Job 32

1Ces trois hommes cessèrent de répliquer à Job, parce qu'il se considérait comme juste.
2Alors Elihou, fils de Barakhel, le Bouzite, de la famille de Râm, entra en colère. Il en voulait à Job d'affirmer son innocence devant Dieu.
3Et il en voulait aussi à ses trois amis de n'avoir plus trouvé de quoi répliquer, après avoir condamné Job.
4Or, Elihou avait attendu d'adresser la parole à Job, parce que les autres étaient plus âgés que lui.
5Mais, quand Elihou vit que ces trois hommes n'avaient plus de réponse à la bouche, sas colère s'enflamma.
6Et Elihou, fils de Barakhel, le Bouzite, prit la parole et dit: je suis jeune d'années et vous êtes vieux; c'est pourquoi j'étais intimidé, et je craignais de vous faire connaître mon avis.
7Je me disais: "C'est à la vieillesse de parler, au grand âge d'enseigner la sagesse."
8Mais celle-ci est chez les hommes une inspiration divine; le souffle du Tout Puissant les rend intelligents.
9Ce ne sont pas les plus âgés qui sont le plus sages, ni les vieillards qui comprennent ce qui est juste.
10Voilà pourquoi je dis: "Ecoute-moi donc, je veux exposer, moi aussi, mon opinion."
11Voyez, j'étais dans l'attente de vos paroles, je dressais l'oreille à vos raisonnements, espérant que vous iriez au fond des choses.
12J'étais suspendu à vos lèvres, et voilà que personne de vous n'a réfuté Job, personne n'a répondu à ses paroles.
13Gardez-vous de dire: "Nous nous sommes trouvés en face de la sagesse: Dieu peut triompher de lui, non un homme!"
14Ce n'est pas contre moi qu'il a dirigé ses discours, et je ne le combattrai pas avec vos paroles.
15Les voilà éperdus! Ils ne répondent plus; on leur a enlevé le don de la parole!
16J'attendrais vainement, car ils ne parlent plus, ils se tiennent cois, ils n'ont plus rien à répliquer.
17Je veux donc, moi aussi, répondre pour ma part, exposer mon opinion, moi aussi.
18Car je suis plein de discours: l'esprit qui anime mon sein m'oppresse.
19Oui, mon sein est comme un vin non débouché, il éclate comme des outres neuves.
20Laissez-moi donc parler, et ce sera un soulagement pour moi: je vais ouvrir mes lèvres et répliquer.
21Loin de moi de faire acception de personnes et de flatter qui que ce soit!
22Car j'ignore l'art de la flatterie: sans cela mon Créateur aurait vite fait de me supprimer.

1Y CESARON estos tres varones de responder á Job, por cuanto él era justo en sus ojos.
2Entonces Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita,, de la familia de Ram, se enojó con furor contra Job: enojóse con furor, por cuanto justificaba su vida más que á Dios.
3Enojóse asimismo con furor contra sus tres amigos, porque no hallaban qué responder, aunque habían condenado á Job.
4Y Eliú había esperado á Job en la disputa, porque eran más viejos de días que él.
5Empero viendo Eliú que no había respuesta en la boca de aquellos tres varones, su furor se encendió.
6Y respondió Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita, y dijo: Yo soy menor de días, y vosotros viejos; he tenido por tanto miedo, y temido declararos mi opinión.
7Yo decía: Los días hablarán, y la muchedumbre de años declarará sabiduría.
8Ciertamente espíritu hay en el hombre, é inspiración del Omnipotente los hace que entiendan.
9No los grandes son los sabios, ni los viejos entienden el derecho.
10Por tanto yo dije: Escuchadme; declararé yo también mi sabiduría.
11He aquí yo he esperado á vuestras razones, he escuchado vuestros argumentos, en tanto que buscabais palabras.
12Os he pues prestado atención, y he aquí que no hay de vosotros quien redarguya á Job, y responda á sus razones.
13Porque no digáis: Nosotros hemos hallado sabiduría: lanzólo Dios, no el hombre.
14Ahora bien, Job no enderezó á mí sus palabras, ni yo le responderé con vuestras razones.
15Espantáronse, no respondieron más: fuéronseles los razonamientos.
16Yo pues he esperado, porque no hablaban, antes pararon, y no respondieron más.
17Por eso yo también responderé mi parte, también yo declararé mi juicio.
18Porque lleno estoy de palabras, y el espíritu de mi vientre me constriñe.
19De cierto mi vientre está como el vino que no tiene respiradero, y se rompe como odres nuevos.
20Hablaré pues y respiraré; abriré mis labios, y responderé.
21No haré ahora acepción de personas, ni usaré con hombre de lisonjeros títulos.
22Porque no sé hablar lisonjas: de otra manera en breve mi Hacedor me consuma.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
6And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
7I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
8But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
9Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
10Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
11Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
12Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
13Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
14Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
16When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
17I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
18For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
19Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
21Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
22For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled against Job. His wrath was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also his wrath was kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled.
6Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered, “I am young, and you are very old. Therefore I held back, and didn’t dare show you my opinion.
7I said, ‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
8But there is a spirit in man, and the Spirit of the Almighty gives them understanding.
9It is not the great who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.
10Therefore I said, ‘Listen to me; I also will show my opinion.’
11“Behold, I waited for your words, and I listened for your reasoning, while you searched out what to say.
12Yes, I gave you my full attention, but there was no one who convinced Job, or who answered his words, among you.
13Beware lest you say, ‘We have found wisdom. God may refute him, not man;’
14for he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15“They are amazed. They answer no more. They don’t have a word to say.
16Shall I wait, because they don’t speak, because they stand still, and answer no more?
17I also will answer my part, and I also will show my opinion.
18For I am full of words. The spirit within me constrains me.
19Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent; like new wineskins it is ready to burst.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed. I will open my lips and answer.
21Please don’t let me respect any man’s person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.
22For I don’t know how to give flattering titles, or else my Maker would soon take me away.
