1(Dies ist) das Wort, das vom HERRN an Jeremia erging, nachdem Nebusaradan, der Befehlshaber der Leibwache, ihn von Rama aus entlassen hatte, wo er ihn, und zwar mit Ketten gefesselt, ausfindig gemacht hatte inmitten aller gefangenen Bewohner Jerusalems und Judas, die nach Babylon weggeführt werden sollten.
2Als nämlich der Befehlshaber der Leibwache den Jeremia dort ausfindig gemacht hatte, sagte er zu ihm: »Der HERR, dein Gott, hatte diesem Ort dieses Unglück angedroht,
3und der HERR hat es nun auch eintreten lassen und seine Drohung zur Ausführung gebracht: weil ihr gegen den HERRN gesündigt und auf seine Weisung nicht gehört habt, darum ist es euch so ergangen.
4Und nun, siehe: ich mache dich jetzt frei von den Ketten an deinen Händen. Gefällt es dir, mit mir nach Babylon zu gehen, so komm: ich werde Sorge für dich tragen; hast du aber keine Lust, mit mir nach Babylon zu gehen, so laß es! Wisse wohl: das ganze Land steht dir offen: du kannst gehen, wohin es dir beliebt und gut dünkt!«
5Als Jeremia sich dann nicht sofort entschließen konnte, fuhr er fort: »So kehre doch zurück zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, den der König von Babylon zum Statthalter über die Städte von Juda eingesetzt hat, und bleibe bei ihm inmitten des Volkes wohnen; oder gehe, wohin du sonst Lust hast!« Hierauf gab ihm der Befehlshaber der Leibwache Lebensmittel und ein Geschenk und entließ ihn.
6Jeremia begab sich dann nach Mizpa zu Gedalja, dem Sohne Ahikams, und blieb dort bei ihm inmitten des Volkes, das im Lande übriggeblieben war.
7Als nun alle Truppenführer, die sich mit ihren Mannschaften noch im offenen Lande befanden, erfuhren, daß der König von Babylon Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, zum Statthalter über das Land eingesetzt und ihm die Obhut über Männer, Frauen und Kinder und über die geringen Leute im Lande, die nicht nach Babylon weggeführt worden waren, anvertraut habe,
8da kamen sie zu Gedalja nach Mizpa, nämlich Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, sowie Johanan und Jonathan, die Söhne Kareahs, ferner Seraja, der Sohn Thanhumeths, die Söhne Ophais aus Netopha, und Jesanja, der Sohn des Maachathiters, samt ihren Leuten.
9Da richtete Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, an sie und ihre Leute unter feierlicher Anrufung Gottes folgende Ansprache: »Fürchtet euch nicht davor, den Chaldäern untertan zu sein! Bleibt im Lande wohnen und unterwerft euch dem König von Babylon: ihr werdet euch gut dabei stehen!
10Seht, ich selbst bleibe hier in Mizpa, um euch vor den Chaldäern, die zu uns kommen werden, zu vertreten; ihr aber mögt Wein, Obst und Öl sammeln und in euren Behältern einheimsen und könnt ruhig in euren Ortschaften wohnen, die ihr in Besitz genommen habt!«
11Ebenso erhielten alle Judäer, die sich in Moab und unter den Ammonitern sowie in Edom und in allen übrigen Ländern aufhielten, Kunde davon, daß der König von Babylon einen Rest (der Bevölkerung) in Juda übriggelassen und daß er Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, über ihn als Statthalter eingesetzt habe.
12Da kehrten alle diese Judäer aus allen Gegenden, wohin sie versprengt worden waren, zurück und kamen ins Land Juda zu Gedalja nach Mizpa; sie hatten dann eine reiche Wein- und Obsternte.
13Als aber Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, und alle Truppenführer, die noch im offenen Lande gestanden hatten, zu Gedalja nach Mizpa gekommen waren,
14sagten sie zu ihm: »Weißt du wohl, daß Baalis, der König der Ammoniter, den Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, abgesandt hat, um dich zu ermorden?« Doch Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, schenkte ihnen keinen Glauben.
15Darauf besprach sich Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, heimlich mit Gedalja in Mizpa und sagte: »Laß mich doch hingehen und Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, erschlagen: kein Mensch soll etwas davon erfahren! Warum soll er dich ermorden, so daß alle Judäer, die sich hier bei dir gesammelt haben, wieder zerstreut werden und der letzte Rest von Juda zugrunde geht?«
16Aber Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, antwortete Johanan, dem Sohne Kareahs: »Du darfst das nicht tun; denn was du da von Ismael sagst, ist nicht wahr!«

