1Das Wort des Herrn, das an den Propheten Jeremia wider die Philister erging, ehe der Pharao Gaza schlug. (a) Jes 14:29-32; Hes 25:15-17; Am 1:6-8
2So spricht der Herr: Siehe, Wasser steigen an von Norden her und werden zum überflutenden Wildbach, überfluten das Land und was darin ist, die Stadt und die darin wohnen. Da schreien die Menschen, wehklagen alle Bewohner der Erde.
3Ob dem dröhnenden Stampfen der Rossehufe, ob dem Wagengetöse und Räderrasseln sehen sich die Väter nicht einmal nach den Kindern um, so schlaff sind die Hände
4wegen des Tages, der kommt, das ganze Philisterland zu verheeren, Tyrus und Sidon jeden noch übriggebliebenen Helfer zu nehmen; denn der Herr will die Philister verheeren, den Überrest des Gestades von Kaphthor.
5Gaza muss sich kahl scheren, Askalon wird vernichtet. Du Überrest der Enakiter, wie lange wirst du dich wundritzen müssen! (a) Zef 2:4; Sac 9:5
6Ha, Schwert des Herrn, wann endlich kommst du zur Ruhe? Kehre zurück in die Scheide, raste und halte dich still!
7Wie könnte es ruhen, da doch der Herr ihm Befehl gab? Nach Askalon und ans Gestade des Meeres, dorthin hat er es entboten.

1PALABRA de Jehová que fué á Jeremías profeta acerca de los Palestinos, antes que Faraón hiriese á Gaza.
2Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que suben aguas del aquilón, y tornaránse en torrente, é inundarán la tierra y su plenitud, ciudades y moradores de ellas; y los hombres clamarán, y aullará todo morador de la tierra.
3Por el sonido de las uñas de sus fuertes, por el alboroto de sus carros, por el estruendo de sus ruedas, los padres no miraron á los hijos por la flaqueza de las manos;
4A causa del día que viene para destrucción de todos los Palestinos, para talar á Tiro, y á Sidón, á todo ayudador que quedó vivo: porque Jehová destruirá á los Palestinos, al resto de la isla de Caphtor.
5Sobre Gaza vino mesadura, Ascalón fué cortada, y el resto de su valle: ¿hasta cuándo te arañarás?
6Oh espada de Jehová, ¿hasta cuándo no reposarás? Métete en tu vaina, reposa y sosiega.
7¿Cómo reposarás? pues que Jehová lo ha enviado contra Ascalón, y á la ribera de la mar, allí lo puso.

1The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.
2Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.
5Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?
6O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
7How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.

1The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.
2The LORD says: “Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.
3At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers don’t look back for their children because their hands are so feeble,
4because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; for the LORD will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?
6“‘You sword of the LORD, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself back into your scabbard; rest, and be still.’
7“How can you be quiet, since the LORD has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there he has appointed it.”
