Job 11

Ma Sophar di Naamath rispose, e disse:

Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

Forse colui, che mollo discorre non avrà ancor da ascoltare? Od un gran parlatore sarà dichiarato giusto?

¿Las muchas palabras no han de tener respuesta? ¿y el hombre parlero será justificado?

Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?

“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?

Tu solo farai tacer gli uomini? E dopo avere scherniti gli altri da nissuno sarai confutato?

¿Harán tus falacias callar á los hombres? ¿y harás escarnio, y no habrá quien te avergüence?

Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?

Perocché tu hai detto: La mia dottrina è pura, ed io son mondo negli occhi tuoi.

Tú dices: Mi conversar es puro, y yo soy limpio delante de tus ojos.

For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’

Così volesse Dio parlare egli con te, e aprir con te la sua bocca:

Mas ¡oh quién diera que Dios hablara, y abriera sus labios contigo,

But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,

Per svelarti i segreti di sua sapienza, e come moltiplice è la sua legge, onde tu comprendessi come molto meno egli esige da te di quel, che si meriti la tua ingiustizia.

Y que te declarara los arcanos de la sabiduría, que son de doble valor que la hacienda! Conocerías entonces que Dios te ha castigado menos que tu iniquidad merece.

And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

Forse tu scoprirai gli andamenti di Dio, e intenderai perfettamente l'Onnipotente?

¿Alcanzarás tú el rastro de Dios? ¿llegarás tú á la perfección del Todopoderoso?

Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

Egli è più alto del cielo, e che farai tu? egli è più profondo che non è l'inferno, e come potrai conoscerlo?

Es más alto que los cielos: ¿qué harás? Es más profundo que el infierno: ¿cómo lo conocerás?

It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?

Egli è di misura più estesa, che non è la terra, e più ampio del mare.

Su dimensión es más larga que la tierra, y más ancha que la mar.

The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

S'ei metterà sossopra tutte le cose, o le confonderà tutte insieme, chi a lui si opporrà?

Si cortare, ó encerrare, ó juntare, ¿quién podrá contrarrestarle?

If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?

If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?

Or ei conosce la vanità de'mortali, e veggendo la loro iniquità non ne farà egli conto?

Porque él conoce á los hombres vanos: ve asimismo la iniquidad, ¿y no hará caso?

For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?

For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.

L'uomo stolto si leva in superbia, e qual asinello salvatico si crede nato per non aver freno.

El hombre vano se hará entendido, aunque nazca como el pollino del asno montés.

For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass’s colt.

An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.

Ma tu ti se' indurato in cuor tuo, ed hai stese le mani verso di lui.

Si tú apercibieres tu corazón, y extendieres á él tus manos;

If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;

“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.

Se rimoverai da te l'iniquità delle tue mani, e se scevra d'ingiustizia rimarrà la tua casa:

Si alguna iniquidad hubiere en tu mano, y la echares de ti, y no consintieres que more maldad en tus habitaciones;

If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.

Allora essendo senza macola potrai alzar la tua faccia, ed avrai fermo stato senza timori.

Entonces levantarás tu rostro limpio de mancha, y serás fuerte y no temerás:

For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,

E ti scorderai della tua stessa miseria, o te ne ricorderai, come di una piena di acque che già passarono.

Y olvidarás tu trabajo, ó te acordarás de él como de aguas que pasaron:

Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:

for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.

E spunterà a te sulla sera una luce, come di mezzogiorno, e quando ti crederai distrutto sorgerai, come la stella della mattina.

Y en mitad de la siesta se levantará bonanza; resplandecerás, y serás como la mañana:

And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.

E nella tua espettazione riporrai e tua fidanza, e sepolto dormirai tranquillamente.

Y confiarás, que habrá esperanza; y cavarás, y dormirás seguro:

And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.

Riposerai, e non sarà chi ti rechi, terrore, e moltissimi a te porgeranno preghiere.

Y te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante: y muchos te rogarán.

Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.

Ma si seccheranno gli occhi degli empj, i quali non troveranno scampo; e le loro speranze saranno in abominio all'anima loro. Giobbe per confondere la giattanza degli amici dice, che a nissuno è ignota la potenza, e sapienza di Dio nel governo delle creature, lo stato delle quali egli varia a suo talento.

Mas los ojos de los malos se consumirán, y no tendrán refugio; y su esperanza será agonía del alma.

But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
