Job 29
Rotherham Emphasized Bible (1902)
1And Job again took up his measure, and said,
2Oh that it were with me as in the months of old, as in the days, when, GOD, used to watch over me;
3When his lamp shone over my head, by whose light, I could go through darkness;
4As I was, in the days of my prime, when, the intimacy of GOD, was over my tent;
5While yet the Almighty was with me, round about me, were my young men;
6When my steps were bathed in milk, and, the rock, poured out beside me, rivulets of oil:
7When I went out to the gate unto the city, in the open place, made ready my seat,
8Young men saw me, and hid themselves, and, the aged, arose—they stood;
9Rulers, restrained speech, and, a hand, laid they on their mouth;
10The voice of nobles, was hushed, and their tongue to their palate, did cleave;
11When, the ear, heard, then it pronounced me happy, When, the eye, saw, then it bare me witness;
12Because I used to deliver the oppressed who was crying out for aid, the fatherless also, and him that had no helper;
13The blessing of him that was ready to perish, upon me was wont to descend, and, the heart of the widow, caused I to sing for joy;
14Righteousness, I put on, and it clothed me, Like a robe and turban, was my, justice;
15Eyes, became I to the, blind, and, feet to the lame, was, I!
16A father, was, I, to the needy, and, as for the cause which I knew not, I used to search it out;
17And I shivered the fangs of the perverse,—and, out of his teeth, I tare the prey.
18Then said I, Like a stem, shall I grow old, yea, as the sand, shall I multiply days:
19My root, is laid open to the waters, and, the dew, shall lodge for the night in my boughs;
20Mine honour, shall be young again with me, and, my bow, in my hand, be renewed.
21To me, men hearkened, and waited, and kept silence for my counsel;
22After I had spoken, they spake not again, and, upon them, used my speech to drop;
23And they waited, as for rain, for me, and, their mouths, they opened wide for the spring-rain;
24I laughed at them—they lost confidence, and, the light of my countenance, they suffered not to fail;
25I chose out their way, and sat chief,—and abode, as king, in an army, as one who, to mourners, giveth comfort.

1Y VOLVIÓ Job á tomar su propósito, y dijo:
2¡Quién me tornase como en los meses pasados, como en los días que Dios me guardaba,
3Cuando hacía resplandecer su candela sobre mi cabeza, á la luz de la cual yo caminaba en la oscuridad;
4Como fué en los días de mi mocedad, cuando el secreto de Dios estaba en mi tienda;
5Cuando aun el Omnipotente estaba conmigo, y mis hijos alrededor de mí;
6Cuando lavaba yo mis caminos con manteca, y la piedra me derramaba ríos de aceite!
7Cuando salía á la puerta á juicio, y en la plaza hacía preparar mi asiento,
8Los mozos me veían, y se escondían; y los viejos se levantaban, y estaban en pie;
9Los príncipes detenían sus palabras, ponían la mano sobre su boca;
King James Version
1Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
3When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
4As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
5When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
6When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
7When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
8The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
9The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
11When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
12Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
13The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
14I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
15I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
16I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
17And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
18Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
19My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
20My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
21Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
22After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
24If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
25I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.

11For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw me, it commended me,
12because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had no one to help him,

16I was a father to the needy. I researched the cause of him whom I didn’t know.
17I broke the jaws of the unrighteous and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
18Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house, I will count my days as the sand.

20My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.’
21“Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
22After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.
23They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
24I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They didn’t reject the light of my face.
25I chose out their way, and sat as chief. I lived as a king in the army, as one who comforts the mourners.