1PALABRA que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, después que Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia le envió desde Ramá, cuando le tomó estando atado con esposas entre toda la transmigración de Jerusalem y de Judá que iban cautivos á Babilonia.
2Tomó pues el capitán de la guardia á Jeremías, y díjole: Jehová tu Dios habló este mal contra este lugar;
3Y halo traído y hecho Jehová según que había dicho: porque pecasteis contra Jehová, y no oísteis su voz, por eso os ha venido esto.
4Y ahora yo te he soltado hoy de las esposas que tenías en tus manos. Si te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, ven, y yo miraré por ti; mas si no te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, déjalo: mira, toda la tierra está delante de ti; ve á donde mejor y más cómodo te pareciere ir.
5Y aun no se había él vuelto, cuando le dijo: Vuélvete á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, al cual el rey de Babilonia ha puesto sobre todas las ciudades de Judá, y vive con él en medio del pueblo: ó ve á donde te pareciere más cómodo de ir. Y dióle el capitán de la guardia presentes y dones, y despidióle.
6Fuése entonces Jeremías á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, á Mizpa, y moró con él en medio del pueblo que había quedado en la tierra.
7Y como oyeron todos los príncipes del ejército que estaba por el campo, ellos y sus hombres, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam sobre la tierra, y que le había encomendado los hombres, y las mujeres, y los niños, y los pobres de la tierra, que no fueron trasportados á Babilonia;
8Vinieron luego á Gedalías en Mizpa, es á saber, Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y Johanán y Jonathán hijos de Carea, y Seraías hijo de Tanhumeth, y los hijos de Ephi Netophatita, y Jezanías hijo de Maachâti, ellos y sus hombres.
9Y juróles Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, á ellos y á sus hombres, diciendo: No tengáis temor de servir á los Caldeos: habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y tendréis bien.
10Y he aquí que yo habito en Mizpa, para estar delante de los Caldeos que vendrán á nosotros; mas vosotros, coged el vino, y el pan, y el aceite, y ponedlo en vuestros almacenes, y quedaos en vuestras ciudades que habéis tomado.
11Asimismo todos los Judíos que estaban en Moab, y entre los hijos de Ammón, y en Edom, y los que estaban en todas las tierras, cuando oyeron decir como el rey de Babilonia había dejado algunos en la Judea, y que había puesto sobre ellos á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán,
12Todos estos Judíos tornaron entonces de todas las partes adonde habían sido echados, y vinieron á tierra de Judá, á Gedalías en Mizpa; y cogieron vino y muy muchos frutos.
13Y Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos los príncipes de la gente de guerra que estaban en el campo, vinieron á Gedalías en Mizpa,
14Y dijéronle: ¿No sabes de cierto como Baalis, rey de los hijos de Ammón, ha enviado á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, para matarte? Mas Gedalías hijo de Ahicam no los creyó.
15Entonces Johanán hijo de Carea habló á Gedalías en secreto, en Mizpa, diciendo: Yo iré ahora, y heriré á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y hombre no lo sabrá: ¿por qué te ha de matar, y todos los Judíos que se han recogido á ti se derramarán, y perecerá el resto de Judá?
16Pero Gedalías hijo de Ahicam dijo á Johanán hijo de Carea: No hagas esto, porque falso es lo que tú dices de Ismael.

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

2The captain of the guard took Jeremiah and said to him, “The LORD your God pronounced this evil on this place;
3and the LORD has brought it, and done according as he spoke. Because you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.
4Now, behold, I release you today from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. Where it seems good and right to you to go, go there.”

9Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, “Don’t be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who will come to us; but you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken.”
11Likewise when all the Jews who were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,

15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”
16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely of Ishmael.”
