1Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott.
2Dieses war im Anfang bei Gott.
3Alles ist durch dasselbe entstanden; und ohne dasselbe ist auch nicht eines entstanden, was entstanden ist.
4In ihm war Leben, und das Leben war das Licht der Menschen.
5Und das Licht leuchtet in der Finsternis, und die Finsternis hat es nicht begriffen.
6Es wurde ein Mensch von Gott gesandt, der hieß Johannes.
7Dieser kam zum Zeugnis, um zu zeugen von dem Licht, damit alle durch ihn glaubten.
8Nicht er war das Licht, sondern er sollte zeugen von dem Licht.
9Das wahrhaftige Licht, welches jeden Menschen erleuchtet, sollte in die Welt kommen.
10Es war in der Welt, und die Welt ist durch ihn geworden, aber die Welt erkannte ihn nicht.
11Er kam in sein Eigentum, und die Seinen nahmen ihn nicht auf.
12Allen denen aber, die ihn aufnahmen, gab er Vollmacht, Gottes Kinder zu werden, denen, die an seinen Namen glauben;
13welche nicht aus dem Geblüt, noch aus dem Willen des Fleisches, noch aus dem Willen des Mannes, sondern aus Gott geboren sind.
14Und das Wort ward Fleisch und wohnte unter uns; und wir sahen seine Herrlichkeit, eine Herrlichkeit als des Eingeborenen vom Vater, voller Gnade und Wahrheit.
15Johannes zeugte von ihm, rief und sprach: Dieser war es, von dem ich sagte: Der nach mir kommt, ist vor mir gewesen, denn er war eher als ich.
16Und aus seiner Fülle haben wir alle empfangen Gnade um Gnade.
17Denn das Gesetz wurde durch Mose gegeben; die Gnade und die Wahrheit ist durch Jesus Christus geworden.
18Niemand hat Gott je gesehen; der eingeborene Sohn, der im Schoße des Vaters ist, der hat uns Aufschluß über ihn gegeben.
19Und dies ist das Zeugnis des Johannes, als die Juden von Jerusalem Priester und Leviten sandten, um ihn zu fragen: Wer bist du?
20Und er bekannte und leugnete nicht; und er bekannte: Ich bin nicht der Christus!
21Und sie fragten ihn: Was denn? Bist du Elia? Er sprach: Ich bin's nicht! Bist du der Prophet? Er antwortete: Nein!
22Nun sprachen sie zu ihm: Wer bist du denn? damit wir denen Antwort geben, die uns gesandt haben. Was sagst du über dich selbst?
23Er sprach: Ich bin «eine Stimme, die da ruft in der Wüste: Ebnet den Weg des Herrn!» wie der Prophet Jesaja gesagt hat.
24Sie waren aber von den Pharisäern abgesandt.
25Und sie fragten ihn und sprachen zu ihm: Warum taufst du denn, wenn du nicht der Christus bist, noch Elia, noch der Prophet?
26Johannes antwortete ihnen und sprach: Ich taufe mit Wasser; aber mitten unter euch steht Einer, den ihr nicht kennt,
27welcher nach mir kommt, der doch vor mir gewesen ist, für den ich nicht würdig bin, ihm den Schuhriemen zu lösen.
28Dieses geschah zu Bethabara, jenseits des Jordan, wo Johannes taufte.
29Am folgenden Tage sieht Johannes Jesus auf sich zukommen und spricht: Siehe, das Lamm Gottes, welches die Sünde der Welt hinwegnimmt!
30Das ist der, von welchem ich sagte: Nach mir kommt ein Mann, der vor mir gewesen ist; denn er war eher als ich.
31Und ich kannte ihn nicht; aber damit er Israel offenbar würde, darum kam ich, mit Wasser zu taufen.
32Und Johannes zeugte und sprach: Ich sah den Geist wie eine Taube vom Himmel herabsteigen und auf ihm bleiben.
33Und ich kannte ihn nicht; aber der mich sandte, mit Wasser zu taufen, der sprach zu mir: Auf welchen du den Geist herabsteigen und auf ihm bleiben siehst, der ist's, der im heiligen Geiste tauft.
34Und ich habe es gesehen und bezeuge, daß dieser der Sohn Gottes ist.
35Am folgenden Tage stand Johannes wiederum da und zwei seiner Jünger.
36Und indem er auf Jesus blickte, der vorüberwandelte, sprach er: Siehe, das Lamm Gottes!
37Und die beiden Jünger hörten ihn reden und folgten Jesus nach.
38Da aber Jesus sich umwandte und sie nachfolgen sah, sprach er zu ihnen: Was sucht ihr? Sie sprachen zu ihm: Rabbi (das heißt übersetzt: Lehrer), wo wohnst du?
39Er spricht zu ihnen: Kommt und seht! Sie kamen und sahen, wo er wohnte, und blieben jenen Tag bei ihm. Es war aber um die zehnte Stunde.
40Andreas, der Bruder des Simon Petrus, war einer von den zweien, die es von Johannes gehört hatten und ihm nachgefolgt waren.
41Dieser findet zuerst seinen Bruder Simon und spricht zu ihm: Wir haben den Messias gefunden (das heißt übersetzt: den Gesalbten).
42Und er führte ihn zu Jesus. Jesus aber sah ihn an und sprach: Du bist Simon, Jonas Sohn, du sollst Kephas heißen (das wird übersetzt: Fels).
43Am folgenden Tage wollte Jesus nach Galiläa reisen; und er findet Philippus und spricht zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
44Philippus aber war von Bethsaida, aus der Stadt des Andreas und Petrus.
45Philippus findet den Nathanael und spricht zu ihm: Wir haben den gefunden, von welchem Mose im Gesetz und die Propheten geschrieben haben, Jesus, den Sohn Josephs, von Nazareth.
46Und Nathanael sprach zu ihm: Kann aus Nazareth etwas Gutes kommen? Philippus spricht zu ihm: Komm und sieh!
47Jesus sah den Nathanael auf sich zukommen und spricht von ihm: Siehe, wahrhaftig ein Israelit, in welchem keine Falschheit ist!
48Nathanael spricht zu ihm: Woher kennst du mich? Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Ehe dich Philippus rief, als du unter dem Feigenbaum warst, sah ich dich!
49Nathanael antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Rabbi, du bist der Sohn Gottes, du bist der König von Israel!
50Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Du glaubst, weil ich dir sagte, daß ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum sah! Du wirst Größeres sehen als das!
51Und er spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, von nun an werdet ihr den Himmel offen sehen und die Engel Gottes auf und niedersteigen auf des Menschen Sohn!

