Recorred las calles de Jerusalén, mirad y observad, y buscad por sus plazas, a ver si halláis un hombre; uno solo que practique la justicia y busque la verdad; y Yo la perdonaré.
DISCURRID por las plazas de Jerusalem, y mirad ahora, y sabed, y buscad en sus plazas si halláis hombre, si hay alguno que haga juicio, que busque verdad; y yo la perdonaré.
Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

Pues aun cuando dicen: ¡Vive Yahvé!, no obstante ello juran en falso.
Y si dijeren: Vive Jehová; por tanto jurarán mentira.

¿No es la fidelidad, oh Yahvé, lo que buscan tus ojos? Tú los castigaste, y no les dolió; los consumiste, mas rechazaron la corrección; han hecho su cara más dura que la roca; no quisieron convertirse.
Oh Jehová, ¿no miran tus ojos á la verdad? Azotástelos, y no les dolió; consumístelos, y no quisieron recibir corrección; endurecieron sus rostros más que la piedra, no quisieron tornarse.
O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Entonces dije: “¡Ah! son solo los pobres, ellos son los insensatos, porque no conocen el camino de Yahvé, la ley de su Dios.
Yo empero dije: Por cierto ellos son pobres, enloquecido han, pues no conocen el camino de Jehová, el juicio de su Dios.
Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

Por eso los mata el león del bosque, los devora el lobo del desierto; y el leopardo está acechando en torno de sus ciudades; quien salga de ellas será despedazado: porque son muchos sus pecados y han aumentado sus apostasías.
Por tanto, león del monte los herirá, destruirálos lobo del desierto, tigre acechará sobre sus ciudades; cualquiera que de ellas saliere, será arrebatado: porque sus rebeliones se han multiplicado, hanse aumentado sus deslealtades.
Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.
“¿Cómo te podré perdonar esto? Tus hijos me han abandonado y juran por los que no son dioses: Los he saciado, mas ellos se entregan al adulterio, y se juntan en casa de la ramera.
¿Cómo te he de perdonar por esto? Sus hijos me dejaron, y juraron por lo que no es Dios. Saciélos, y adulteraron, y en casa de ramera se juntaron en compañías.
How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.

Caballos gordos que están en celo; relincha cada cual tras la mujer de su prójimo.
Como caballos bien hartos fueron á la mañana, cada cual relinchaba á la mujer de su prójimo.
They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.

¿No he de castigar Yo esto? dice Yahvé. ¿De una nación como esta no he de tomar venganza?
¿No había de hacer visitación sobre esto? dijo Jehová. De una gente como ésta ¿no se había de vengar mi alma?
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says the LORD. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Escalad sus muros, y destruid; mas no acabéis del todo con ellos; arrancad sus sarmientos, pues no son de Yahvé.

Porque la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá han apostatado de Mí, dice Yahvé.

They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

los profetas no son más que viento, y no tienen oráculos (de Dios). ¡Que estos caigan sobre ellos mismos!”
Antes los profetas serán como viento, y no hay en ellos palabra; así se hará á ellos.

Por esto, así dice Yahvé, el Dios de los ejércitos: “Por cuanto habéis dicho esto, mirad que hago de mis palabras un fuego, y este pueblo será la leña que los devore.
Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos: Porque hablasteis esta palabra, he aquí yo pongo en tu boca mis palabras por fuego, y á este pueblo por leños, y los consumirá.
Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

He aquí que voy a traer contra vosotros, oh casa de Israel, una nación lejana, dice Yahvé; un pueblo fuerte, un pueblo antiquísimo; un pueblo cuya lengua no conoces, y cuyas palabras no entiendes.
He aquí yo traigo sobre vosotros gente de lejos, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová; gente robusta, gente antigua, gente cuya lengua ignorarás, y no entenderás lo que hablare.
Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

Su aljaba es como sepulcro abierto; todos ellos son hombres valientes.

Devorarán tu cosecha y tu pan; devorarán a tus hijos y a tus hijas; devorarán tus rebaños y tus ganados; devorarán tus viñas y tus olivares; y destruirán a espada tus ciudades fuertes en que confías.
Y comerá tu mies y tu pan, que habían de comer tus hijos y tus hijas; comerá tus ovejas y tus vacas, comerá tus viñas y tus higueras; y tus ciudades fuertes en que tú confías, tornará en nada á cuchillo.
And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

Mas ni aun en aquellos días, dice Yahvé, acabaré del todo con vosotros.”

Y si os preguntareis: “¿Por qué Yahvé, nuestro Dios, ha traído todo esto sobre nosotros?” les responderás: “Como me habéis dejado a Mí sirviendo a dioses extraños en vuestra tierra así serviréis a los extranjeros en tierra no vuestra.”
Y será que cuando dijereis: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová el Dios nuestro con nosotros todas estas cosas? entonces les dirás: De la manera que me dejasteis á mí, y servisteis á dioses ajenos en vuestra tierra, así serviréis á extraños en tierra ajena.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
It will happen when you say, ‘Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’
Promulgad esto en la casa de Jacob, y pregonadlo en Judá, diciendo:

Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

“Escucha esto, pueblo insensato y sin cordura: Tienen ojos y no ven, tienen oídos y no oyen.
Oid ahora esto, pueblo necio y sin corazón, que tienen ojos y no ven, que tienen oídos y no oyen:
Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:
¿No me habéis de temer?, dice Yahvé; ¿no temblaréis delante de Mí, que puse al mar por término la arena, como límite perpetuo que no puede traspasar? Por más que se agiten sus olas, son impotentes, aunque se enfurezcan no podrán rebasarlo.”
¿A mí no temeréis? dice Jehová; ¿no os amedrentaréis á mi presencia, que al mar por ordenación eterna, la cual no quebrantará, puse arena por término? Se levantarán tempestades, mas no prevalecerán; bramarán sus ondas, mas no lo pasarán.
Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Mas este pueblo tiene un corazón rebelde y contumaz; han apostatado y se van.

But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

Y no dicen en su corazón: “Temamos a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, que nos da a su tiempo la lluvia temprana y la tardía, y nos concede las semanas destinadas a la cosecha.”
Y no dijeron en su corazón: Temamos ahora á Jehová Dios nuestro, que da lluvia temprana y tardía en su tiempo; los tiempos establecidos de la siega nos guarda.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Vuestras iniquidades han trastornado este orden, y vuestros pecados os han privado del bien.

Pues en mi pueblo hay malvados; ponen asechanzas como el pajarero que se agacha, arman trampas para cazar hombres.
Porque fueron hallados en mi pueblo impíos; acechaban como quien pone lazos; pusieron trampa para tomar hombres.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
For wicked men are found among my people. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men.
Como jaula llena de pájaros, así están sus casas llenas de fraude; así se han engrandecido y enriquecido.

Engordaron y brillan de gordura; sobresalen en maldad; no hacen justicia al huérfano —y sin embargo prosperan—, no hacen justicia a los pobres.

They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.
¿Y Yo no habré de castigar estas cosas? dice Yahvé. ¿De una nación como esta no he de tomar venganza?
¿No tengo de visitar sobre esto? dice Jehová; ¿y de tal gente no se vengará mi alma?

Cosa extraña y terrible acontece en la tierra:

A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

los profetas profetizan mentira, y los sacerdotes gobiernan según su antojo; y esto le gusta a mi pueblo. Pero ¿qué haréis cuando estas cosas lleguen a su fin?
Los profetas profetizaron mentira, y los sacerdotes dirigían por manos de ellos; y mi pueblo así lo quiso. ¿Qué pues haréis á su fin?
