1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite and saide,
2Doubtlesse my thoughts cause me to answere, and therefore I make haste.
3I haue heard the correction of my reproch: therefore the spirite of mine vnderstanding causeth me to answere.
4Knowest thou not this of olde? and since God placed man vpon the earth,
5That the reioycing of the wicked is short, and that the ioy of hypocrites is but a moment?
6Though his excellencie mount vp to the heauen, and his head reache vnto the cloudes,
7Yet shall hee perish for euer, like his dung, and they which haue seene him, shall say, Where is hee?
8He shall flee away as a dreame, and they shall not finde him, and shall passe away as a vision of the night,
9So that the eye which had seene him, shall do so no more, and his place shall see him no more.
10His children shall flatter the poore, and his hands shall restore his substance.
11His bones are full of the sinne of his youth, and it shall lie downe with him in the dust.
12When wickednesse was sweete in his mouth, and he hid it vnder his tongue,
13And fauoured it, and would not forsake it, but kept it close in his mouth,
14Then his meat in his bowels was turned: the gall of Aspes was in the middes of him.
15He hath deuoured substance, and hee shall vomit it: for God shall drawe it out of his bellie.
16He shall sucke the gall of Aspes, and the vipers tongue shall slay him.
17He shall not see the riuers, nor the floods and streames of honie and butter.
18He shall restore the labour, and shall deuoure no more: euen according to the substance shalbe his exchange, and he shall enioy it no more.
19For he hath vndone many: he hath forsaken the poore, and hath spoyled houses which he builded not.
20Surely he shall feele no quietnes in his bodie, neither shall he reserue of that which he desired.
21There shall none of his meate bee left: therefore none shall hope for his goods.
22When he shalbe filled with his abundance, he shalbe in paine, and the hand of all the wicked shall assaile him.
23He shall be about to fill his belly, but God shall sende vpon him his fierce wrath, and shall cause to rayne vpon him, euen vpon his meate.
24He shall flee from the yron weapons, and the bow of steele shall strike him through.
25The arrowe is drawen out, and commeth forth of the body, and shineth of his gall, so feare commeth vpon him.
26All darkenes shalbe hid in his secret places: the fire that is not blowen, shall deuoure him, and that which remaineth in his tabernacle, shalbe destroyed.
27The heauen shall declare his wickednes, and the earth shall rise vp against him.
28The increase of his house shall go away: it shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29This is the portion of the wicked man from God, and the heritage that he shall haue of God for his wordes.

1Y RESPONDIÓ Sophar Naamathita, y dijo:
2Por cierto mis pensamientos me hacen responder, y por tanto me apresuro.
3La reprensión de mi censura he oído, y háceme responder el espíritu de mi inteligencia.
4¿No sabes esto que fué siempre, desde el tiempo que fué puesto el hombre sobre la tierra,
5Que la alegría de los impíos es breve, y el gozo del hipócrita por un momento?
6Si subiere su altivez hasta el cielo, y su cabeza tocare en las nubes,
7Con su estiércol perecerá para siempre: los que le hubieren visto, dirán: ¿Qué es de él?
8Como sueño volará, y no será hallado: y disiparáse como visión nocturna.
9El ojo que le habrá visto, nunca más le verá; ni su lugar le echará más de ver.
10Sus hijos pobres andarán rogando; y sus manos tornarán lo que él robó.
11Sus huesos están llenos de sus mocedades, y con él serán sepultados en el polvo.
12Si el mal se endulzó en su boca, si lo ocultaba debajo de su lengua;
13Si le parecía bien, y no lo dejaba, mas antes lo detenía entre su paladar;
14Su comida se mudará en sus entrañas, hiel de áspides será dentro de él.
15Devoró riquezas, mas vomitarálas; de su vientre las sacará Dios.
16Veneno de áspides chupará; matarálo lengua de víbora.
17No verá los arroyos, los ríos, los torrentes de miel y de manteca.
18Restituirá el trabajo conforme á la hacienda que tomó; y no tragará, ni gozará.
19Por cuanto quebrantó y desamparó á los pobres, robó casas, y no las edificó;
20Por tanto, no sentirá él sosiego en su vientre, ni salvará nada de lo que codiciaba.
21No quedó nada que no comiese: por tanto su bien no será durable.
22Cuando fuere lleno su bastimento, tendrá angustia: las manos todas de los malvados vendrán sobre él.
23Cuando se pusiere á henchir su vientre, Dios enviará sobre él el furor de su ira, y harála llover sobre él y sobre su comida.
24Huirá de las armas de hierro, y el arco de acero le atravesará.
25Desenvainará y sacará saeta de su aljaba, y relumbrante pasará por su hiel: sobre él vendrán terrores.
26Todas tinieblas están guardadas para sus secretos: fuego no soplado lo devorará; su sucesor será quebrantado en su tienda.
27Los cielos descubrirán su iniquidad, y la tierra se levantará contra él.
28Los renuevos de su casa serán trasportados; serán derramados en el día de su furor.
29Esta es la parte que Dios apareja al hombre impío, y la heredad que Dios le señala por su palabra.

1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.
3I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
6Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;

15He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
17He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
19Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
24He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.

1Then Zophar the Naamathite answered,
2“Therefore my thoughts answer me, even by reason of my haste that is in me.
3I have heard the reproof which puts me to shame. The spirit of my understanding answers me.
4Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,
5that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?
6Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds,
7yet he will perish forever like his own dung. Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’
8He will fly away as a dream, and will not be found. Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.
9The eye which saw him will see him no more, neither will his place see him any more.
10His children will seek the favor of the poor. His hands will give back his wealth.
11His bones are full of his youth, but youth will lie down with him in the dust.
12“Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue,
13though he spare it, and will not let it go, but keep it still within his mouth,
14yet his food in his bowels is turned. It is cobra venom within him.
15He has swallowed down riches, and he will vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly.
16He will suck cobra venom. The viper’s tongue will kill him.
17He will not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter.
18He will restore that for which he labored, and will not swallow it down. He will not rejoice according to the substance that he has gotten.
19For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he will not build it up.
20“Because he knew no quietness within him, he will not save anything of that in which he delights.
21There was nothing left that he didn’t devour, therefore his prosperity will not endure.
22In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress will overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery will come on him.
23When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.
24He will flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow will strike him through.
25He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.
26All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire will devour him. It will consume that which is left in his tent.
27The heavens will reveal his iniquity. The earth will rise up against him.
28The increase of his house will depart. They will rush away in the day of his wrath.
29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.”
