Detto questo, Gesù uscì co' suoi discepoli di là dal torrente Cedron, dove era un orto, in cui entrò egli, e i suoi discepoli.

COMO Jesús hubo dicho estas cosas, salióse con sus discípulos tras el arroyo de Cedrón, donde estaba un huerto, en el cual entró Jesús y sus discípulos.

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.

Or questo luogo era cognito anche a Giuda, il quale lo tradiva: perché frequentemente si era colà portato Gesù co' suoi discepoli.

Y también Judas, el que le entregaba, sabía aquel lugar; porque muchas veces Jesús se juntaba allí con sus discípulos.

And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often met there with his disciples.

Giuda pertanto avuta una coorte, e de' ministri dai Principi dei sacerdoti, e da' Farisei, andò colà con lanterne, fiaccole, e armi.

Judas pues tomando una compañía, y ministros de los pontífices y de los Fariseos, vino allí con linternas y antorchas, y con armas.

Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

Judas then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

Ma Gesù, che sapeva tutto quello che doveva accadere sopra di lui, si fece avanti, e disse loro: Di chi cercate voi?

Empero Jesús, sabiendo todas las cosas que habían de venir sobre él, salió delante, y díjoles: ¿A quién buscáis?

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went out and said to them, “Who are you looking for?”

Gli risposero: Di Gesù Nazzareno. Disse loro Gesù: Son io. Ed era con essi anche Giuda, il quale lo tradiva.

Respondiéronle: A Jesús Nazareno. Díceles Jesús: Yo soy. (Y estaba también con ellos Judas, el que le entregaba.)

They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.” Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.

Appena però ebbe detto loro: Son io: dettero indietro, e stramazzaron per terra.

Y como les dijo, Yo soy, volvieron atrás, y cayeron en tierra.

As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

When therefore he said to them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground.

Di nuovo adunque domandò loro: Di chi cercate? E quelli dissero: Di Gesù Nazzareno.

Volvióles, pues, á preguntar: ¿A quién buscáis? Y ellos dijeron: A Jesús Nazareno.

Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

Again therefore he asked them, “Who are you looking for?” They said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Rispose Gesù: vi ho detto, che son io: se adunque cercate di me, lasciate, che questi se ne vadano.

Respondió Jesús: Os he dicho que yo soy: pues si á mí buscáis, dejad ir á éstos.

Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:

Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,”

Affinchè si adempisse la parola detta da lui: Di quelli, che hai dati a me, nissuno ne ho perduto.

Para que se cumpliese la palabra que había dicho: De los que me diste, ninguno de ellos perdí.

That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, “Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none.”

Ma Simon Pietro, che aveva la spada, la sfoderò: e ferì un servidore del sommo Pontefice: e gli tagliò l'orecchia destra. Questo servitore chiamavasi Malco.

Entonces Simón Pedro, que tenía espada, sacóla, é hirió al siervo del pontífice, y le cortó la oreja derecha. Y el siervo se llamaba Malco.

Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

Gesù però disse a Pietro: Rimetti la tua spada nel fodero. Non berrò io il calice datomi dal Padre?

Jesús entonces dijo á Pedro: Mete tu espada en la vaina: el vaso que el Padre me ha dado, ¿no lo tengo de beber?

Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Jesus therefore said to Peter, “Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?”

La coorte pertanto, e il tribuno, e i ministri de' Giudei afferrarono Gesù, e lo legarono:

Entonces la compañía y el tribuno, y los ministros de los Judíos, prendieron á Jesús y le ataron,

Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jews seized Jesus and bound him,

E lo menarono di là primieramente ad Anna; perché era suocero di Caifa, il quale era Pontefice in quell'anno.

Y lleváronle primeramente á Anás; porque era suegro de Caifás, el cual era pontífice de aquel año.

And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.

and led him to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.

Caifa poi era quello, che avea dato per consiglio a' Giudei, che era spediente, che un sol uomo morisse pel popolo.

Y era Caifás el que había dado el consejo á los Judíos, que era necesario que un hombre muriese por el pueblo.

Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.

Teneva dietro a Gesù Simone Pietro, e un altro discepolo. E quest'altro discepolo era conosciuto dal Pontefice, ed entro con Gesù nel cortile del Pontefice.

Y seguía á Jesús Simón Pedro, y otro discípulo. Y aquel discípulo era conocido del pontífice, y entró con Jesús al atrio del pontífice;

And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;

Pietro poi restò di fuori alla porta. Ma uscì quell'altro discepolo, che era conosciuto dal Pontefice, e parlò alla portinaja, e fece entrar Pietro.

