1Das Wort, welches an Jeremia von seiten Jahwes erging, also lautend:
2Tritt in das Thor des Tempels Jahwes und verkündige daselbst folgenden Spruch und sage: Hört das Wort Jahwes, ihr Judäer alle, die ihr in diese Thore eintretet, um Jahwe anzubeten!
3So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Befleißigt euch eines guten Wandels und guter Thaten, so will ich euch an dieser Stätte wohnen lassen.
4Setzt euer Vertrauen nur ja nicht auf die trügerischen Reden, wenn sie sagen: Der Tempel Jahwes, der Tempel Jahwes, der Tempel Jahwes ist dies!
5Denn nur wenn ihr euch ernstlich eines guten Wandels und guter Thaten befleißigt, wenn ihr ernstlich das Recht zur Geltung bringt bei dem Streite des einen mit dem andern,
6Fremdlinge, Waisen und Witwen nicht bedrückt, noch unschuldiges Blut vergießt an dieser Stätte und nicht fremden Göttern nachwandelt - euch zum Unheil:
7dann will ich euch an dieser Stätte wohnen lassen, in dem Lande, das ich euren Vätern verliehen habe, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit.
8Indes ihr setzt euer Vertrauen auf die trügerischen Reden - ohne irgend welchen Nutzen!
9Wie? stehlen, morden und ehebrechen und falsch schwören, dem Baal räuchern und fremden Göttern nachlaufen, die ihr nicht kennt:
10und dann kommt ihr und tretet vor mich hin in diesem Hause, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, und sprecht: Wir sind geborgen! um alsbald alle jene Greuel aufs Neue zu verüben?
11Ist denn in euren Augen dieses Haus, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, zu einer Räuberhöhle geworden? Ja wahrlich, auch ich sehe es so an, - ist der Spruch Jahwes.
12Denn geht doch hin an meine Wohnstatt in Silo, woselbst ich in früheren Zeiten meinen Namen wohnen ließ, und seht, wie ich mit ihr ob der Bosheit meines Volkes Israel verfahren bin!
13Nun aber, weil ihr alle jene Frevelthaten verübt - ist der Spruch Jahwes - und, obschon ich immerfort ernstlich zu euch redete, dennoch nicht gehört habt und, obschon ich euch rief, nicht geantwortet habt:
14so will ich mit dem Hause, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, auf das ihr euer Vertrauen setzt, und dem Orte, den ich euch und euren Vätern verliehen habe, verfahren, wie ich mit Silo verfahren bin,
15und will euch aus meiner Gegenwart verstoßen, so wie ich eure Brüder, die gesamte Nachkommenschaft Ephraims, verstoßen habe.
16Du aber, bete nicht für dieses Volk, noch laß flehentliche Bitte für sie laut werden noch auch dringe in mich, denn ich höre dich doch nicht an!
17Siehst du denn nicht, was sie in den Städten Judas und auf den Straßen Jerusalems treiben?
18Die Kinder sammeln Holz und die Väter zünden das Feuer an, die Weiber aber kneten den Teig, um Kuchen für die Himmelskönigin herzurichten und fremden Göttern Trankopfer zu spenden, um mich so zu ärgern.
19Indes ärgern sie mich? - ist der Spruch Jahwes, - nicht vielmehr sich selbst, um schmählich zu schanden zu werden?
20Darum spricht also der Herr Jahwe: Fürwahr, mein Zorn und mein Grimm wird sich auf diesen Ort ergießen, über Menschen und über Vieh und über die Bäume des Feldes und über die Früchte des Landes, und er wird brennen unauslöschlich.
21So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Fügt nur eure Brandopfer zu euren Schlachtopfern und eßt Fleisch!
22Denn ich habe euren Vätern, als ich sie aus Ägypten wegführte, nichts gesagt und nichts geboten in betreff von Brandopfern und Schlachtopfern,
23sondern das habe ich ihnen anbefohlen: Gehorcht meinen Befehlen, so will ich euer Gott sein, und wandelt durchaus auf dem Wege, den ich euch verordnen werde, auf daß es euch wohlgehe!
24Sie aber hörten nicht, noch neigten sie ihr Ohr mir zu, sondern folgten in ihrem Wandel den Anschlägen ihres bösen Sinnes und kehrten mir den Rücken zu und nicht das Angesicht.
