I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

Pues, ¿cuál es la porción del Dios de arriba, la heredad del Todopoderoso en las alturas?
Porque ¿qué galardón me daría de arriba Dios, y qué heredad el Omnipotente de las alturas?
For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
For what is the portion from God above, and the heritage from the Almighty on high?
Yo pensaba que la calamidad es para personas injustas, y el desastre para los hacedores de maldad.
¿No hay quebrantamiento para el impío, y extrañamiento para los que obran iniquidad?
Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, and disaster to the workers of iniquity?
¿No ve Dios mis caminos y cuenta todos mis pasos?

Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Y si he caminado con falsedad, y si mis pies se han apresurado al engaño,
Si anduve con mentira, y si mi pie se apresuró á engaño,
If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
“If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hurried to deceit
déjame ser juzgado honestamente para que Dios conozca mi integridad.
Péseme Dios en balanzas de justicia, y conocerá mi integridad.
Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.

Si mis pasos se han vuelto fuera del camino recto, si mi corazón se fue detrás de mis ojos, si alguna mancha ha contaminado mis manos,
Si mis pasos se apartaron del camino, y si mi corazón se fué tras mis ojos, y si algo se apegó á mis manos,
If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
if my step has turned out of the way, if my heart walked after my eyes, if any defilement has stuck to my hands,
entonces, déjame sembrar y permite que otro coma; de hecho que la cosecha sea arrancada de mi campo.

entonces, deja que mi esposa muela grano para otro, y deja que los otros se postren ante ella.
Muela para otro mi mujer, y sobre ella otros se encorven.
Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.

Lo que sería un terrible crimen; de hecho, sería un crimen para ser castigado por los jueces.

For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.

Si yo ignoré el pedido por justicia de parte de mi sirviente masculino o femenino cuando ellos discuteron conmigo,
Si hubiera tenido en poco el derecho de mi siervo y de mi sierva, cuando ellos pleitearan conmigo,
If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
“If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,
¿entonces, qué podré hacer cuando Dios se levante para acusarme a mí? ¿Cuándo Él venga a juzgarme, cómo le voy a contestar a Él?
¿Qué haría yo cuando Dios se levantase? y cuando él visitara, ¿qué le respondería yo?
What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

¿Acaso el que me hizo en el vientre de mi madre no los hizo a ellos tambien? ¿No fue el mismo quien nos moldeó a todos en el vientre?
El que en el vientre me hizo á mí, ¿no lo hizo á él? ¿y no nos dispuso uno mismo en la matriz?
Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

Si yo he impedido el deseo de los pobres, o he causado que los ojos de la viuda se oscurezcan de tanto llorar,
Si estorbé el contento de los pobres, é hice desfallecer los ojos de la viuda;
If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
“If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,
o si he comido mi bocado solo y no he permitido que aquellos sin padres lo puedan comer también-
Y si comí mi bocado solo, y no comió de él el huérfano;
Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;

porque desde mi infancia el huérfano creció conmigo como con un padre, y he guiado a su madre, una viuda, desde el vientre de mi madre.
(Porque desde mi mocedad creció conmigo como con padre, y desde el vientre de mi madre fuí guía de la viuda;)
(For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;)

¡Si he visto a alguien perecer por falta de ropa, o si he visto que un hombre necesitado no tenía ropa;
Si he visto que pereciera alguno sin vestido, y al menesteroso sin cobertura;
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
if I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or that the needy had no covering;
si en su corazón no me ha bendecido porque él no ha sido calentado con la lana de mis ovejas,
Si no me bendijeron sus lomos, y del vellón de mis ovejas se calentaron;
If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
if his heart hasn’t blessed me, if he hasn’t been warmed with my sheep’s fleece;
si he levantado mi mano contra personas huérfanas porque he visto mi apoyo en la puerta de la ciudad, entonces traigan cargos contra mí!
Si alcé contra el huérfano mi mano, aunque viese que me ayudarían en la puerta;
If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:

Si yo he hecho estas cosas, entonces dejen que mi hombro se caiga del omóplato, y dejen que mi brazo sea roto de su articulación.

Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.

