Job 12

1Then Iob answered, and sayde,
2In deede because that ye are the people onely, wisedome must dye with you.
3But I haue vnderstanding aswel as you, and am not inferior vnto you: yea, who knoweth not such things?
4I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth vpon God, and he heareth him: the iust and the vpright is laughed to scorne.
5Hee that is readie to fall, is as a lampe despised in the opinion of the riche.
6The tabernacles of robbers doe prosper, and they are in safetie, that prouoke God, whome God hath enriched with his hand.
7Aske now the beasts, and they shall teach thee, and the foules of the heauen, and they shall tell thee:
8Or speake to the earth, and it shall shewe thee: or the fishes of the sea, and they shall declare vnto thee.
9Who is ignorant of all these, but that the hande of the Lord hath made these?
10In whose hande is the soule of euery liuing thing, and the breath of all mankinde.
11Doeth not the eares discerne the words? and the mouth taste meate for it selfe?
12Among the ancient is wisedome, and in the length of dayes is vnderstanding.
13With him is wisedome and strength: he hath counsell and vnderstanding.
14Beholde, he will breake downe, and it can not be built: he shutteth a man vp, and he can not be loosed.
15Beholde, he withholdeth the waters, and they drie vp: but when he sendeth them out, they destroy the earth.
16With him is strength and wisedome: hee that is deceiued, and that deceiueth, are his.
17He causeth the counsellers to goe as spoyled, and maketh the iudges fooles.
18He looseth the collar of Kings, and girdeth their loynes with a girdle.
19He leadeth away the princes as a pray, and ouerthroweth the mightie.
20He taketh away the speach from the faithfull counsellers, and taketh away the iudgement of the ancient.
21He powreth contempt vpon princes, and maketh the strength of the mightie weake.
22He discouereth the deepe places from their darkenesse, and bringeth foorth the shadowe of death to light.
23He increaseth the people, and destroyeth them: he inlargeth the nations, and bringeth them in againe.
24He taketh away the heartes of the that are the chiefe ouer the people of the earth, and maketh them to wander in the wildernes out of the way.
25They grope in the darke without light: and he maketh the to stagger like a drunken man.

1Y RESPONDIÓ Job, y dijo:
2Ciertamente que vosotros sois el pueblo; y con vosotros morirá la sabiduría.
3También tengo yo seso como vosotros; no soy yo menos que vosotros: ¿y quién habrá que no pueda decir otro tanto?
4Yo soy uno de quien su amigo se mofa, que invoca á Dios, y él le responde: con todo, el justo y perfecto es escarnecido.
5Aquel cuyos pies van á resbalar, es como una lámpara despreciada de aquel que está á sus anchuras.
6Prosperan las tiendas de los ladrones, y los que provocan á Dios viven seguros; en cuyas manos él ha puesto cuanto tienen.
7Y en efecto, pregunta ahora á las bestias, que ellas te enseñarán; y á las aves de los cielos, que ellas te lo mostrarán:
8O habla á la tierra, que ella te enseñará; los peces de la mar te lo declararán también.
9¿Qué cosa de todas estas no entiende que la mano de Jehová la hizo?
10En su mano está el alma de todo viviente, y el espíritu de toda carne humana.
11Ciertamente el oído distingue las palabras, y el paladar gusta las viandas.
12En los viejos está la ciencia, y en la larga edad la inteligencia.
13Con Dios está la sabiduría y la fortaleza; suyo es el consejo y la inteligencia.
14He aquí, él derribará, y no será edificado: encerrará al hombre, y no habrá quien le abra.
15He aquí, él detendrá las aguas, y se secarán; él las enviará, y destruirán la tierra.
16Con él está la fortaleza y la existencia; suyo es el que yerra, y el que hace errar.
17El hace andar á los consejeros desnudos de consejo, y hace enloquecer á los jueces.
18El suelta la atadura de los tiranos, y ata el cinto á sus lomos.
19El lleva despojados á los príncipes, y trastorna á los poderosos.
20El impide el labio á los que dicen verdad, y quita á los ancianos el consejo.
21El derrama menosprecio sobre los príncipes, y enflaquece la fuerza de los esforzados.
22El descubre las profundidades de las tinieblas, y saca á luz la sombra de muerte.
23El multiplica las gentes, y él las destruye: él esparce las gentes, y las torna á recoger.
24El quita el seso de las cabezas del pueblo de la tierra, y háceles que se pierdan vagueando sin camino:
25Van á tientas como en tinieblas y sin luz, y los hace errar como borrachos.

1And Job answered and said,
2No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

5He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
7But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

1Then Job answered,
2“No doubt, but you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.
3But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Yes, who doesn’t know such things as these?
4I am like one who is a joke to his neighbor, I, who called on God, and he answered. The just, the blameless man is a joke.
5In the thought of him who is at ease there is contempt for misfortune. It is ready for them whose foot slips.
6The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.
7“But ask the animals now, and they will teach you; the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
8Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you. The fish of the sea will declare to you.
9Who doesn’t know that in all these, the LORD’s hand has done this,
10in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?
11Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?
12With aged men is wisdom, in length of days understanding.
13“With God is wisdom and might. He has counsel and understanding.
14Behold, he breaks down, and it can’t be built again. He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.
15Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.
16With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.
17He leads counselors away stripped. He makes judges fools.
18He loosens the bond of kings. He binds their waist with a belt.
19He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty.
20He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.
21He pours contempt on princes, and loosens the belt of the strong.
22He uncovers deep things out of darkness, and brings out to light the shadow of death.
23He increases the nations, and he destroys them. He enlarges the nations, and he leads them captive.
24He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
25They grope in the dark without light. He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
