1Solches habe ich zu euch geredet, damit ihr keinen Anstoß nehmet.
2Sie werden euch aus der Synagoge ausschließen; es kommt sogar die Stunde, wo jeder, der euch tötet, meinen wird, Gott einen Dienst zu erweisen.
3Und solches werden sie euch tun, weil sie weder den Vater noch mich kennen.
4Ich aber habe euch solches gesagt, damit, wenn die Stunde kommt, ihr daran denket, daß ich es euch gesagt habe. Solches aber habe ich euch nicht von Anfang an gesagt, weil ich bei euch war.
5Nun aber gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat, und niemand unter euch fragt mich: Wohin gehst du?
6Sondern weil ich euch solches gesagt habe, ist euer Herz voll Trauer.
7Aber ich sage euch die Wahrheit: Es ist gut für euch, daß ich hingehe; denn wenn ich nicht hingehe, so kommt der Beistand nicht zu euch. Wenn ich aber hingegangen bin, will ich ihn zu euch senden.
8Und wenn jener kommt, wird er die Welt überzeugen von Sünde und von Gerechtigkeit und von Gericht;
9von Sünde, weil sie nicht an mich glauben;
10von Gerechtigkeit aber, weil ich zum Vater gehe und ihr mich hinfort nicht mehr sehet;
11von Gericht, weil der Fürst dieser Welt gerichtet ist.
12Noch vieles hätte ich euch zu sagen; aber ihr könnt es jetzt nicht ertragen.
13Wenn aber jener kommt, der Geist der Wahrheit, wird er euch in die ganze Wahrheit leiten; denn er wird nicht von sich selbst reden, sondern was er hören wird, das wird er reden, und was zukünftig ist, wird er euch verkündigen.
14Derselbe wird mich verherrlichen; denn von dem Meinigen wird er es nehmen und euch verkündigen.
15Alles, was der Vater hat, ist mein; darum habe ich gesagt, daß er es von dem Meinigen nehmen und euch verkündigen wird.
16In kurzem werdet ihr mich nicht mehr sehen, und wiederum in kurzem werdet ihr mich sehen, denn ich gehe zum Vater.
17Da sprachen etliche seiner Jünger zueinander: Was bedeutet das, daß er sagt: In kurzem werdet ihr mich nicht mehr sehen, und wiederum in kurzem werdet ihr mich sehen, und: Ich gehe zum Vater?
18Sie fragten nämlich: Was bedeutet das, daß er sagt: In kurzem? Wir wissen nicht, was er redet!
19Jesus merkte, daß sie ihn fragen wollten, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr befraget einander darüber, daß ich gesagt habe: In kurzem sehet ihr mich nicht mehr, und wiederum in kurzem werdet ihr mich sehen?
20Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, ihr werdet weinen und wehklagen, aber die Welt wird sich freuen, ihr aber werdet trauern; doch eure Traurigkeit soll in Freude verwandelt werden.
21Wenn eine Frau gebiert, so hat sie Traurigkeit, weil ihre Stunde gekommen ist; wenn sie aber das Kind geboren hat, denkt sie nicht mehr an die Angst, um der Freude willen, daß ein Mensch zur Welt geboren ist.
22So habt auch ihr nun Traurigkeit; ich werde euch aber wiedersehen, und dann wird euer Herz sich freuen, und niemand wird eure Freude von euch nehmen.
23Und an jenem Tage werdet ihr mich gar nichts fragen. Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, was irgend ihr den Vater bitten werdet in meinem Namen, er wird es euch geben!
24Bis jetzt habt ihr gar nichts in meinem Namen gebeten; bittet, so werdet ihr nehmen, auf daß eure Freude völlig werde!
25Solches habe ich euch in Gleichnissen gesagt; es kommt aber die Stunde, da ich nicht mehr in Gleichnissen zu euch reden, sondern euch offen vom Vater Kunde geben werde.
26An jenem Tage werdet ihr in meinem Namen bitten, und ich sage euch nicht, daß ich den Vater für euch bitten wolle;
27denn der Vater selbst hat euch lieb, weil ihr mich liebet und glaubet, daß ich von Gott ausgegangen bin.
28Ich bin vom Vater ausgegangen und in die Welt gekommen; wiederum verlasse ich die Welt und gehe zum Vater.
29Da sagen seine Jünger: Siehe, jetzt redest du offen und brauchst kein Gleichnis!
30Jetzt wissen wir, daß du alles weißt und nicht nötig hast, daß dich jemand frage; darum glauben wir, daß du von Gott ausgegangen bist!
31Jesus antwortete ihnen: Jetzt glaubet ihr?
32Siehe, es kommt die Stunde, und sie ist schon da, wo ihr euch zerstreuen werdet, ein jeglicher in das Seine, und mich allein lasset; aber ich bin nicht allein, denn der Vater ist bei mir.
