Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

"Oh, si pudiera estar como en los pasados meses cuando Dios cuidaba de mí,
¡Quién me tornase como en los meses pasados, como en los días que Dios me guardaba,
Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
“Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;
cuando Su lámpara brilló sobre mi cabeza, y cuando caminé entre la oscuridad por Su luz.
Cuando hacía resplandecer su candela sobre mi cabeza, á la luz de la cual yo caminaba en la oscuridad;
When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
¡Oh, que yo fuera como en la madurez de mis días, cuando la amistad de Dios estaba en mi carpa,
Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
as I was in my prime, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
cuando el Todopoderoso todavía estaba conmigo, y mis hijos estaban alrededor mío,
Cuando aun el Omnipotente estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí;
When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
when the Almighty was yet with me, and my children were around me,
cuando mi camino estuvo cubierto de crema, y las piedras me brotaban corrientes de aceite!
Cuando lavaba yo mis caminos con manteca, y la piedra me derramaba ríos de aceite!
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
Cuando iba a la puerta de la ciudad, cuando yo me sentaba en mi lugar en la plaza de la ciudad,
Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,
When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

los hombres jóvenes me miraban y mantenían su distancia de mí en respeto, y la gente envejecida se levantaban y se paraban por mí.
Los mozos me veían, y se escondían; y los viejos se levantaban, y estaban en pie;
The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

Los príncipes se abstenían de hablar cuando yo venía; ellos ponían sus manos sobre sus bocas.

Las voces de los nobles fueron silenciadas, y sus lenguas se pegaban al techo de sus bocas.

Pues, después que sus oidos me oían, ellos luego me bendecían; después que sus ojos me veían, luego ellos daban testimonio de mí, y me aprobaban
Cuando los oídos que me oían, me llamaban bienaventurado, y los ojos que me veían, me daban testimonio:
When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

porque yo rescaté a aquel que era pobre cuando clamó, y aquel que no tenía padre cuando no tenía quien le ayudara.
Porque libraba al pobre que gritaba, y al huérfano que carecía de ayudador.
Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

La bendición de aquel quien estaba a punto de perecer, vino a mí; yo causaba que el corazón de la viuda cantara por gozo.
La bendición del que se iba á perder venía sobre mí; y al corazón de la viuda daba alegría.
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.

Me puse justicia y me cubrió; mi justicia fue como una túnica y turbante.
Vestíame de justicia, y ella me vestía como un manto; y mi toca era juicio.

Fui ojos para personas ciegas; fui pies para personas cojas.

Fui un padre de personas con necesidad; yo examinaba el caso de personas quienes aún yo no conocía.
A los menesterosos era padre; y de la causa que no entendía, me informaba con diligencia:
I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know.
Yo quebré las quijadas de los hombres injustos. Yo le saqué a la víctima de entre sus dientes.
Y quebraba los colmillos del inicuo, y de sus dientes hacía soltar la presa.
And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
Luego dije: 'Yo moriré en mi nido; yo multiplicaré mis días como los granos de arena.
Y decía yo: En mi nido moriré, y como arena multiplicaré días.
Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.
Mis raíces están esparcidas hacia las aguas, y el rocío se encuentra toda la noche en mis ramas.
Mi raíz estaba abierta junto á las aguas, y en mis ramas permanecía el rocío.
My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
El honor en mí es siempre fresco, y el arco de mi fuerza es siempre nuevo en mi mano.'
Mi honra se renovaba en mí, y mi arco se corroboraba en mi mano.
My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’
A mí los hombres me escuchaban; ellos esperaban por mí; ellos se quedaban en silencio para escuchar mi consejo.
Oíanme, y esperaban; y callaban á mi consejo.
Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
Después que mis palabras terminaban, ellos no hablaban más; mi discurso caía como agua sobre ellos.
Tras mi palabra no replicaban, y mi razón destilaba sobre ellos.
After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
Ellos siempre esperaron por mí como ellos esperaban por la lluvia; ellos abrieron ampliamente sus bocas para beber mis palabras, como harían con la lluvia tardía.
Y esperábanme como á la lluvia, y abrían su boca como á la lluvia tardía.
And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
Yo decidía su camino y me senté como su jefe; viví como un rey en su ejército, como uno que consuela a los que sufren.
Calificaba yo el camino de ellos, y sentábame en cabecera; y moraba como rey en el ejército, como el que consuela llorosos.
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