Porque temía la destrucción por parte de Dios; por Su majestad, no fuí capaz de hacer esas cosas.
Porque temí el castigo de Dios, contra cuya alteza yo no tendría poder.
For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
For calamity from God is a terror to me. Because of his majesty, I can do nothing.
¡Si he hecho del oro mi esperanza, y si he dicho al oro fino, 'Tú eres en quien confio;'
Si puse en oro mi esperanza, y dije al oro: Mi confianza eres tú;
If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

si yo me he regocijado porque mi salud es grandiosa, porque mi mano ha obtenido muchas posesiones, entonces traigan cargos contra mí!
Si me alegré de que mi hacienda se multiplicase, y de que mi mano hallase mucho;
If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;

Si yo he visto el sol cuando brilló, o la luna caminando en su brillantez,
Si he mirado al sol cuando resplandecía, y á la luna cuando iba hermosa,
If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
if I have seen the sun when it shined, or the moon moving in splendor,
y si mi corazón ha sido secretamente atraído, de modo que mi boca ha besado mi mano en adoración a ellos-
Y mi corazón se engañó en secreto, y mi boca besó mi mano:
And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
and my heart has been secretly enticed, and my hand threw a kiss from my mouth;
esto también sería un crimen a ser castigado por los jueces, por cuánto yo he negado el Dios de las Alturas.
Esto también fuera maldad juzgada; porque habría negado al Dios soberano.
This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.

¡Si yo me he regocijado ante la destrucción de alguien que me odie o yo he sentido felicidad cuando un desastre le ha sobrevenido a él, entonces traigan cargos contra mí!
Si me alegré en el quebrantamiento del que me aborrecía, y me regocijé cuando le halló el mal;
If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
“If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him
De hecho, yo nunca he permitido que mi boca peque pidiendo que en su vida le vaya mal.
(Que ni aun entregué al pecado mi paladar, pidiendo maldición para su alma;)
Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
(I have certainly not allowed my mouth to sin by asking his life with a curse);
Si los hombres de mi carpa nunca han dicho, '¿quién puede encontrar uno que no haya sido llenado con los alimentos de Job?'
Cuando mis domésticos decían: ¡Quién nos diese de su carne! nunca nos hartaríamos.
If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
if the men of my tent have not said, ‘Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?’
(aún el extranjero nunca ha tenido que quedarse en la plaza de la ciudad, porque yo siempre he abierto mis puertas al viajero), y si eso no es así, ¡entonces traigan cargos contra mí!
El extranjero no tenía fuera la noche; mis puertas abría al caminante.
The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.
(the foreigner has not camped in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler);
Si, como la humanidad, yo he escondido mis pecados por ocultar mi culpa en mi túnica
Si encubrí, como los hombres mis prevaricaciones, escondiendo en mi seno mi iniquidad;
If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:
if like Adam I have covered my transgressions, by hiding my iniquity in my heart,
(porque tuve temor de las grandes multitudes, porque el desprecio de las familias me aterroriza, así que me quedé callado y no salí afuera), ¡entonces traigan acusaciones contra mí!
Porque quebrantaba á la gran multitud, y el menosprecio de las familias me atemorizó, y callé, y no salí de mi puerta:
Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?
because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me, so that I kept silence, and didn’t go out of the door—
¡Oh, si yo tuviera alguien que me escuche! Ves, aquí esta mi firma; deja que el Todopoderoso me conteste! ¡Si yo solo tuviera la acusación que mi oponente ha escrito!
¡Quién me diera quien me oyese! He aquí mi impresión es que el Omnipotente testificaría por mí, aunque mi adversario me hiciera el proceso.
Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
oh that I had one to hear me! Behold, here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me! Let the accuser write my indictment!
Seguramente yo lo cargaría abiertamente en mi hombro; yo me lo pondría como una corona.
Ciertamente yo lo llevaría sobre mi hombro, y me lo ataría en lugar de corona.
Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.
Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, and I would bind it to me as a crown.
Yo le declararía a Él una suma de mis pasos; como príncipe confidente yo iría a Él.

I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.

Si mi tierra siempre llora contra mí, y sus surcos lloran juntos,

If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
If my land cries out against me, and its furrows weep together;
y si he comido sus cosechas sin haber pagado por ellas o he causado que sus dueños pierdan la vida,
Si comí su sustancia sin dinero, ó afligí el alma de sus dueños;
If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
if I have eaten its fruits without money, or have caused its owners to lose their life,
entonces deja que crezcan cardos en lugar de trigo y hierba en lugar de cebada." Las palabras de Job son finales.
En lugar de trigo me nazcan abrojos, y espinas en lugar de cebada. Acábanse las palabras de Job.
