Nel principio era il Verbo, e il Verbo era appresso Dio, e il Verbo era Dio.

Per mezzo di lui furon fatte le cose tutte: e senza di lui nulla fu fatto di ciò, che è stato fatto.

In lui era la vita, e la vita era la luce degli uomini:

E la luce splende tra le tenebre, e le tenebre non la hanno ammessa.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.

Vi fu un uomo mandato da Dio, che chiamavasi Giovanni.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

Questi venne qual testimone, affin di render testimonianza alla luce, onde per mezzo di lui tutti credessero:

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

Ei non era la luce; ma era per rendere testimonianza alla luce.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Quegli era la luce vera, che illumina ogni uomo, che viene in questo mondo.

Aquél era la luz verdadera, que alumbra á todo hombre que viene á este mundo.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

Egli era nel mondo, e il mondo per lui fu fatto, e il mondo nol conobbe.

En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fué hecho por él; y el mundo no le conoció.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.

Venne nella sua propria casa, e i suoi nol ricevettero.

A lo suyo vino, y los suyos no le recibieron.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

Ma a tutti que', che lo ricevettero, die' potere di diventar figliuoli di Dio, a quelli che credono nel suo nome:

Mas á todos los que le recibieron, dióles potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios, á los que creen en su nombre:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

I quali non per via di sangue, nè per volontà della carne, nè per volontà d'uomo, ma da Dio sono nati.

Los cuales no son engendrados de sangre, ni de voluntad de carne, ni de voluntad de varón, mas de Dios.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

E il Verbo si è fatto carne, e abitò tra noi: e abbiamo veduto la sua gloria, gloria come dell'Unigenito del Padre, pieno di grazia, e di verità,

Y aquel Verbo fué hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros (y vimos su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre), lleno de gracia y de verdad.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Giovanni rende testimonianza di lui, e grida, dicendo: Questi è colui, del quale io diceva: Quegli, che verrà dopo di me, è da più di me; perchè era prima di me.

Juan dió testimonio de él, y clamó diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene tras mí, es antes de mí: porque es primero que yo.

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”

E della pienezza di lui noi tutti abbiam ricevuto, e una grazia in cambio di un'altra:

Porque de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

Perché da Mosè fu data la legge: la grazia, e la venuta per Gesù Cristo fu fatta.

Porque la ley por Moisés fué dada: mas la gracia y la verdad por Jesucristo fué hecha.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

Nissuno ha mai veduto Dio: l'unigenito Figliuolo, che è nel seno dei Padre, egli ce lo ha rivelato.

A Dios nadie le vió jamás: el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le declaró.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

Ed ecco la testimonianza, che rendè Giovanni, quando i Giudei mandarono da Gerusalemme i sacerdoti, e i Leviti a lui per dimandargli: Chi se' tu?

Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

Ed ei confessò, e non negò: e confessò: Non son io il Cristo.

Y confesó, y no negó; mas declaró: No soy yo el Cristo.

And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

He declared, and didn’t deny, but he declared, “I am not the Christ.”

Ed essi gli dimandarono: E che adunque? Se' tu Elia? Ed ei rispose: Nol sono. Se' tu il profeta? Ed, ei rispose: No.

Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”

Gli disser pertanto: Chi se' tu, affinchè possiam render risposta a chi ci ha mandato? Che dici di te stesso?

Dijéronle: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta á los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

They said therefore to him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

Io son, disse, la voce di colui, che grida nel deserto: Raddirizzate la via del Signore, come ha detto il profeta Isaia.

Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

E questi messi erano della setta de' Farisei.

Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.

And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.

E lo interrogarono, dicendogli: Come adunque battezzi tu, se non sei il Cristo, né Elia, né il profeta?

Y preguntáronle, y dijéronle: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”

Giovanni rispose loro, e disse: Io battezzo nell'acqua: ma v'ha in mezzo a voi uno, che voi non conoscete:

Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros ha estado á quien vosotros no conocéis.

John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

John answered them, “I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don’t know.

Questi è quegli, che verrà dopo di me, il quale è da più di me: a cui io non son degno di sciogliere i legaccioli delle scarpe.

Este es el que ha de venir tras mí, el cual es antes de mí: del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.

He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”

Queste cose successero a Betania di là dal Giordano, dove Giovanni stava battezzando.

Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.

These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Il giorno dopo Giovanni vide Gesù, che venivagli incontro, e disse: Ecco l'Agnello di Dio, ecco colui, che toglie i peccati del mondo.