5Y la luz en las tinieblas resplandece; mas las tinieblas no la comprendieron.
6Fué un hombre enviado de Dios, el cual se llamaba Juan.
7Este vino por testimonio, para que diese testimonio de la luz, para que todos creyesen por él.
8No era él la luz, sino para que diese testimonio de la luz.
9Aquél era la luz verdadera, que alumbra á todo hombre que viene á este mundo.
10En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fué hecho por él; y el mundo no le conoció.
11A lo suyo vino, y los suyos no le recibieron.
12Mas á todos los que le recibieron, dióles potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios, á los que creen en su nombre:
13Los cuales no son engendrados de sangre, ni de voluntad de carne, ni de voluntad de varón, mas de Dios.
14Y aquel Verbo fué hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros (y vimos su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre), lleno de gracia y de verdad.
15Juan dió testimonio de él, y clamó diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene tras mí, es antes de mí: porque es primero que yo.
16Porque de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.
17Porque la ley por Moisés fué dada: mas la gracia y la verdad por Jesucristo fué hecha.
18A Dios nadie le vió jamás: el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le declaró.
19Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?
20Y confesó, y no negó; mas declaró: No soy yo el Cristo.
21Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.
22Dijéronle: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta á los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
23Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.
24Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.
25Y preguntáronle, y dijéronle: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?
26Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros ha estado á quien vosotros no conocéis.
27Este es el que ha de venir tras mí, el cual es antes de mí: del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.
28Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.
29El siguiente día ve Juan á Jesús que venía á él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.
30Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí: porque era primero que yo.
31Y yo no le conocía; más para que fuese manifestado á Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.
32Y Juan dió testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.
33Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió á bautizar con agua, aquél me dijo: Sobre quien vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu Santo.
34Y yo le vi, y he dado testimonio que éste es el Hijo de Dios.
35El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos.
36Y mirando á Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios.
37Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron á Jesús.
38Y volviéndose Jesús, y viéndolos seguirle, díceles: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabbí (que declarado quiere decir Maestro) ¿dónde moras?
39Díceles: Venid y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba, y quedáronse con él aquel día: porque era como la hora de las diez.
40Era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído de Juan, y le habían seguido.
41Este halló primero á su hermano Simón, y díjole: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que declarado es, el Cristo).
42Y le trajo á Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Cephas (que quiere decir, Piedra).
43El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir á Galilea, y halla á Felipe, al cual dijo: Sígueme.
44Y era Felipe de Bethsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.
45Felipe halló á Natanael, y dícele: Hemos hallado á aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: á Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret.
46Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve.
47Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.
48Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi.
49Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.
50Respondió Jesús y díjole: ¿Porque te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que éstas verás.
51Y dícele: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

15John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
19And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
20And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
22Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
24And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
25And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
26John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
27He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
28These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
39He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
43The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

6There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
8He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.
9The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.
11He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.
12But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”

18No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.
19This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
20He declared, and didn’t deny, but he declared, “I am not the Christ.”
21They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”
22They said therefore to him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
23He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
24The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.
25They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”
26John answered them, “I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don’t know.
27He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”
28These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’
31I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”
32John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.
33I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’
34I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
35Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,
36and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”
37The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
39He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
40One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).
42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).
43On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”
44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
48Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”
50Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”
51He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