Mas Pedro estaba fuera á la puerta. Y salió aquel discípulo que era conocido del pontífice, y habló á la portera, y metió dentro á Pedro.

But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.

but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.

Disse però a Pietro la serva portinaja: Sei forse anche tu dei discepoli di quest'uomo? Ei rispose: Nol sono.

Entonces la criada portera dijo á Pedro: ¿No eres tú también de los discípulos de este hombre? Dice él: No soy.

Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.

Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, “Are you also one of this man’s disciples?” He said, “I am not.”

Stavano i servi, e i ministri al fuoco, perché faceva freddo, e si scaldavano: e Pietro se nè stava con essi, e si scaldava.

Y estaban en pie los siervos y los ministros que habían allegado las ascuas; porque hacía frío, y calentábanse: y estaba también con ellos Pedro en pie, calentándose.

And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.

Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Peter was with them, standing and warming himself.

Or il Pontefice interrogò Gesù circa i suoi discepoli, e circa la sua dottrina.

Y el pontífice preguntó á Jesús acerca de sus discípulos y de su doctrina.

The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.

The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.

Gesù gli rispose: Io ho parlato alla gente, in pubblico: Io ho sempre insegnato nella Sinagoga, e nel Tempio, dove si radunano tutti i Giudei, e non ho fatto parola in segreto:

Jesús le respondió: Yo manifiestamente he hablado al mundo: yo siempre he enseñado en la sinagoga y en el templo, donde se juntan todos los Judíos, y nada he hablado en oculto.

Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.

Perché interroghi me? Domanda a coloro, che hanno udito quel, che io abbia loro detto: questi sanno, quali cose io abbia dette.

¿Qué me preguntas á mí? Pregunta á los que han oído, qué les haya yo hablado: he aquí, ésos saben lo que yo he dicho.

Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.

Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, they know the things which I said.”

Appena ebbe egli detto questo, che uno de' ministri quivi presenti diede uno schiaffo a Gesù, dicendo: Così rispondi al Pontefice?

Y como él hubo dicho esto, uno de los criados que estaba allí, dió una bofetada á Jesús, diciendo: ¿Así respondes al pontífice?

And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, “Do you answer the high priest like that?”

Risposegli Gesù: Se ho parlato male, dammi accusa di questo male: se bene, perché mi percuoti?

Respondióle Jesús: Si he hablado mal, da testimonio del mal: y si bien, ¿por qué me hieres?

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?

Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?”

Lo aveva dunque mandato Anna legato al sommo Pontefice Caifa.

Y Anás le había enviado atado á Caifás pontífice.

Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.

Ed eravi Simon Pietro, che si stava scaldando. A lui dunque dissero: Sei forse anche tu de' suoi discepoli? Egli negò, dicendo: Nol sono.

Estaba pues Pedro en pie calentándose. Y dijéronle: ¿No eres tú de sus discípulos? El negó, y dijo: No soy.

And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, “You aren’t also one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.”

Dissegli uno de' servi del sommo Pontefice, parente di quello, cui Pietro avea tagliato l'orecchia? Non ti ho io veduto nell'orto con lui?

Uno de los siervos del pontífice, pariente de aquél á quien Pedro había cortado la oreja, le dice: ¿No te vi yo en el huerto con él?

One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?

One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, “Didn’t I see you in the garden with him?”

Ma Pietro negò di nuovo: e subito cantò il gallo.

Y negó Pedro otra vez: y luego el gallo cantó.

Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.

Condussero adunque Gesù dalla casa di Caifa al pretorio. Ed era di mattino: ed essi non entrarono nel pretorio per non contaminarsi, affin di mangiare la Pasqua.

Y llevaron á Jesús de Caifás al pretorio: y era por la mañana: y ellos no entraron en el pretorio por no ser contaminados, sino que comiesen la pascua.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.

They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.

Uscì adunque fuora Pilato ad essi, e disse: Che accusa presentate voi contro quest'uomo?

Entonces salió Pilato á ellos fuera, y dijo: ¿Qué acusación traéis contra este hombre?

Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

Pilate therefore went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?”

Gli risposer, e dissero: Se non fosse costui un malfattore, non lo avremmo rimesso nelle tue mani.

Respondieron y dijéronle: Si éste no fuera malhechor, no te le habríamos entregado.