25Wohl habe ich von dem Tag an, da eure Väter aus Ägypten wegzogen, bis auf den heutigen Tag alle meine Knechte, die Propheten, Tag für Tag unermüdlich zu euch gesandt:
26aber sie hörten nicht auf mich, noch neigten sie ihr Ohr mir zu, zeigten sich vielmehr halsstarrig, indem sie es ärger trieben als ihre Väter.
27Sprichst du aber nun alle diese Worte zu ihnen, so werden sie doch nicht auf dich hören, und rufst du ihnen zu - sie werden dir nicht antworten.
28Da wirst du dann von ihnen sagen: Das ist das Volk, das den Befehlen Jahwes, seines Gottes, nicht gehorcht, noch Zucht annimmt; geschwunden ist die Treue, ja weggetilgt ist sie aus ihrem Munde!
29Schere ab deinen Hauptschmuck und wirf ihn weg und stimme auf kahlen Höhen ein Klagelied an; denn verworfen hat Jahwe und verstoßen das Geschlecht, das seinem Grimme verfallen ist!
30Denn die Söhne Judas haben gethan, was mir mißfällig ist - ist der Spruch Jahwes -: sie haben in dem Hause, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, ihre Scheusale aufgestellt, um es zu verunreinigen,
31und haben die Opferstätten des Topheth im Thale Ben Hinnom errichtet, um ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter zu verbrennen: was ich nicht geboten habe und mir nie in den Sinn gekommen ist.
32Darum wahrlich, es soll die Zeit kommen - ist der Spruch Jahwes -, da wird man nicht mehr von dem “Topheth”, noch von dem “Thale Ben Hinnom” reden, sondern von dem “Würgethal”, und man wird im Topheth begraben, weil sonst kein Raum mehr ist,
33und es werden die Leichen dieses Volks den Vögeln unter dem Himmel und den wilden Tieren zum Fraße dienen, ohne daß sie jemand hinwegscheucht.
34Dann werde ich aus den Städten Judas und von den Gassen Jerusalems Wonnejubel und Freudenjubel, Bräutigamsjubel und Brautjubel verschwinden lassen, denn zur Wüstenei soll das Land werden.

1PALABRA que fué de Jehová á Jeremías, diciendo:
2Ponte á la puerta de la casa de Jehová, y predica allí esta palabra, y di: Oid palabra de Jehová, todo Judá, los que entráis por estas puertas para adorar á Jehová.
3Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Mejorad vuestros caminos y vuestras obras, y os haré morar en este lugar.
4No fiéis en palabras de mentira, diciendo: Templo de Jehová, templo de Jehová, templo de Jehová es éste.
5Mas si mejorareis cumplidamente vuestros caminos y vuestras obras; si con exactitud hiciereis derecho entre el hombre y su prójimo,
6Ni oprimiereis al peregrino, al huérfano, y á la viuda, ni en este lugar derramareis la sangre inocente, ni anduviereis en pos de dioses ajenos para mal vuestro;
7Os haré morar en este lugar, en la tierra que dí á vuestros padres para siempre.
8He aquí vosotros os confiáis en palabras de mentira, que no aprovechan.
9¿Hurtando, matando, y adulterando, y jurando falso, é incensando á Baal, y andando tras dioses extraños que no conocisteis,
10Vendréis y os pondréis delante de mí en esta casa sobre la cual es invocado mi nombre, y diréis: Librados somos: para hacer todas estas abominaciones?
11¿Es cueva de ladrones delante de vuestros ojos esta casa, sobre la cual es invocado mi nombre? He aquí que también yo veo, dice Jehová.
12Andad empero ahora á mi lugar que fué en Silo, donde hice que morase mi nombre al principio, y ved lo que le hice por la maldad de mi pueblo Israel.
13Ahora pues, por cuanto habéis vosotros hecho todas estas obras, dice Jehová, y bien que os hablé, madrugando para hablar, no oísteis, y os llamé, y no respondisteis;
14Haré también á esta casa sobre la cual es invocado mi nombre, en la que vosotros confiáis, y á este lugar que dí á vosotros y á vuestros padres, como hice á Silo:
15Que os echaré de mi presencia como eché á todos vuestros hermanos, á toda la generación de Ephraim.
16Tú pues, no ores por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración, ni me ruegues; porque no te oiré.
17¿No ves lo que estos hacen en las ciudades de Judá y en las calles de Jerusalem?
