Gesù adunque sei dì avanti alla Pasqua andò a Betania, dove era Lazzaro già morto, e risuscitato da Gesù.

Y JESÚS, seis días antes de la Pascua, vino á Bethania, donde estaba Lázaro, que había sido muerto, al cual había resucitado de los muertos.

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

E ivi gli diedero una cena: e Marta serviva a tavola: Lazzaro poi era uno di quelli, che stavano a mensa con lui.

E hiciéronle allí una cena: y Marta servía, y Lázaro era uno de los que estaban sentados á la mesa juntamente con él.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.

Maria però, presa una libbra di unguento di nardo liquido di gran pregio, unse i piedi di Gesù, e asciugò i piedi di lui colle sue trecce: e la casa fu ripiena dell'odor dell'unguento.

Entonces María tomó una libra de ungüento de nardo líquido de mucho precio, y ungió los pies de Jesús, y limpió sus pies con sus cabellos: y la casa se llenó del olor del ungüento.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Therefore Mary took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.

Disse perciò uno de' suoi discepoli, Giuda Iscariote, il quale era per tradirlo:

Y dijo uno de sus discípulos, Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el que le había de entregar:

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,

E perché un unguento come questo non si è venduto trecento danari, e dato ai poveri?

¿Por qué no se ha vendido este ungüento por trescientos dineros, y se dió á los pobres?

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

“Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”

Ciò egli disse, non perché si prendesse pensiero de' poveri, ma perché era ladro, e tenendo la borsa, portava quello, che vi era messo dentro.

Mas dijo esto, no por el cuidado que él tenía de los pobres; sino porque era ladrón, y tenía la bolsa, y traía lo que se echaba en ella.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.

Disse adunque Gesù: Lasciatela fare, che riserbi questo pel dì della mia Sepoltura.

Entonces Jesús dijo: Déjala: para el día de mi sepultura ha guardado esto;

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.

Imperocchè i poveri gli avete sempre con voi: me poi non sempre mi avete.

Porque á los pobres siempre los tenéis con vosotros, mas á mí no siempre me tenéis.

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”

Seppe pertanto una gran turba di Giudei, come Gesù era in quel luogo: e vi andarono non per Gesù solamente, ma anche per veder Lazzaro risuscitato da lui.

Entonces mucha gente de los Judíos entendió que él estaba allí; y vinieron no solamente por causa de Jesús, mas también por ver á Lázaro, al cual había resucitado de los muertos.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

Tenner consiglio perciò i Principi de' sacerdoti di dar morte anche a Lazzaro:

Consultaron asimismo los príncipes de los sacerdotes, de matar también á Lázaro;

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,

Perché molti per causa di esso si separavano da' Giudei, e credevano in Gesù.

Porque muchos de los Judíos iban y creían en Jesús por causa de él.

Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.

Il di seguente una gran turba di gente concorsa alla festa avendo udito, che Gesù andava a Gerusalemme,

El siguiente día, mucha gente que había venido á la fiesta, como oyeron que Jesús venía á Jerusalem,

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Preser de' rami di palme, e uscirongli incontro, e gridavano: Osanna, benedetto colui, che viene nel nome del Signore, il Re d'Israele.

Tomaron ramos de palmas, y salieron á recibirle, y clamaban: ¡Hosanna, Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel!

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!”

E Gesù trovò un asinello, e vi montò sopra, conforme sta' scritto:

Y halló Jesús un asnillo, y se sentó sobre él, como está escrito:

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,

Non temere, figlia di Sion: ecco che il tuo Re viene sedente sopra un asinello.

No temas, hija de Sión: he aquí tu Rey viene, sentado sobre un pollino de asna.

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

“Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

Queste cose non le compresero da principio i suoi discepoli: ma glorificata che fu Gesù, allora si ricordarono, che tali cose erano state scritte di lui, e a lui erano state fatte.

Estas cosas no las entendieron sus discípulos de primero: empero cuando Jesús fué glorificado, entonces se acordaron de que estas cosas estaban escritas de él, y que le hicieron estas cosas.

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.

La turba poi, che era con lui, attestava, com' egli chiamò Lazzaro dal sepolcro, e risuscitollo da morte.

Y la gente que estaba con él, daba testimonio de cuando llamó á Lázaro del sepulcro, y le resucitó de los muertos.

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead was testifying about it.

E per questo gli andò incontro la turba: perché avevano adito, che avea fatto quel miracolo.

