1Da hörten jene drei Männer auf, Hiob zu antworten, weil er in seinen Augen gerecht war.
2Es entbrannte aber der Zorn Elihus, des Sohnes Barachels, des Busiters, vom Geschlechte Ram; über Hiob entbrannte sein Zorn, weil er sich selbst für gerechter hielt als Gott;
3über seine drei Freunde aber entbrannte sein Zorn, weil sie keine Antwort fanden und Hiob doch verurteilten.
4Elihu aber hatte mit seiner Rede an Hiob gewartet; denn jene waren älter als er.
5Als aber Elihu sah, daß im Munde jener drei Männer keine Antwort mehr war, entbrannte sein Zorn.
6Und Elihu, der Sohn Barachels, der Busiter, hob an und sprach: Jung bin ich an Jahren, ihr aber seid grau; darum habe ich mich gefürchtet, euch meinen Befund zu verkünden.
7Ich dachte: Die Betagten sollen reden und die Bejahrten ihre Weisheit kundtun.
8Aber der Geist ist es im Menschen und der Odem des Allmächtigen, der sie verständig macht.
9Nicht alle Lehrer sind weise, und nicht alle Greise verstehen sich aufs Recht.
10Darum sage ich: Höret auf mich, so will ich mein Urteil verkünden, ja, auch ich.
11Siehe, ich habe eure Reden abgewartet, habe zugehört bis zu eurem Entscheid, bis ihr die rechten Worte gefunden hättet;
12und ich habe auf euch gewartet, bis ihr fertig waret; aber siehe, da ist keiner unter euch, der Hiob widerlegt, der seine Rede beantwortet hätte.
13Saget nur ja nicht: «Wir haben die Weisheit gefunden: Gott wird ihn schlagen, nicht ein Mensch.»
14Er hat seine Worte nicht an mich gerichtet, so will ich ihm auch nicht antworten wie ihr.
15Sie sind geschlagen, sie geben keine Antwort mehr, die Worte sind ihnen ausgegangen!
16Ich habe gewartet; weil sie aber nichts sagen, weil sie dastehen und nicht mehr antworten,
17so will auch ich nun meinen Teil erwidern und mein Urteil abgeben, ja, auch ich;
18denn ich bin voll von Worten, und der Geist, der in mir ist, drängt mich dazu.
19Siehe, mein Leib ist wie ein Weinschlauch, der keine Öffnung hat; wie Schläuche voll Most will er bersten.
20Darum will ich reden, so wird es mir leichter, ich will meine Lippen auftun und antworten.
21Ich will aber keine Person ansehen und keinem Menschen schmeicheln;
22denn ich kann nicht schmeicheln, leicht möchte mein Schöpfer mich sonst wegraffen!

1Y CESARON estos tres varones de responder á Job, por cuanto él era justo en sus ojos.
2Entonces Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita,, de la familia de Ram, se enojó con furor contra Job: enojóse con furor, por cuanto justificaba su vida más que á Dios.
3Enojóse asimismo con furor contra sus tres amigos, porque no hallaban qué responder, aunque habían condenado á Job.
4Y Eliú había esperado á Job en la disputa, porque eran más viejos de días que él.
5Empero viendo Eliú que no había respuesta en la boca de aquellos tres varones, su furor se encendió.
6Y respondió Eliú hijo de Barachêl, Bucita, y dijo: Yo soy menor de días, y vosotros viejos; he tenido por tanto miedo, y temido declararos mi opinión.
7Yo decía: Los días hablarán, y la muchedumbre de años declarará sabiduría.
8Ciertamente espíritu hay en el hombre, é inspiración del Omnipotente los hace que entiendan.
9No los grandes son los sabios, ni los viejos entienden el derecho.
10Por tanto yo dije: Escuchadme; declararé yo también mi sabiduría.
11He aquí yo he esperado á vuestras razones, he escuchado vuestros argumentos, en tanto que buscabais palabras.
12Os he pues prestado atención, y he aquí que no hay de vosotros quien redarguya á Job, y responda á sus razones.
13Porque no digáis: Nosotros hemos hallado sabiduría: lanzólo Dios, no el hombre.
14Ahora bien, Job no enderezó á mí sus palabras, ni yo le responderé con vuestras razones.
15Espantáronse, no respondieron más: fuéronseles los razonamientos.
16Yo pues he esperado, porque no hablaban, antes pararon, y no respondieron más.
17Por eso yo también responderé mi parte, también yo declararé mi juicio.
18Porque lleno estoy de palabras, y el espíritu de mi vientre me constriñe.
19De cierto mi vientre está como el vino que no tiene respiradero, y se rompe como odres nuevos.
20Hablaré pues y respiraré; abriré mis labios, y responderé.
21No haré ahora acepción de personas, ni usaré con hombre de lisonjeros títulos.
22Porque no sé hablar lisonjas: de otra manera en breve mi Hacedor me consuma.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.
6And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.
7I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.
8But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
9Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.
10Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.
11Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.
12Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:
13Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.
14Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.
16When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)
17I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
18For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
19Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.
21Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.
22For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.

1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2Then the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled against Job. His wrath was kindled because he justified himself rather than God.
3Also his wrath was kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
4Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.
5When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was kindled.
6Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered, “I am young, and you are very old. Therefore I held back, and didn’t dare show you my opinion.
7I said, ‘Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’
8But there is a spirit in man, and the Spirit of the Almighty gives them understanding.
9It is not the great who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.
10Therefore I said, ‘Listen to me; I also will show my opinion.’
11“Behold, I waited for your words, and I listened for your reasoning, while you searched out what to say.
12Yes, I gave you my full attention, but there was no one who convinced Job, or who answered his words, among you.
13Beware lest you say, ‘We have found wisdom. God may refute him, not man;’
14for he has not directed his words against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.
15“They are amazed. They answer no more. They don’t have a word to say.
16Shall I wait, because they don’t speak, because they stand still, and answer no more?
17I also will answer my part, and I also will show my opinion.
18For I am full of words. The spirit within me constrains me.
19Behold, my breast is as wine which has no vent; like new wineskins it is ready to burst.
20I will speak, that I may be refreshed. I will open my lips and answer.
21Please don’t let me respect any man’s person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.
22For I don’t know how to give flattering titles, or else my Maker would soon take me away.
