1UND an Stelle Chonjas, des Sohnes Jojakims, wurde Zedekia König, der Sohn Josias; Nebukadrezar, der König von Babel, hatte ihn zum König über das Land Juda gemacht. (1) d.i. Jojachins. (a) 2Kön 24:17
2Aber weder er noch seine Diener, noch das Volk des Landes hörten auf die Worte, die der Herr durch den Propheten Jeremia redete.
3Nun sandte einst der König Zedekia den Juchal, den Sohn Selemjas, und den Priester Zephanja, den Sohn Maasejas, zum Propheten Jeremia und liess ihm sagen: Bete doch für uns zum Herrn, unserm Gott!
4Damals aber ging Jeremia noch frei ein und aus unter dem Volke; man hatte ihn noch nicht ins Gefängnis gelegt.
5Das Heer des Pharao war nämlich von Ägypten aufgebrochen, und die Chaldäer, die Jerusalem belagerten, waren auf diese Kunde hin von Jerusalem abgezogen.
6Da erging das Wort des Herrn an den Propheten Jeremia also:
7So spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels: Dies sollt ihr dem König von Juda antworten, der euch zu mir gesandt hat, mich zu befragen: Siehe, das Heer des Pharao, das ausgezogen ist, euch zu helfen, wird in sein Land, nach Ägypten, zurückkehren.
8Die Chaldäer aber werden wieder kommen und gegen diese Stadt streiten, werden sie einnehmen und verbrennen. (a) Jer 34:22
9So spricht der Herr: Betrügt euch nicht selbst, indem ihr denkt: "Gewiss ziehen jetzt die Chaldäer von uns ab." Nein, sie werden nicht abziehen!
10Und wenn ihr gleich das ganze Heer der Chaldäer, die wider euch streiten, schlüget und es blieben von ihnen nur etliche Verwundete übrig, ein jeder in seinem Zelte - sie würden aufstehen und diese Stadt verbrennen.
11Als nun das Heer der Chaldäer wegen des Heeres des Pharao von Jerusalem abgezogen war,
12verliess Jeremia Jerusalem, um ins Land Benjamin zu gehen und dort eine Erbangelegenheit in der Familie zu ordnen. (a) Jer 32:8
13Wie er aber ins Benjamintor kam, war da ein Wachtoffizier namens Jeria, Sohn Selemjas, des Sohnes Hananjas; der nahm den Propheten Jeremia fest und sprach: Du willst zu den Chaldäern überlaufen!
14Jeremia erwiderte: Du lügst! Ich laufe nicht zu den Chaldäern über. Aber Jeria hörte nicht auf ihn; er nahm den Jeremia fest und führte ihn vor die Fürsten.
15Und die Fürsten ergrimmten über Jeremia und schlugen ihn und legten ihn ins Gefängnis im Hause des Kanzlers Jonathan; dieses hatte man nämlich zum Kerker gemacht.
16So kam denn Jeremia in das Brunnenhaus, in die Gewölbe, und dort sass er lange Zeit.
17Nun sandte einst der König Zedekia hin und liess ihn holen. Und der König fragte ihn heimlich in seinem Palast: Hast du ein Wort vom Herrn? Jeremia antwortete: Ja! Du wirst in die Hand des Königs von Babel gegeben werden.
18Dann sprach Jeremia zum König Zedekia: Womit habe ich mich an dir, an deinen Dienern und an diesem Volk vergangen, dass ihr mich ins Gefängnis gelegt habt?
19Und wo sind eure Propheten, die euch geweissagt haben, der König von Babel werde nicht über euch und über dieses Land kommen?
20Und nun höre doch, mein Herr und König! Lass mein Flehen bei dir eine Stätte finden und schicke mich nicht wieder in das Haus des Kanzlers Jonathan; ich würde dort sterben.
21Da gab der König Zedekia Befehl, und man verwahrte Jeremia im Wachthof und gab ihm täglich einen Brotfladen aus der Bäckergasse, bis alles Brot in der Stadt aufgegessen war. So blieb denn Jeremia im Wachthof. (a) Jer 32:2