Por lo cual también había venido la gente á recibirle, porque había oído que él había hecho esta señal;

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.

I Farisei pertanto disser tra di loro: Vedete voi, che non facciamo nulla? Ecco che il mondo tutto gli va dietro.

Mas los Fariseos dijeron entre sí: ¿Veis que nada aprovecháis? he aquí, el mundo se va tras de él.

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”

Ed eranvi alcuni Gentili, di quelli, che erano andati ad adorare Dio nella festa.

Y había ciertos Griegos de los que habían subido á adorar en la fiesta:

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

Now there were certain Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast.

Questi si accostarono a Filippo, che era di Betsaida della Galilea e lo pregavano, dicendo: Signore, desideriamo di vedere Gesù.

Estos pues, se llegaron á Felipe, que era de Bethsaida de Galilea, y rogáronle, diciendo: Señor, querríamos ver á Jesús.

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

Therefore, these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”

Filippo andò, e dircelo ad Andrea: e Andrea, e Filippo lo dissero a Gesù.

Vino Felipe, y díjolo á Andrés: Andrés entonces, y Felipe, lo dicen á Jesús.

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.

E Gesù rispose loro con dire: E venuto il tempo, che sia glorificato il Figliuolo dell'uomo.

Entonces Jesús les respondió, diciendo: La hora viene en que el Hijo del hombre ha de ser glorificado.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

In verità, in verità ti dico: se il granello di frumento caduto in terra non muore,

De cierto, de cierto os digo, que si el grano de trigo no cae en la tierra y muere, él solo queda; mas si muriere, mucho fruto lleva.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.

Resta infecondo: se poi muore, fruttifica abbondantemente. Chi ama l'anima sua, la ucciderà: e chi odia l'anima sua in questo mondo la salverà per la vita eterna.

El que ama su vida, la perderá; y el que aborrece su vida en este mundo, para vida eterna la guardará.

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.

Chi mi serve, mi segua: e dove son io, ivi sarà ancora colui, che mi serve. E chi servirà a me, sarà onorato dal Padre mio.

Si alguno me sirve, sígame: y donde yo estuviere, allí también estará mi servidor. Si alguno me sirviere, mi Padre le honrará.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Adesso l'anima mia è conturbata. E che dirò io? Padre salvami da questo punto. Ma per questo sono io arrivato in questo punto.

Ahora está turbada mi alma; ¿y qué diré? Padre, sálvame de esta hora. Mas por esto he venido en esta hora.

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

“Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time’? But I came to this time for this cause.

Padre glorifica il nome tuo. Venne allora dal cielo questa voce: e lo ho glorificato, e lo glorificherò di bel nuovo.

Padre, glorifica tu nombre. Entonces vino una voz del cielo: Y lo he glorificado, y lo glorificaré otra vez.

Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

Or la turba, che ivi si trovava, e udì diceva, che era stato un tuono. Altri dicevano: Un Angelo gli ha parlato.

Y la gente que estaba presente, y había oído, decía que había sido trueno. Otros decían: Angel le ha hablado.

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

Therefore the multitude who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

Ripigliò Gesù, e disse: Questa voce non è stata per me, ma per voi.

Respondió Jesús, y dijo: No ha venido esta voz por mi causa, mas por causa de vosotros.

Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.

Adesso si fa giudizio di questo mondo: adesso il Principe di questo mondo sarà cacciato fuora.

Ahora es el juicio de este mundo: ahora el príncipe de este mundo será echado fuera.

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.

Ed io, quando sia levato da terra, trarrò tutto a me.

Y yo, si fuere levantado de la tierra, á todos traeré á mí mismo.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

(E ciò egli diceva per significare di qual morte era per morire).

Y esto decía dando á entender de qué muerte había de morir.

This he said, signifying what death he should die.

But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.

Risposegli la turba: Noi abbiamo apparato dalla legge, che il Cristo vive eternamente: E come dici tu, che il Figliuol dell'uomo dee esser levato da terra? Chi è questo Figliuolo dell'uomo?

Respondióle la gente: Nosotros hemos oído de la ley, que el Cristo permanece para siempre: ¿cómo pues dices tú: Conviene que el Hijo del hombre sea levantado? ¿Quién es este Hijo del hombre?

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

Disse adunque loro Gesù: Per poco ancora o la luce con voi, camminate, mentre avete lume, affinchè non vi sorprendan le tenebre: e chi cammina nelle tenebre, non sa, dove si vada.

