Se noi imprenderemo a parlarti, forse lo prenderai in mala parte; ma chi può rattener la parola, che gli viene alla bocca?
Si probáremos á hablarte, serte ha molesto; mas ¿quién podrá detener las palabras?
If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?
“If someone ventures to talk with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
Tu fosti già il maestro di molti, e alle braccia stanche rendesti vigore:
He aquí, tú enseñabas á muchos, y las manos flacas corroborabas;
Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
Behold, you have instructed many, you have strengthened the weak hands.
Le tue parole furon sostegno ai vacillanti, ed alle tremanti ginocchia desti conforto:
Al que vacilaba, enderezaban tus palabras, y esforzabas las rodillas que decaían.
Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
Your words have supported him who was falling, you have made the feeble knees firm.
Ma ora, che il flagello è venuto sopra di te, tu se' abbattuto; ti ha toccato, e ti sbigottisci.
Mas ahora que el mal sobre ti ha venido, te es duro; y cuando ha llegado hasta ti, te turbas.
But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.
But now it has come to you, and you faint. It touches you, and you are troubled.
Dov' è la tua pietà, la tua fortezza, la tua pazienza, e la perfezione del tuo operare?
¿Es este tu temor, tu confianza, tu esperanza, y la perfección de tus caminos?
Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?
Isn’t your piety your confidence? Isn’t the integrity of your ways your hope?
Rammentati di grazia, qual mai innocente perì? e quando mai furono schiantati i giusti?
Recapacita ahora, ¿quién que fuera inocente se perdiera? y ¿en dónde los rectos fueron cortados?
Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?

Io vidi anzi coloro, che coltivaron l'iniquità, e seminavano all'anni, e affanni mietevano,
Como yo he visto, los que aran iniquidad y siembran injuria, la siegan.
Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble, reap the same.

Or un'arcana parola fa detta a me, e quasi di fuga il mio orecchio ne intese il debil suono.

It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,

Forse un uomo messo al paragone con Dio sarà dichiarato giusto, o sarà egli più puro del suo faccitore?
¿Si será el hombre más justo que Dios? ¿si será el varón más limpio que el que lo hizo?
Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
‘Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker?
Ecco che quelli che a lui servono non hanno stabilità, e negli Angeli suoi trova egli difetto.
He aquí que en sus siervos no confía, y notó necedad en sus ángeles;
Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:
Behold, he puts no trust in his servants. He charges his angels with error.
Quanto più quelli, che abitano case di fango, i quali hanno per fondamento la polvere, saran consunti come da verme?
¡Cuánto más en los que habitan en casas de lodo, cuyo fundamento está en el polvo, y que serán quebrantados de la polilla!
How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?
How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!
Dal mattino alla sera saranno troncati, e perché nissun ha intelligenza, periranno in eterno.
De la mañana á la tarde son quebrantados, y se pierden para siempre, sin haber quien lo considere.
They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.
Between morning and evening they are destroyed. They perish forever without any regarding it.
E quei, che tra loro primeggiano, saran tolti dal mondo: morranno, e non da sapienti. Eliphaz accusa nuovamente Giobbe di iniquità, perchè nissuno è punito dà Dio se non per sua colpa: e perciò esorta Giobbe, che si converta a Dio, e così gli promette ogni prosperità; e celebra le opere della providenza divina verso le creature.
¿Su hermosura, no se pierde con ellos mismos? Mueren, y sin sabiduría.
Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
Isn’t their tent cord plucked up within them? They die, and that without wisdom.’