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

They answered him, “If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”

Disse adunque loro Pilato: Prendetelo voi, e giudicatelo secondo la vostra legge. Mai Giudei gli dissero: Non è lecito a noi di dar morte ad alcuno.

Díceles entonces Pilato: Tomadle vosotros, y juzgadle según vuestra ley. Y los Judíos le dijeron: A nosotros no es lícito matar á nadie:

Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:

Pilate therefore said to them, “Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is illegal for us to put anyone to death,”

Affinchè si adempisse la parola detta da Gesù, per significare, di qual morte doveva morire.

Para que se cumpliese el dicho de Jesús, que había dicho, dando á entender de qué muerte había de morir.

That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.

Entrò adunque di nuovo Pilato nel pretorio, e chiamò Gesù, e gli disse: Se' tu il Re de' Giudei?

Así que, Pilato volvió á entrar en el pretorio, y llamó á Jesús, y díjole: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos?

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”

Gli rispose Gesù: Dici tu questo da te stesso, ovvero altri te lo hanno detto di me?

Respondióle Jesús: ¿Dices tú esto de ti mismo, ó te lo han dicho otros de mí?

Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

Jesus answered him, “Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?”

Rispose Pilato: Son io forse Giudeo? La tua nazione, e i Pontefici ti hanno messo nelle mie mani: che hai tu fatto?

Pilato respondió: ¿Soy yo Judío? Tu gente, y los pontífices, te han entregado á mí: ¿qué has hecho?

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

Pilate answered, “I’m not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?”

Rispose Gesù: Il regno mio non è di questo mondo: se fosse di questo mondo il mio regno, i miei ministri certamente si adoprerebbero, perché non venissi dato in poter de' Giudei: ora poi il regno mio non è di qua'.

Respondió Jesús: Mi reino no es de este mundo: si de este mundo fuera mi reino, mis servidores pelearían para que yo no fuera entregado á los Judíos: ahora, pues, mi reino no es de aquí.

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn’t be delivered to the Jews. But now my Kingdom is not from here.”

Dissegli però Pilato: Tu dunque sei re? Rispose Gesù: Tu dici, che io sono re. Io a questo fine son nato, e a questo fine sono venuto nel mondo, di render testimonianza alla verità: Chiunque sta per la verità, ascolta la mia voce.

Díjole entonces Pilato: ¿Luego rey eres tú? Respondió Jesús: Tú dices que yo soy rey. Yo para esto he nacido, y para esto he venido al mundo, para dar testimonio á la verdad. Todo aquél que es de la verdad, oye mi voz.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Pilate therefore said to him, “Are you a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

Dissegli Pilato: Che cosa è la verità? E detto questo, di nuovo uscì a trovar i Giudei, e disse loro: Io non trovo in lui nissun delitto.

Dícele Pilato: ¿Qué cosa es verdad? Y como hubo dicho esto, salió otra vez á los Judíos, y díceles: Yo no hallo en él ningún crimen.

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no basis for a charge against him.

Ora poi avete per uso, che io vi lasci libero un uomo nella Pasqua: Volete adunque, che vi metta in libertà il Re de' Giudei.

Empero vosotros tenéis costumbre, que os suelte uno en la Pascua: ¿queréis, pues, que os suelte al Rey de los Judíos?

But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore, do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

Ma gridarono replicatamente tutti dicendo: Non costui, ma Barabba. Or Barabba era un assassino. E' flagellato da Pilato, e maltrattato in varie guise, e coronato di spine; si vuol la sua morte. Esaminato di nuovo da Pilato dichiara, che egli solamente di sopra ha podestà di giudicarlo. Pilato per timore condanna a morte Gesù chiamato du lui Re de’ Giudei. Gesù porta la sua Croce, ed è crocifisso tra due ladroni. Pilato pone il titolo sopra la Croce, e, divise tra' soldati le vesti, è tirata a sorte la tonaca. Gesù raccomanda alla Madre Giovanni, e Giovanni alla Madre; e avendo sete, preso l'aceto, e consumate tutte le cose rende lo spirito. Rotte le gambe ai ladroni, dall'aperto costato di Cristo esce sangue, ed acqua: e il corpo di lui imbalsamata con mirra, ed aloe, è posto nel sepolcro.

Entonces todos dieron voces otra vez, diciendo: No á éste, sino á Barrabás. Y Barrabás era ladrón.

Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

Then they all shouted again, saying, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
