una tempestad y multiplica mis heridas sin causa.
Porque me ha quebrado con tempestad, y ha aumentado mis heridas sin causa.
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
For he breaks me with a storm, and multiplies my wounds without cause.
Él ni siquiera me permite recuperar mi aliento, en cambio, Él me llena con amargura.
No me ha concedido que tome mi aliento; mas hame hartado de amarguras.
He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
He will not allow me to catch my breath, but fills me with bitterness.
Si es un asunto de fuerza, ¡miren, Él es poderoso! Si es un asunto de justicia, ¿quién puede convocarlo?
Si habláremos de su potencia, fuerte por cierto es; si de juicio, ¿quién me emplazará?
If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?
If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, ‘Who,’ says he, ‘will summon me?’
Aunque yo estoy en lo correcto, mi propia boca me condenaría; y aunque estoy libre de culpa, mis palabras me probarían ser culpable.
Si yo me justificare, me condenará mi boca; si me dijere perfecto, esto me hará inicuo.
If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse.
No soy culpable, pero ya no tengo cuidado de mi mismo; yo desprecio mi propria vida.
Bien que yo fuese íntegro, no conozco mi alma: reprocharé mi vida.
Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
I am blameless. I don’t respect myself. I despise my life.
No hace diferencia, por eso es que digo que Él destruye a la gente inocente junto a la gente impía.
Una cosa resta que yo diga: Al perfecto y al impío él los consume.
This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
“It is all the same. Therefore I say he destroys the blameless and the wicked.
Si una plaga de repente matara, Él se reiría ante las aflicciones de personas inocentes.
Si azote mata de presto, ríese de la prueba de los inocentes.
If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
If the scourge kills suddenly, he will mock at the trial of the innocent.
La tierra es puesta en la mano de los impíos; Dios cubre las caras de sus jueces. Si no es Él quien lo hace, entonces, ¿quién?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los impíos, y él cubre el rostro de sus jueces. Si no es él, ¿quién es? ¿dónde está?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of its judges. If not he, then who is it?
Mis días son más veloces que un mensajero que corre; mis días huyen; ellos no ven nada bueno en ningún sitio.
Mis días han sido más ligeros que un correo; huyeron, y no vieron el bien.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
“Now my days are swifter than a runner. They flee away. They see no good.
Son tan rápidos como botes hechos de caña de papiro, y tan rápidos como el águila que se lanza hacia bajo encima de sus víctimas.
Pasaron cual navíos veloces: como el águila que se arroja á la comida.
They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey.

Si yo dijera que yo me olvidaría de mis quejas, que me quitaría mi cara triste y sería feliz,
Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, dejaré mi aburrimiento, y esforzaréme:
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:
If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up,’
yo tendría miedo de todas mis penas porque yo sé que tú no me considerarás inocente.
Contúrbanme todos mis trabajos; sé que no me darás por libre.
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
I am afraid of all my sorrows. I know that you will not hold me innocent.
Yo seré condenado; entonces, ¿porqué yo trataría en vano?
Yo soy impío, ¿para qué trabajaré en vano?
If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
I will be condemned. Why then do I labor in vain?
Si me lavara a mí mismo con agua de nieve e hiciera mis manos tan, tan limpias,
Aunque me lave con aguas de nieve, y limpie mis manos con la misma limpieza,
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
If I wash myself with snow, and cleanse my hands with lye,
Dios me hundiría en una zanja, y mis propias ropas estarían disgustadas conmigo.
Aun me hundirás en el hoyo, y mis propios vestidos me abominarán.
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
yet you will plunge me in the ditch. My own clothes will abhor me.
Porque Dios no es un hombre, como yo, que yo pudiera contestarle, que pudíeramos venir juntos a la corte.
Porque no es hombre como yo, para que yo le responda, y vengamos juntamente á juicio.
For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

No hay juez entre nosotros que pueda posar su mano sobre los dos.

Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

No hay otro juez que pueda quitar la vara de Dios de encima de mí, que pueda impedir que Su terror me espante.
Quite de sobre mí su vara, y su terror no me espante.
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:

Entonces, yo hablaría y no le temería. Pero como están las cosas ahora, yo no puedo hacer eso.
Entonces hablaré, y no le temeré: porque así no estoy en mí mismo.
Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.
