Y REINÓ el rey Sedechîas hijo de Josías, en lugar de Conías hijo de Joacim, al cual Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había constituído por rey en la tierra de Judá.

Y envió el rey Sedechîas á Jucal hijo de Selemías, y á Sephanías hijo de Maasías sacerdote, para que dijesen al profeta Jeremías: Ruega ahora por nosotros á Jehová nuestro Dios.

Alors la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie, le prophète, en ces mots :

Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël : Ainsi parlez au roi de Juda qui vous envoie vers moi pour me consulter : Voici, l'armée de Pharaon qui s'avance à votre secours, retournera dans son pays, en Egypte ;
Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Diréis así al rey de Judá, que os envió á mí para que me preguntaseis: He aquí que el ejército de Faraón que había salido en vuestro socorro, se volvió á su tierra en Egipto.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.
et les Chaldéens reviendront assiéger cette ville, et ils la prendront, et la brûleront par le feu.
Y tornarán los Caldeos, y combatirán esta ciudad, y la tomarán, y la pondrán á fuego.
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.

Ainsi parle l'Éternel : Ne vous abusez pas vous-mêmes en disant : Les Chaldéens vont s'éloigner de nous ! car ils ne s'en iront point.
Así ha dicho Jehová: No engañéis vuestras almas, diciendo: Sin duda los Caldeos se han ido de nosotros: porque no se irán.

Car eussiez-vous défait toute l'armée des Chaldéens qui vous assiègent, et ne restât-il d'eux que des hommes percés, ils se lèveront chacun de leur tente, et brûleront cette ville par le feu.

Jérémie sortit de Jérusalem, pour se rendre dans le pays de Benjamin, afin d'y recueillir un héritage, au milieu du peuple.
Salíase de Jerusalem Jeremías para irse á tierra de Benjamín, para apartarse de allí en medio del pueblo.

Y cuando fué á la puerta de Benjamín, estaba allí un prepósito que se llamaba Irías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, el cual prendió á Jeremías profeta, diciendo: Tú te retiras á los Caldeos.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
Et Jérémie dit : C'est une fausseté ! je ne passe point aux Chaldéens. Mais Jérija, sans l'écouter, arrêta Jérémie et le conduisit aux princes.
Y Jeremías dijo: Falso: no me retiro á los Caldeos. Mas él no lo escuchó, antes prendió Irías á Jeremías, y llevólo delante de los príncipes.
Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

Y los príncipes se airaron contra Jeremías, y azotáronle, y pusiéronle en prisión en la casa de Jonathán escriba, porque aquélla habían hecho casa de cárcel.

le roi Sédécias envoya et le fit chercher. Et le roi l'interrogea dans sa maison en secret et lui dit : Y a-t-il une parole de par l'Éternel ? Et Jérémie dit : Il y en a une. Et il dit : Tu seras livré entre les mains du roi de Babel.
El rey Sedechîas envió, y sacóle; y preguntóle el rey escondidamente en su casa, y dijo: ¿Hay palabra de Jehová? Y Jeremías dijo: Hay. Y dijo más: En mano del rey de Babilonia serás entregado.
Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

Et Jérémie dit au roi Sédécias : En quoi ai-je péché contre toi ou tes serviteurs ou ce peuple, que vous m'avez mis en prison ?
Dijo también Jeremías al rey Sedechîas: ¿En qué pequé contra ti, y contra tus siervos, y contra este pueblo, para que me pusieseis en la casa de la cárcel?
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
Et où sont vos prophètes qui vous prophétisaient disant : Le roi de Babel ne marchera pas contre vous, ni contre ce pays ?
¿Y dónde están vuestros profetas que os profetizaban, diciendo: No vendrá el rey de Babilonia contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra?
Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?
Et maintenant, écoute, ô roi, mon Seigneur, je t'en prie, reçois mon humble prière, et ne me fais pas rentrer dans la maison de Jonathan, le scribe, pour que je n'y meure pas !
Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
Alors le roi Sédécias ordonna qu'on déposât Jérémie dans le vestibule de la prison, et qu'on lui donnât chaque jour un pain de la rue des boulangers, jusqu'à ce que tout le pain fût consommé dans la ville. Ainsi Jérémie demeura dans le vestibule de la prison.
Entonces dió orden el rey Sedechîas, y depositaron á Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, haciéndole dar una torta de pan al día, de la plaza de los Panaderos, hasta que todo el pan de la ciudad se gastase. Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
