1Willst du, Israel, umkehren, spricht der Herr, so darfst du zu mir zurück; und willst du deine Greuel wegtun, so musst du vor mir nicht fliehen.
2Und schwörst du: "So wahr der Herr lebt!" in Wahrheit, in Recht und Gerechtigkeit, so werden Völker mit seinem Namen sich segnen und seiner sich rühmen. (a) 5Mo 10:20
3Denn so spricht der Herr zu den Männern von Juda und zu den Bewohnern Jerusalems: Brechet euch einen Neubruch und säet nicht unter die Dornen! (a) Hos 10:12
4Beschneidet euch für den Herrn und entfernt die Vorhaut eures Herzens, ihr Männer von Juda und ihr Bewohner Jerusalems, damit nicht wie Feuer losbreche mein Grimm und brenne, dass niemand löschen kann, wegen eurer bösen Taten! (a) Jer 9:26; 5Mo 10:16; Rö 2:29; Kol 2:11
5TUT es kund in Juda, und in Jerusalem lasset es hören: Stosset ins Horn im Lande, rufet mit lauter Stimme: Schart euch zusammen! Auf und hinein in die festen Städte!
6Empor das Panier gen Zion, flüchtet, verweilet nicht! Denn Unheil führe ich heran von Norden und grosses Verderben. (a) Jer 1:14; 6:1 22; 10:22; 50:41
7Schon steigt aus seinem Dickicht herauf der Löwe, der Würger der Völker, bricht auf und kommt hervor aus seiner Stätte, dein Land zu verwüsten; deine Städte werden zerstört, dass niemand drin wohnt.
8Darum gürtet das Trauergewand um, wehklaget und heulet! Nicht hat sich von uns gewendet der glühende Zorn des Herrn. (a) Jer 2:35; 6:26
9An jenem Tage, spricht der Herr, da wird der Mut des Königs und der Mut der Fürsten vergehen; die Priester werden erstarren und die Propheten bestürzt sein.
10Und sie werden sprechen: Ach Herr, unser Gott, wahrlich, bitter getäuscht hast du dieses Volk und Jerusalem! Du sprachst: "Heil wird euch werden!" und nun geht das Schwert uns ans Leben.
11Zu jener Zeit wird man zu diesem Volk und zu Jerusalem sagen: Über heisse Wüstenhöhen kommt der Sturm an die Tochter meines Volkes; nicht zum Worfeln, nicht zum Säubern,
12wuchtig fährt mir der Sturm daher. Jetzt will auch ich mein Urteil über sie sprechen.
13Siehe, wie Wolken steigt's herauf, wie Windsbraut seine Wagen, schneller als Adler seine Rosse. Wehe uns, wir sind verloren!
14Wasche dein Herz rein von Bosheit, Jerusalem, dass dir Rettung werde! Wie lange noch soll wohnen in deinem Innern dein frevles Sinnen? (a) Jes 1:16
15Horch! von Dan her kommt Kunde, Unheilsbotschaft vom Gebirge Ephraim!
16Lasst die Völker es wissen, verkündet es über Jerusalem: Siehe, Panther kommen aus fernem Lande, laut brüllend wider die Städte Judas!
17Wie Feldhüter lagern sie rings um die Stadt her; denn wider mich hat sie sich empört, spricht der Herr.
18Dein Wandel und deine Taten haben dir solches bereitet. Das ist die Frucht deiner Bosheit, dass es nun so bitter steht und dir ans Herz greift. (a) Jer 2:17
19Ach, meine Brust, meine Brust! ich zittre! ihr Kammern des Herzens! Es stürmt in mir meine Seele, ich kann nicht schweigen. Denn Hörnerschall höre ich und Kriegsgeschrei.
20Es kommt Verderben über Verderben, das ganze Land ist verwüstet; jählings sind meine Hütten verheert, im Nu meine Zelte.
21Wie lange noch muss ich das Panier sehen, muss ich hören den Hörnerschall?
