Das sagte er aber nicht, weil ihm an den Armen lag, sondern weil er ein Dieb war, und, da er den Beutel führte, die Einlagen wegnahm.

Mas dijo esto, no por el cuidado que él tenía de los pobres; sino porque era ladrón, y tenía la bolsa, y traía lo que se echaba en ella.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
