1Im siebenten Monat aber kam Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, des Sohnes Elisamas, der aus königlichem Geschlechte war, in Begleitung von zehn Männern zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, nach Mizpa, und sie speisten daselbst mit ihm zusammen in Mizpa.
2Und es erhoben sich Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, und die zehn Männer, die bei ihm waren, und ermordeten Gedalja, den der König von Babel zum Statthalter im Land eingesetzt hatte,
3sowie alle die Judäer, die zu Mizpa bei ihm waren, und die Chaldäer, die sich dort befanden.
4Am zweiten Tage nach der Ermordung Gedaljas, als noch niemand Kunde davon erhalten hatte,
5kamen Leute von Sichem, von Silo und Samarien, achtzig Mann, mit abgeschorenen Bärten und zerrissenen Kleidern und mit Einritzungen bedeckt, die Speisopfer und Weihrauch bei sich hatten, um sie zum Tempel Jahwes zu bringen.
6Da ging ihnen Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, von Mizpa aus entgegen, indem er beständig beim Gehen weinte, und als er auf sie traf, sprach er zu ihnen: Kommt herein zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams!
7Sobald sie aber in die Stadt hineingekommen waren, metzelte er sie nieder und warf sie hinein in die Cisterne.
8Es waren aber zehn Männer unter ihnen, die sprachen zu Ismael: Töte uns nicht, denn wir besitzen Vorräte auf dem Felde, Weizen und Gerste, Öl und Honig! Da ließ er von ihnen ab und tötete sie nicht zugleich mit ihren Landsleuten.
9Die Cisterne aber, in die Ismael alle Leichname der von ihm erschlagenen Männer warf, das war die große Cisterne, die der König Asa zum Behufe der Verteidigung gegen Baesa, den König von Israel, angelegt hatte: die füllte Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, mit Erschlagenen an.
10Darauf führte Ismael den gesamten Überrest des Volks, der sich zu Mizpa befand, die Prinzessinnen und das gesamte Volk, die in Mizpa übrig geblieben waren, die Nebusar-Adan, der Oberste der Leibwächter, Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, unterstellt hatte, - die führte Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, gefangen hinweg und zog ab, um zu den Ammonitern hinüberzugehen.
11Als aber Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, und alle Heeresobersten, die bei ihm waren, von all' dem Unheil, das Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, angerichtet hatte, Kunde erhielten,
12nahmen sie alle ihre Leute und machten sich auf, um mit Ismael, dem Sohne Nethanjas, zu kämpfen, und sie trafen auf ihn an dem großen Wasserteiche bei Gibeon.
13Sobald aber alle die, welche bei Ismael waren, Johanan, den Sohn Kareahs, nebst allen den Heeresobersten, die bei ihm waren, erblickten, freuten sie sich,
14und alle die, welche Ismael aus Mizpa weggeführt hatte, wandten sich, machten Kehrt und gingen zu Johanan, dem Sohne Kareahs, über;
15Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, indes entkam mit acht Männern dem Johanan und gelangte zu den Ammonitern.
16Sodann nahm Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, mit allen Heeresobersten, die bei ihm waren, den gesamten Überrest des Volks, den Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, aus Mizpa weggeführt hatte, nachdem er Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, ermordet hatte, Männer, Weiber und Kinder und Hämlinge, die er von Gibeon zurückgebracht hatte,
17und sie brachen auf und machten Halt in dem seitwärts von Bethlehem gelegenen Geruth-Kimham, um alsdann weiter nach Ägypten zu ziehen,
18wegen der Chaldäer; denn sie hatten Furcht vor ihnen, weil Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, den der König von Babel zum Statthalter im Lande eingesetzt, ermordet hatte.