22Denn töricht ist mein Volk, mich kennen sie nicht; einfältige Kinder sind sie und unverständig. Weise sind sie, um Böses zu tun, aber Gutes zu tun verstehen sie nicht.
23Ich schaute auf die Erde - siehe da, lauter Öde! schaute auf zum Himmel - dahin war sein Licht!
24Ich schaute auf die Berge - siehe da, sie bebten, und die Hügel alle, sie wankten und schwankten!
25Ich schaute hin - siehe, da verschwanden die Menschen, und die Vögel des Himmels, sie alle entflohen!
26Ich schaute auf das Fruchtland - siehe da, die Wüste, und all seine Städte zerstört vor dem Herrn, vor seinem glühenden Zorn!
27Denn so spricht der Herr: Das ganze Land soll eine Wüstenei werden; doch will ich ihm nicht den Garaus machen. (a) Jer 5:10 18; 46:28
28Darob wird trauern die Erde, in Schwarz sich hüllen der Himmel droben; denn ich habe gesprochen und bereue nicht, ich habe beschlossen und kehre nicht um.
29Vor dem Lärm der Reiter und Bogenschützen flüchtet das ganze Land, sie gehen hinein ins Dickicht, steigen auf die Felsen; jede Stadt ist verlassen, kein Bewohner darin.
30Und du, vergewaltigtes Weib, was willst du tun? Magst du dich kleiden in Karmesin, dich schmücken mit Goldschmuck, gross machen die Augen mit Schminke - du machst dich umsonst schön! Dich verschmähen die Buhlen, sie begehren dein Leben.
31Denn Geschrei höre ich wie vom kreissenden Weibe, Angstruf wie von der werdenden Mutter, die Stimme der Tochter Zion, die ächzt und die Hände ausstreckt: "Wehe mir, es erliegt mein Leben den Mördern!"

1SI te has de convertir, oh Israel, dice Jehová, conviértete á mí; y si quitares de delante de mí tus abominaciones, no andarás de acá para allá.
2Y jurarás, diciendo, Vive Jehová, con verdad, con juicio, y con justicia: y bendecirse han en él las gentes, y en él se gloriarán.
3Porque así dice Jehová á todo varón de Judá y de Jerusalem: Haced barbecho para vosotros, y no sembréis sobre espinas.
4Circuncidaos á Jehová, y quitad los prepucios de vuestro corazón, varones de Judá y moradores de Jerusalem; no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien apague, por la malicia de vuestras obras.
5Denunciad en Judá, y haced oir en Jerusalem, y decid: Sonad trompeta en la tierra. Pregonad, juntad, y decid: Reuníos, y entrémonos en las ciudades fuertes.
6Alzad bandera en Sión, juntaos, no os detengáis; porque yo hago venir mal del aquilón, y quebrantamiento grande.
7El león sube de su guarida, y el destruidor de gentes ha partido; salido ha de su asiento para poner tu tierra en soledad; tus ciudades serán asoladas, y sin morador.
8Por esto vestíos de saco, endechad y aullad; porque la ira de Jehová no se ha apartado de nosotros.
9Y será en aquel día, dice Jehová, que desfallecerá el corazón del rey, y el corazón de los príncipes, y los sacerdotes estarán atónitos, y se maravillarán los profetas.
10Y dije: ¡Ay, ay, Jehová Dios! verdaderamente en gran manera has engañado á este pueblo y á Jerusalem, diciendo, Paz tendréis; pues que el cuchillo ha venido hasta el alma.
11En aquel tiempo se dirá de este pueblo y de Jerusalem: Viento seco de las alturas del desierto vino á la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar.
12Viento más vehemente que estos vendrá á mí: y ahora yo hablaré juicios con ellos.
13He aquí que subirá como nube, y su carro como torbellino: más ligeros con sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos á saco!
14Lava de la malicia tu corazón, oh Jerusalem, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo dejarás estar en medio de ti los pensamientos de iniquidad?