El siguiente día ve Juan á Jesús que venía á él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Questi è colui, del quale ho detto: Dopo di me viene uno, che è da più di me: perché era prima di me:

Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí: porque era primero que yo.

This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’

E io nel conosceva; ma affinchè egli fosse riconosciuto in Israele, per questo son io venuto a battezzare nell'acqua.

Y yo no le conocía; más para que fuese manifestado á Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.

And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”

E Giovanni rendette testimonianza, dicendo: Ho veduto lo Spirito scendere dal cielo in forma di colomba, e si fermò sopra di lui.

Y Juan dió testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

E io nei conosceva: ma chi mandommi a battezzare nell'acqua, mi disse: Colui, sopra del quale vedrai discendere, e fermarsi lo Spirito, quegli è colui, che battezza nello Spirito santo.

Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió á bautizar con agua, aquél me dijo: Sobre quien vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu Santo.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

E io ho veduto: t'ho attestato, com'egli è il Figliuolo di Dio.

Y yo le vi, y he dado testimonio que éste es el Hijo de Dios.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

Il dì seguente di nuovo trovandosi Giovanni con due de' suoi discepoli,

El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos.

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

E mirando Gesù, che passeggiava, disse: Ecco l'Agnello di Dio.

Y mirando á Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios.

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

E udiron le sue parole i due discepoli, e seguitarmi Gesù.

Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron á Jesús.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

E rivoltosi Gesù, e vedutili, che lo seguivano, disse loro: che cercate voi? Ed essi gli risposero: Rabbi (che vuol dir maestro), dov'è la tua abitazione?

Y volviéndose Jesús, y viéndolos seguirle, díceles: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabbí (que declarado quiere decir Maestro) ¿dónde moras?

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”

Rispose loro: Venite, e vedete. Andarono, e videro, dove egli stava, e si stetter con lui per quel giorno: era allora circa la decima ora.

Díceles: Venid y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba, y quedáronse con él aquel día: porque era como la hora de las diez.

He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

Andrea fratello di Simon Pietro era uno dei due, che avevan udito le parole di Giovanni, ed avean seguitato Gesù.

Era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído de Juan, y le habían seguido.

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Il primo, in cui questi s'imbattè, fu il suo fratello Simone, e dissegli: Abbiano trovato il Messia (che vuol dire il Cristo).

Este halló primero á su hermano Simón, y díjole: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que declarado es, el Cristo).

He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

E lo condusse da Gesù. E Gesù fissato in lui lo sguardo, gli disse: Tu sei Simone, figliuolo di Giona: tu sarai chiamato Cepha (che si interpreta Pietra).

Y le trajo á Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Cephas (que quiere decir, Piedra).

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

Il di seguente Gesù volle andare nella Galilea, e trovò Filippo, e gli disse: Seguimi.

El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir á Galilea, y halla á Felipe, al cual dijo: Sígueme.

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”

Filippo era di Betsaida, patria di Andrea, e di Pietro.

Y era Felipe de Bethsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Filippo trovò Natanaele, e gli disse: Abbiam trovato quello, di cui scrisse Mosè nella legge, e i profeti, Gesù di Nazareth figliuolo di Giuseppe.

Felipe halló á Natanael, y dícele: Hemos hallado á aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: á Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Natanaele gli rispose: Può egli mai uscir cosa buona da Nazareth? Filippo gli disse: Vieni, e vedi.

Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve.

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Vide Gesù Natanaele, il quale veniva a trovarlo, e disse di lui: Ecco un vero Israelita, in cui non è froda.

Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

Natanaele gli disse: Come mai mi conosci tu? Gesù gli rispose: Prima che Filippo ti chiamasse, io ti vidi, quando eri sotto il fico.

Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi.

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Natanaele rispose, e dissegli: Maestro, tu sei Figliuolo di Dio, tu sei il Re d'Israele.

Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”

Gesù gli rispose, e disse: Perché ti ho detto, che ti ho veduto sotto il fico, tu credi: vedrai cose maggiori di questa.

Respondió Jesús y díjole: ¿Porque te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que éstas verás.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”

E dissegli: In verità, in verità io vi dico, vedrete aperto il cielo, e gli Angeli di Dio andare, e venire il figliuolo dell'uomo. Gesù invitato a nozze cangia l'acqua in vino, e da Cafarnaum va a Gerusalemme; caccia dal tempio i negozianti, e domandatogli da’ Giudei un segno, dice: Disfate questo tempio. Molti a motivo de’ miracoli credettero nel nome di lui, ma egli non fidava loro se stesso.

Y dícele: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.

And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
