"¿Debe un hombre sabio responder con conocimiento inútil y llenarse a sí mismo con el viento del este?
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
¿Debe razonar él con habladurías sin sentido o con discursos con los cuales no puede hacer ningún bien?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
En efecto, tú disminuyes el respeto hacia Dios; tú obstruyes la devoción hacia Él,
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
pues tu iniquidad le enseña a tu boca; tú escoges tener la lengua de un hombre astuto.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Tu propia boca te condena, no la mía; de hecho, tus propios labios testifican en tu contra.
Tu boca te condenará, y no yo; y tus labios testificarán contra ti.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
¿Eres tú el primer hombre que nació? ¿Fuiste traído a existencia antes que los montes?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
¿Has escuchado el conocimiento secreto de Dios? ¿Limitas la sabiduría a ti mismo?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
¿Qué sabes tú que nosotros no sabemos? ¿Qué entiendes tú que no está también en nosotros?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Con nosotros están ambos, los hombres de cabellera gris y los de mucha edad, quienes son mucho más viejos que tu padre.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than your father.
¿Son las consolaciones de Dios demasiado pequeñas para ti, las palabras que son tiernas para contigo?
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
¿Porqué te arrebata tu corazón? ¿Porqué tus ojos destellan,
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
para que tú tornes tu espíritu contra Dios y salgan tales palabras de tu boca?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
¿Qué es el hombre para que deba ser limpio? ¿Qué es aquel quién es nacido de mujer para que deba ser justo?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
¡Ves, Dios no pone confianza ni aún en Sus santos; de hecho, los cielos no están limpios a Su vista;
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
cuán menos limpio es uno que es abominable y corrupto, un hombre que bebe iniquidad como agua!
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
Yo te mostraré; escúchame; Yo te anunciaré las cosas que Yo he visto,
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
las cosas que hombres sabios han pasado de sus padres, las cosas que sus ancestros no escondieron.
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
(which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;
Estos eran sus ancestros, a quienes solamente se les dio la tierra, y entre los cuales ningún extraño pasó nunca.
A los cuales solos fué dada la tierra, y no pasó extraño por medio de ellos:)
Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

El hombre malvado se retuerce en su dolor todos sus días, el número de años que son añadidos para que el opresor sufra.
Todos los días del impío, él es atormentado de dolor, y el número de años es escondido al violento.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
El sonido de terrores está en sus oídos; mientras él está en prosperidad, el destructor vendrá sobre él.
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Él no piensa que él regresará de la oscuridad; la espada espera por él.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Él va a varios lugares por pan, diciendo: '¿Donde está?' Él sabe que el día de oscuridad está cerca.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Ansiedad y angustia le hacen temer; ellos prevalecen en contra de él, como un rey listo para la batalla.
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Porque él ha extendido su mano contra Dios y se ha conducido arrogantemente en contra del Todopoderoso,
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
este hombre malvado corre hacia Dios con un cuello rígido, con un escudo grueso.
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
Esto es verdad, aunque él ha cubierto su rostro con su grosura y juntó grasa en sus lomos,
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
y ha vivido en ciudades desoladas; en casas en las cuales ningún hombre habita ahora y que estaban listas para convertirse en ruinas.
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
Él no será rico; su riqueza no durará; ni siquiera su sombra durará en la tierra.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
Él no saldrá de la oscuridad; una llama secará sus tallos; al aliento de la boca de Dios él se irá.
No se escapará de las tinieblas: la llama secará sus ramos, y con el aliento de su boca perecerá.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
Que no confíe en cosas vanas, engañándose a sí mismo, pues, la vanidad será su recompensa.
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
Ocurrirá antes de que deba llegar su tiempo para morir; su rama no estará verde.
El será cortado antes de su tiempo, y sus renuevos no reverdecerán.
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
It will be accomplished before his time. His branch will not be green.
El dejará caer sus uvas verdes como una vid; el sacudirá sus flores como a un árbol de olivo.

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Pues la compañia de personas impías será estéril; el fuego consumirá sus tiendas de soborno.
Porque la sociedad de los hipócritas será asolada, y fuego consumirá las tiendas de soborno.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
Ellos conciben malicia y dan a luz iniquidad; su vientre concibe engaño."
Concibieron dolor, y parieron iniquidad; y las entrañas de ellos meditan engaño.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
They conceive mischief and produce iniquity. Their heart prepares deceit.”