15Porque la voz se oye del que trae las nuevas desde Dan, y del que hace oir la calamidad desde el monte de Ephraim.
16Decid á las gentes; he aquí, haced oir sobre Jerusalem: Guardas vienen de tierra lejana, y darán su voz sobre las ciudades de Judá.
17Como las guardas de las heredades, estuvieron sobre ella en derredor, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice Jehová.
18Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto, ésta tu maldad: por lo cual amargura penetrará hasta tu corazón.
19¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las telas de mi corazón: mi corazón ruge dentro de mí; no callaré; porque voz de trompeta has oído, oh alma mía, pregón de guerra.
20Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento es llamado; porque toda la tierra es destruída: en un punto son destruídas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.
21¿Hasta cuándo tengo de ver bandera, tengo de oir voz de trompeta?
22Porque mi pueblo es necio; no me conocieron los hijos ignorantes y los no entendidos; sabios para mal hacer, y para bien hacer no supieron.
23Miré la tierra, y he aquí que estaba asolada y vacía; y los cielos, y no había en ellos luz.
24Miré los montes, y he aquí que temblaban, y todos los collados fueron destruídos.
25Miré, y no parecía hombre, y todas las aves del cielo se habían ido.
26Miré, y he aquí el Carmelo desierto, y todas sus ciudades eran asoladas á la presencia de Jehová, á la presencia del furor de su ira.
27Porque así dijo Jehová: Toda la tierra será asolada; mas no haré consumación.
28Por esto se enlutará la tierra, y los cielos arriba se oscurecerán, porque hablé, pensé, y no me arrepentí, ni me tornaré de ello.
29Del estruendo de la gente de á caballo y de los flecheros huyó toda la ciudad; entráronse en las espesuras de los bosques, y subiéronse en peñascos; todas las ciudades fueron desamparadas, y no quedó en ellas morador alguno.
30Y tú, destruída, ¿qué harás? Bien que te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; menospreciáronte los amadores, buscarán tu alma.
31Porque voz oí como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; voz de la hija de Sión que lamenta y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí! que mi alma desmaya á causa de los matadores.

1If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
2And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
3For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
4Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
6Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
7The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
8For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
9And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
10Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
11At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
12Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
13Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
14O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
15For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.
16Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
17As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
18Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
19My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
21How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
23I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
27For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
28For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
29The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
30And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
31For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.

1“If you will return, Israel,” says the LORD, “if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you will not be removed;
2and you will swear, ‘As the LORD lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations will bless themselves in him, and they will glory in him.”
3For the LORD says to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and don’t sow among thorns.
4Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, ‘Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say, ‘Assemble yourselves! Let’s go into the fortified cities!’
6Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.”
7A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has gone out from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.
8For this, clothe yourself with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of the LORD hasn’t turned back from us.
9“It will happen at that day,” says the LORD, “that the heart of the king will perish, along with the heart of the princes. The priests will be astonished, and the prophets will wonder.”
10Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You will have peace;’ whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”
11At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind blows from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse.
12A full wind from these will come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”
13Behold, he will come up as clouds, and his chariots will be as the whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! For we are ruined.
14Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?
15For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:
16“Tell the nations, behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.
17As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says the LORD.
18“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness, for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”
19My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart! My heart trembles within me. I can’t hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20Destruction on destruction is decreed, for the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are destroyed, and my curtains gone in a moment.
21How long will I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22“For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”
23I saw the earth and, behold, it was waste and void, and the heavens, and they had no light.
24I saw the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.
25I saw, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky had fled.
26I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD, before his fierce anger.
27For the LORD says, “The whole land will be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.
28For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black, because I have spoken it. I have planned it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.”
29Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers. They go into the thickets and climb up on the rocks. Every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.
30You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with makeup, you make yourself beautiful in vain. Your lovers despise you. They seek your life.
31For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who gives birth to her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”