33Solches habe ich zu euch geredet, auf daß ihr in mir Frieden habet. In der Welt habt ihr Trübsal; aber seid getrost, ich habe die Welt überwunden!

1ESTAS cosas os he hablado, para que no os escandalicéis.
2Os echarán de las sinagogas; y aun viene la hora, cuando cualquiera que os matare, pensará que hace servicio á Dios.
3Y estas cosas os harán, porque no conocen al Padre ni á mí.
4Mas os he dicho esto, para que cuando aquella hora viniere, os acordéis que yo os lo había dicho. Esto empero no os lo dije al principio, porque yo estaba con vosotros.
5Mas ahora voy al que me envió; y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: ¿Adónde vas?
6Antes, porque os he hablado estas cosas, tristeza ha henchido vuestro corazón.
7Empero yo os digo la verdad: Os es necesario que yo vaya: porque si yo no fuese, el Consolador no vendría á vosotros; mas si yo fuere, os le enviaré.
8Y cuando él viniere redargüirá al mundo de pecado, y de justicia, y de juicio:
9De pecado ciertamente, por cuanto no creen en mí;
10Y de justicia, por cuanto voy al Padre, y no me veréis más;
11Y de juicio, por cuanto el príncipe de este mundo es juzgado.
12Aun tengo muchas cosas que deciros, mas ahora no las podéis llevar.
13Pero cuando viniere aquel Espíritu de verdad, él os guiará á toda verdad; porque no hablará de sí mismo, sino que hablará todo lo que oyere, y os hará saber las cosas que han de venir.
14El me glorificará: porque tomará de lo mío, y os lo hará saber.
15Todo lo que tiene el Padre, mío es: por eso dije que tomará de lo mío, y os lo hará saber.
16Un poquito, y no me veréis; y otra vez un poquito, y me veréis: porque yo voy al Padre.
17Entonces dijeron algunos de sus discípulos unos á otros: ¿Qué es esto que nos dice: Un poquito, y no me veréis; y otra vez un poquito, y me veréis: y, porque yo voy al Padre?
18Decían pues: ¿Qué es esto que dice: Un poquito? No entendemos lo que habla.
19Y conoció Jesús que le querían preguntar, y díjoles: ¿Preguntáis entre vosotros de esto que dije: Un poquito, y no me veréis, y otra vez un poquito, y me veréis?
20De cierto, de cierto os digo, que vosotros lloraréis y lamentaréis, y el mundo se alegrará: empero aunque vosotros estaréis tristes, vuestra tristeza se tornará en gozo.
21La mujer cuando pare, tiene dolor, porque es venida su hora; mas después que ha parido un niño, ya no se acuerda de la angustia, por el gozo de que haya nacido un hombre en el mundo.
22También, pues, vosotros ahora ciertamente tenéis tristeza; mas otra vez os veré, y se gozará vuestro corazón, y nadie quitará de vosotros vuestro gozo.
23Y aquel día no me preguntaréis nada. De cierto, de cierto os digo, que todo cuanto pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, os lo dará.
24Hasta ahora nada habéis pedido en mi nombre: pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
25Estas cosas os he hablado en proverbios: la hora viene cuando ya no os hablaré por proverbios, pero claramente os anunciaré del Padre.
26Aquel día pediréis en mi nombre: y no os digo, que yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros;
27Pues el mismo Padre os ama, porque vosotros me amasteis, y habéis creído que yo salí de Dios.
28Salí del Padre, y he venido al mundo: otra vez dejo el mundo, y voy al Padre.
29Dícenle sus discípulos: He aquí, ahora hablas claramente, y ningún proverbio dices.
30Ahora entendemos que sabes todas las cosas, y no necesitas que nadie te pregunte: en esto creemos que has salido de Dios.
31Respondióles Jesús: ¿Ahora creéis?
32He aquí, la hora viene, y ha venido, que seréis esparcidos cada uno por su parte, y me dejaréis solo: mas no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.
33Estas cosas os he hablado, para que en mí tengáis paz. En el mundo tendréis aflicción: mas confiad, yo he vencido al mundo.

1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
4But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
17Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
19Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
25These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
World English Bible
1“I have said these things to you so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.
2They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.
3They will do these things because they have not known the Father nor me.
4But I have told you these things so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
5But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
6But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.
7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
8When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
9about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
10about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
11about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
12“I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
13However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.
14He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine and will declare it to you.
15All things that the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine and will declare it to you.
16“A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”
17Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’?”
18They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”
19Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?
20Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
21A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.
22Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
23“In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
24Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
25“I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.
26In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,
27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.
28I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”
29His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you are speaking plainly, and using no figures of speech.
30Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came from God.”
31Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?
32Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