Entonces Jesús les dice: Aun por un poco estará la luz entre vosotros: andad entre tanto que tenéis luz, porque no os sorprendan las tinieblas; porque el que anda en tinieblas, no sabe dónde va.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.

Sino a tanto che avete la luce, credete nella luce, affinchè divenghiate figliuoli della luce. Così parlò Gesù: e se n'andò, e ad essi si nascose.

Entre tanto que tenéis la luz, creed en la luz, para que seáis hijos de luz. Estas cosas habló Jesús, y fuése, y escondióse de ellos.

While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

Ed avendo egli fatto sì grandi miracoli su' loro occhi, non credevano in lui:

Empero habiendo hecho delante de ellos tantas señales, no creían en él.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,

Affinchè si adempisse il detto di Isaia profeta, quando disse: Signore, chi ha creduto quello, che ha udito da noi? Ed a chi è stata rivelata la potenza del Signore?

Para que se cumpliese el dicho que dijo el profeta Isaías: ¿Señor, quién ha creído á nuestro dicho? ¿y el brazo del Señor, á quién es revelado?

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

Per questo non potevano credere, il perché disse parimente Isaia:

Por esto no podían creer, porque otra vez dijo Isaías:

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again:

Accecò i loro occhi, e indurò loro il cuore: affinchè con gli occhi non veggano, e col cuor non intendano, e si convertano, ed io gli risani.

Cegó los ojos de ellos, y endureció su corazón; porque no vean con los ojos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.”

Tali cose disse Isaia, allorché vide la gloria di lui, e di lui parlò.

Estas cosas dijo Isaías cuando vió su gloria, y habló de él.

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.

Nondimeno molti anche de' grandi credettero in lui: ma per paura de' Farisei noi confessavano per non essere scacciati dalla Sinagoga:

Con todo eso, aun de los príncipes, muchos creyeron en él; mas por causa de los Fariseos no lo confesaban, por no ser echados de la sinagoga.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

Nevertheless, even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,

Imperocché amarono più la gloria degli uomini, che la gloria di Dio.

Porque amaban más la gloria de los hombres que la gloria de Dios.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.

Ma Gesù alzò la voce, e disse: chi crede in me, crede non in me, ma in colui, che mi ha mandato.

Mas Jesús clamó y dijo: El que cree en mí, no cree en mí, sino en el que me envió;

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.

E chi vede me, vede colui, che mi ha mandato.

Y el que me ve, ve al que me envió.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

He who sees me sees him who sent me.

Io son venuto luce al mondo, affinchè chi crede in me, non resti tralle tenebre.

Yo la luz he venido al mundo, para que todo aquel que cree en mí no permanezca en tinieblas.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

E chiunque avrà udite le mie parole, e non avrà creduto in me, io non lo giudico: imperocché non son venuto per giudicare il mondo, ma per salvare il mondo.

Y el que oyere mis palabras, y no las creyere, yo no le juzgo; porque no he venido á juzgar al mundo, sino á salvar al mundo.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

If anyone listens to my sayings and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Chi rigetta me, e non riceve le mie parole, ha chi lo giudica: la parola annunziata da me, questa sarà suo giudice nel giorno estremo.

El que me desecha, y no recibe mis palabras, tiene quien le juzgue: la palabra que he hablado, ella le juzgará en el día postrero.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him in the last day.

Conciossiaché io non ho parlato di mie arbitrio, ma il Padre, che mi ha mandato, egli mi prescrisse quel, che ho da dire, e di che ho da parlare.

Porque yo no he hablado de mí mismo: mas el Padre que me envió, él me dió mandamiento de lo que he de decir, y de lo que he de hablar.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.

E so, che il suo comandamento è vita eterna. Le cose adunque, che io dico, ve le dico in quel modo, che le ha dette a me il Padre. Gesù dopo la cena cintosi uno sciugatojo lava i piedi ai discepoli, non volendo da prima Pietro permetterglielo. Gli esorta a far lo stesso tra loro. Indica a Giovanni il suo traditore, il quale uscito dopo il boccone, dice, se essere stato glorificato. Del nuovo comandamento di amore. Predice a Pietro, che lo negherà tre volte.

Y sé que su mandamiento es vida eterna: así que, lo que yo hablo, como el Padre me lo ha dicho, así hablo.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak.”