1Y ACONTECIÓ en el mes séptimo, que vino Ismael hijo de Nethanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente real, y algunos príncipes del rey, y diez hombres con él, á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam en Mizpa; y comieron pan juntos allí en Mizpa.
2Y levantóse Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y los diez hombres que con él estaban, é hirieron á cuchillo á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, matando así á aquel á quien el rey de Babilonia había puesto sobre la tierra.
3Asimismo hirió Ismael á todos los Judíos que estaban con él, con Gedalías en Mizpa, y á los soldados Caldeos que allí se hallaron.
4Sucedió además, un día después que mató á Gedalías, cuando nadie lo sabía aún,
5Que venían unos hombres de Sichêm y de Silo y de Samaria, ochenta hombres, raída la barba, y rotas las ropas, y arañados, y traían en sus manos ofrenda y perfume para llevar á la casa de Jehová.
6Y de Mizpa salióles al encuentro, llorando, Ismael hijo de Nethanías: y aconteció que como los encontró, díjoles: Venid á Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam.
7Y fué que cuando llegaron al medio de la ciudad, Ismael hijo de Nethanías los degolló, y echólos en medio de un aljibe, él y los hombres que con él estaban.
8Mas entre aquellos fueron hallados diez hombres que dijeron á Ismael: No nos mates; porque tenemos en el campo tesoros de trigos, y cebadas, y aceite, y miel. Y dejólos, y no los mató entre sus hermanos.
9Y el aljibe en que echó Ismael todos los cuerpos de los hombres que hirió por causa de Gedalías, era el mismo que había hecho el rey Asa por causa de Baasa, rey de Israel: llenólo de muertos Ismael, hijo de Nethanías.
10Después llevó Ismael cautivo á todo el resto del pueblo que estaba en Mizpa; á las hijas del rey, y á todo el pueblo que en Mizpa había quedado, el cual había Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia encargado á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam. Llevólos pues cautivos Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y se fué para pasarse á los hijos de Ammón.
11Y oyó Johanán hijo de Carea, y todos los príncipes de la gente de guerra que estaban con él, todo el mal que había hecho Ismael, hijo de Nethanías.
12Entonces tomaron todos los hombres, y fueron á pelear con Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y halláronlo junto á Aguas-muchas, que es en Gabaón.
13Y aconteció que como todo el pueblo que estaba con Ismael vió á Johanán hijo de Carea, y á todos los príncipes de la gente de guerra que estaban con él, se alegraron.
14Y todo el pueblo que Ismael había traído cautivo de Mizpa, tornáronse, y volvieron, y fuéronse á Johanán hijo de Carea.
15Mas Ismael hijo de Nethanías se escapó delante de Johanán con ocho hombres, y se fué á los hijos de Ammón.
16Y Johanán hijo de Carea, y todos los príncipes de la gente de guerra que con él estaban, tomaron todo el resto del pueblo que habían recobrado de Ismael hijo de Nethanías, de Mizpa, después que hirió á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam: hombres de guerra, y mujeres, y niños, y los eunucos que Johanán había hecho tornar de Gabaón;
17Y fueron y habitaron en Geruth-chimham, que es cerca de Bethlehem, á fin de partir y meterse en Egipto,
18Por causa de los Caldeos: porque temían de ellos, por haber herido Ismael hijo de Nethanías á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, al cual el rey de Babilonia había puesto sobre la tierra.

1Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.
2Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
3Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.
4And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
5That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
6And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
7And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
8But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.
9Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
10Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.
11But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,
12Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.
13Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.
14So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
15But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
16Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:
17And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to go to enter into Egypt,
18Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.

1Now in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring and one of the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.
2Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
3Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldean men of war who were found there.
4The second day after he had killed Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
5men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even eighty men, having their beards shaved and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with meal offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to the LORD’s house.
6Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went, and as he met them, he said to them, “Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.”
7It was so, when they came into the middle of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them, and cast them into the middle of the pit, he, and the men who were with him.
8But ten men were found among those who said to Ishmael, “Don’t kill us; for we have stores hidden in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey.” So he stopped, and didn’t kill them among their brothers.
9Now the pit in which Ishmael cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had killed, by the side of Gedaliah (this was that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel), Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were killed.
10Then Ishmael carried away captive all of the people who were left in Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people who remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