18Los hijos cogen la leña, y los padres encienden el fuego, y las mujeres amasan la masa, para hacer tortas á la reina del cielo y para hacer ofrendas á dioses ajenos, por provocarme á ira.
19¿Provocaránme ellos á ira, dice Jehová, y no más bien obran ellos mismos para confusión de sus rostros?
20Por tanto, así ha dicho el Señor Jehová: He aquí que mi furor y mi ira se derrama sobre este lugar, sobre los hombres, sobre los animales, y sobre los árboles del campo, y sobre los frutos de la tierra; y encenderáse, y no se apagará.
21Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Añadid vuestros holocaustos sobre vuestros sacrificios, y comed carne.
22Porque no hablé yo con vuestros padres, ni les mandé el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, acerca de holocaustos y de víctimas:
23Mas esto les mandé, diciendo: Escuchad mi voz, y seré á vosotros por Dios, y vosotros me seréis por pueblo; y andad en todo camino que os mandare, para que os vaya bien.
24Y no oyeron ni inclinaron su oído; antes caminaron en sus consejos, en la dureza de su corazón malvado, y fueron hacia atrás y no hacia adelante,
25Desde el día que vuestros padres salieron de la tierra de Egipto hasta hoy. Y os envié á todos los profetas mis siervos, cada día madrugando y enviándolos:
26Mas no me oyeron ni inclinaron su oído; antes endurecieron su cerviz, é hicieron peor que sus padres.
27Tú pues les dirás todas estas palabras, mas no te oirán; aun los llamarás, y no te responderán.
28Les dirás por tanto: Esta es la gente que no escuchó la voz de Jehová su Dios, ni tomó corrección; perdióse la fe, y de la boca de ellos fué cortada.
29Trasquila tu cabello, y arrójalo, y levanta llanto sobre las alturas; porque Jehová ha aborrecido y dejado la nación de su ira.
30Porque los hijos de Judá han hecho lo malo ante mis ojos, dice Jehová; pusieron sus abominaciones en la casa sobre la cual mi nombre fué invocado, amancillándola.
31Y han edificado los altos de Topheth, que es en el valle del hijo de Hinnom, para quemar al fuego sus hijos y sus hijas, cosa que yo no les mandé, ni subió en mi corazón.
32Por tanto, he aquí vendrán días, ha dicho Jehová, que no se diga más, Topheth, ni valle del hijo de Hinnom, sino Valle de la Matanza; y serán enterrados en Topheth, por no haber lugar.
33Y serán los cuerpos muertos de este pueblo para comida de las aves del cielo y de las bestias de la tierra; y no habrá quien las espante.
34Y haré cesar de las ciudades de Judá, y de la calles de Jerusalem, voz de gozo y voz de alegría, voz de esposo y voz de esposa; porque la tierra será en desolación.

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2Stand in the gate of the LORD’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.
3Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
4Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.
5For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;
6If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:
7Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.
8Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.
9Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
10And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?
11Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
12But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
13And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;
14Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
15And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.
16Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
17Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
18The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
19Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?
20Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
21Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.
22For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:
23But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
24But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
25Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
26Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
27Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.
28But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
29Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
31And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
32Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.
33And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.
34Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2“Stand in the gate of the LORD’s house, and proclaim this word there, and say, ‘Hear the LORD’s word, all you of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.’”
3The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel says, “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
4Don’t trust in lying words, saying, ‘The LORD’s temple, the LORD’s temple, the LORD’s temple, are these.’
5For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;
6if you don’t oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, and don’t shed innocent blood in this place, and don’t walk after other gods to your own hurt,
7then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from of old even forever more.
8Behold, you trust in lying words that can’t profit.

22For I didn’t speak to your fathers or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices;
23but this thing I commanded them, saying, ‘Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. Walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’
24But they didn’t listen or turn their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.
25Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.
26Yet they didn’t listen to me or incline their ear, but made their neck stiff. They did worse than their fathers.
27“You shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.
28You shall tell them, ‘This is the nation that has not listened to the LORD their God’s voice, nor received instruction. Truth has perished, and is cut off from their mouth.’
29Cut off your hair, and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
30“For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight,” says the LORD. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.
31They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I didn’t command, nor did it come into my mind.
32Therefore behold, the days come”, says the LORD, “that it will no more be called ‘Topheth’ or ‘The valley of the son of Hinnom’, but ‘The valley of Slaughter’; for they will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.
33The dead bodies of this people will be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth. No one will frighten them away.
34Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become a waste.”
