Un uomo saggio risponderebbe egli forse parlando in aria, e accenderebbe di calore il suo petto?
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
Tu colle tue parole fai de' rimproveri a lui, che non è un tuo eguale, e parli in guisa, che non gioverà a te.
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Quant'è in te, tu hai discacciato il timore (di Dio), ed hai tolta via l'orazione, che si fa a Dio.
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
Perocché maestra della tua lingua è stata la tua iniquità, e tu vai imitando il linguaggio de' bestemmiatori.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Ti condannerà la tua bocca, e non io, e risponderanno a te le tue labbra.
Tu boca te condenará, y no yo; y tus labios testificarán contra ti.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Se' tu forse il primo uomo che nascesse, e se' tu stato formato prima de' monti?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
Se' tu forse stato ad udire i consiglj di Dio, e la sapienza di lui sarà ella inferiore a te?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Sai tu qualche cosa ignota a noi? Hai tu qualche sapere, che noi non abbiamo?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Sono de' vecchi, e degli anziani tra noi molto più avanzati in età che i padri tuoi.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Sarebbe ella cosa difficile a Dio il consolarti? Ma ciò impediscono le tue cattive parole.
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Perché ti leva in alto il cuor tuo, qual uomo che sta in grandi pensieri gli occhi porti smarriti?
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
Perché mai il tuo spirito si inalbera contro Dio sino a proferire colla tua bocca sì fatte parole?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
Che è l'uomo onde possa essere senza macchia, e giusto apparisca un che nacque di donna?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Mira come tra' santi di lui nissuno è immutabile, e i cieli negli occhi di lui non son puri.
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Quanto meno un uom feccioso, e abbominevole, che beve com'acqua l'iniquità?
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
Io ti convincerò, ascoltami: racconterò a te quello, che io ho veduto.
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
I saggi parlano, e non tengono ascosi gli insegnamenti de' padri loro.
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

A' quali soli data fu questa terra, e mai gli stranieri non passarono tra di loro.
A los cuales solos fué dada la tierra, y no pasó extraño por medio de ellos:)

L'empio si consuma di affanni in tutti i suoi giorni, perché è incerto quanti saranno gli anni di sua tirannide.
Todos los días del impío, él es atormentado de dolor, y el número de años es escondido al violento.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
Egli ha mai sempre nell'orecchie uno strepito che atterrisce, e in mezzo alla pace sospetta di tradimento.
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Nel buio non crede di tornar a vederla luce, veggendo spade da tutti i lati.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
S'ei si muove per andar a cercar del pane, egli pensa, che il nero giorno imminente gli sta dappresso.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
La tribolazione lo atterrisce, e lo circondano gli affanni, come un re, che si mette in punto per la battaglia.
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Perocché egli sua mano stese contro Dio, e si indurò contro l'Onnipotente.
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
Contro a lui corse a collo interato, e si armò della sua grossa testa.
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
Egli ha la faccia coperta di grasso, e da' fianchi di lui pende il lardo.
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
Si è ridotto ad abitare in città desolate, e in case deserte divenute tanti mucchi di sassi.
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
Egli non sarà sempre ricco, e i suoi beni non dureranno, e non metterà radici nella terra.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
Ei sarà sempre in tenebre, i suoi rami saranno arsi dal fuoco, ed esalando il fiato della sua bocca sparirà.
No se escapará de las tinieblas: la llama secará sus ramos, y con el aliento de su boca perecerá.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
Né da vano errore sedotto crederà di poter essere riscattato a qual si sia prezzo.
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
Prima che i giorni di lui giungano al loro termine ei perirà, e seccheranno le sue mani.

Perocché steril sarà la progenie dell'empio, e il fuoco divorerà i padiglioni di coloro, che volentieri accettano i doni.
Porque la sociedad de los hipócritas será asolada, y fuego consumirá las tiendas de soborno.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
Concepisce dolori, e partorisce l'iniquità, e il seno di lui è gravido di fraudi. Giobbe commosso dall'autorità degli amici piange i suoi dolori, e dimostra la grandezza di sua miseria, e com'ei patisce senza essere iniquo, della qual cosa dice essere Dio consapevole.
Concibieron dolor, y parieron iniquidad; y las entrañas de ellos meditan engaño.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