1Y REINÓ el rey Sedechîas hijo de Josías, en lugar de Conías hijo de Joacim, al cual Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había constituído por rey en la tierra de Judá.
2Mas no obedeció él, ni sus siervos, ni el pueblo de la tierra á las palabras de Jehová, que dijo por el profeta Jeremías.
3Y envió el rey Sedechîas á Jucal hijo de Selemías, y á Sephanías hijo de Maasías sacerdote, para que dijesen al profeta Jeremías: Ruega ahora por nosotros á Jehová nuestro Dios.
4Y Jeremías entraba y salía en medio del pueblo; porque no lo habían puesto en la casa de la cárcel.
5Y como el ejército de Faraón hubo salido de Egipto, y vino la fama de ellos á oídos de los Caldeos que tenían cercada á Jerusalem, partiéronse de Jerusalem.
6Entonces fué palabra de Jehová á Jeremías profeta, diciendo:
7Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Diréis así al rey de Judá, que os envió á mí para que me preguntaseis: He aquí que el ejército de Faraón que había salido en vuestro socorro, se volvió á su tierra en Egipto.
8Y tornarán los Caldeos, y combatirán esta ciudad, y la tomarán, y la pondrán á fuego.
9Así ha dicho Jehová: No engañéis vuestras almas, diciendo: Sin duda los Caldeos se han ido de nosotros: porque no se irán.
10Porque aun cuando hirieseis todo el ejército de los Caldeos que pelean con vosotros, y quedasen de ellos hombres alanceados, cada uno se levantará de su tienda, y pondrán esta ciudad á fuego.
11Y aconteció que, como el ejército de los Caldeos se fué de Jerusalem á causa del ejército de Faraón,
12Salíase de Jerusalem Jeremías para irse á tierra de Benjamín, para apartarse de allí en medio del pueblo.
13Y cuando fué á la puerta de Benjamín, estaba allí un prepósito que se llamaba Irías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, el cual prendió á Jeremías profeta, diciendo: Tú te retiras á los Caldeos.
14Y Jeremías dijo: Falso: no me retiro á los Caldeos. Mas él no lo escuchó, antes prendió Irías á Jeremías, y llevólo delante de los príncipes.
15Y los príncipes se airaron contra Jeremías, y azotáronle, y pusiéronle en prisión en la casa de Jonathán escriba, porque aquélla habían hecho casa de cárcel.
16Entró pues Jeremías en la casa de la mazmorra, y en las camarillas. Y habiendo estado allá Jeremías por muchos días,
17El rey Sedechîas envió, y sacóle; y preguntóle el rey escondidamente en su casa, y dijo: ¿Hay palabra de Jehová? Y Jeremías dijo: Hay. Y dijo más: En mano del rey de Babilonia serás entregado.
18Dijo también Jeremías al rey Sedechîas: ¿En qué pequé contra ti, y contra tus siervos, y contra este pueblo, para que me pusieseis en la casa de la cárcel?
19¿Y dónde están vuestros profetas que os profetizaban, diciendo: No vendrá el rey de Babilonia contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra?
20Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.
21Entonces dió orden el rey Sedechîas, y depositaron á Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, haciéndole dar una torta de pan al día, de la plaza de los Panaderos, hasta que todo el pan de la ciudad se gastase. Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.

1And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
3And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.
5Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
6Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
10For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
13And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
14Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
16When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
17Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
19Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

1Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the LORD’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
3Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “Pray now to the LORD our God for us.”
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not put him into prison.
5Pharaoh’s army had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
6Then the LORD’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.
8The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’
9“The LORD says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.
10For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”
11When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the middle of the people.
13When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
14Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
16When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
17then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
18Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
19Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?
20Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
