Entonces Zofar el naamatita contestó y dijo:
Y RESPONDIÓ Sophar Naamathita, y dijo:
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,
"¿No debería tal multitud de palabras ser contestada? ¿Debería este hombre, tan lleno de palabras, ser creído?
¿Las muchas palabras no han de tener respuesta? ¿y el hombre parlero será justificado?
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?
¿Debería tu jactancia hacer que otros permanezcan en silencio? Cuando te burlas de nuestras enseñanzas, ¿nadie hará que te sientas avergonzado?
¿Harán tus falacias callar á los hombres? ¿y harás escarnio, y no habrá quien te avergüence?
Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?
Pues le dices a Dios: 'Mis creencias son puras, soy sin culpa ante Tus ojos.'
Tú dices: Mi conversar es puro, y yo soy limpio delante de tus ojos.
For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’
Oh, pero si Dios hablara y abriera Sus labios en contra de ti;
Mas ¡oh quién diera que Dios hablara, y abriera sus labios contigo,
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,
¡que te enseñara los secretos de la sabiduría! Pues Él es grande en entendimiento. Conoce entonces, que Dios demanda de ti menos de lo que tu iniquidad merece.
Y que te declarara los arcanos de la sabiduría, que son de doble valor que la hacienda! Conocerías entonces que Dios te ha castigado menos que tu iniquidad merece.
And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
¿Puedes entender a Dios buscándolo? ¿Puedes comprender al Todopoderoso perfectamente?
¿Alcanzarás tú el rastro de Dios? ¿llegarás tú á la perfección del Todopoderoso?
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
El asunto es tan alto como el cielo; ¿que puedes hacer tú? Es más profundo que el Seol; ¿que puedes saber tú?
Es más alto que los cielos: ¿qué harás? Es más profundo que el infierno: ¿cómo lo conocerás?
It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?
Su medida es más largo que la tierra, y más ancho que el mar.
Su dimensión es más larga que la tierra, y más ancha que la mar.
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Si Él pasa y calla a cualquiera, si Él llama a juicio a cualquiera, entonces ¿quién lo puede detener?
Si cortare, ó encerrare, ó juntare, ¿quién podrá contrarrestarle?
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
Pues Él conoce a la gente falsa; ¿cuando Él ve iniquidad, no la nota?
Porque él conoce á los hombres vanos: ve asimismo la iniquidad, ¿y no hará caso?
For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.
Pero la gente tonta no tiene entendimiento; ellos lo tenderán cuando un burro salvaje dé a luz a un hombre.
El hombre vano se hará entendido, aunque nazca como el pollino del asno montés.
For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass’s colt.
An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.
Pero supón que hubieras puesto tu corazón en el lugar correcto y hubieras estirado tus manos hacia Dios;
Si tú apercibieres tu corazón, y extendieres á él tus manos;
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.
supón que la iniquidad estuviera en tu mano, pero que entonces la pones muy lejos de ti, y no permitiste que la injusticia viviera en tus tiendas.
Si alguna iniquidad hubiere en tu mano, y la echares de ti, y no consintieres que more maldad en tus habitaciones;
If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.
Entonces seguramente levantarías tu rostro sin un signo de vergüenza; en efecto, estarías firme y no temerías.
Entonces levantarás tu rostro limpio de mancha, y serás fuerte y no temerás:
For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,
Olvidarías tu miseria; la recordarías solo como aguas que han fluído y se fueron.
Y olvidarás tu trabajo, ó te acordarás de él como de aguas que pasaron:
Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.
Tu vida sería más brillante que el mediodía; aunque hubiese oscuridad, se convertiría como la mañana.
Y en mitad de la siesta se levantará bonanza; resplandecerás, y serás como la mañana:
And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.
Tú estarías seguro porque hay esperanza; en efecto, encontrarías seguridad alrededor de ti y tomarías tu descanso en seguridad.
Y confiarás, que habrá esperanza; y cavarás, y dormirás seguro:
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.
También te acostarías en descanso, y nadie te asustaría; de hecho, muchos buscarían tu favor.
Y te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante: y muchos te rogarán.
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.
Pero los ojos de la gente malvada fallarán; no tendrán manera de escapar; su única esperanza será un último suspiro de vida.
Mas los ojos de los malos se consumirán, y no tendrán refugio; y su esperanza será agonía del alma.
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
