Jeremías 37

1Ora, Zedequias, filho de Josias, reinou no lugar de Joaquim, filho de Jeoaquim. Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, fez Zedequias rei sob a terra de Judá.
2Mas Zedequias, seus servos, e o povo da terra não escutaram as palavras de Yahweh, que foram proclamadas pelas mãos do profeta Jeremias.
3Assim, o rei Zedequias enviou Jeucal, filho de Selemias e Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, ao profeta Jeremias, para lhe dizerem: "Ore em nosso favor para Yahweh, nosso Deus".
4Jeremias estava indo e vindo entre as pessoas, pois não havia sido preso ainda.
5O exército do Faraó saíra do Egito, e quando os caldeus, que sitiavam Jerusalém, ouviram a notícia sobre eles, deixaram a cidade.
6Então, veio a palavra de Yahweh a Jeremias, o profeta, dizendo:
7"Yahweh, o Deus de Israel, diz: 'Isto é o que tu dirás ao rei de Judá, porque ele te enviou para buscar Meu conselho: Vê, o exército do Faraó, que veio para te ajudar, está prestes a voltar para o Egito, a sua própria terra.
8Os caldeus irão retornar, lutarão contra essa cidade, a conquistarão e a queimarão.'
9Yahweh diz isto: Não se enganem dizendo: 'Os caldeus com certeza estão nos deixando'. Porque eles, certamente, não irão embora.
10Mesmo que derrotásseis todo o exército babilônico, que luta contra vós, até que só homens feridos sejam deixados em suas tendas, eles se levantariam e queimariam esta cidade."
11Foi então que o exército babilônico deixou Jerusalém enquanto o exército do Faraó estava vindo;
12então, Jeremias saiu de Jerusalém para ir à terra de Benjamim. Ele queria tomar posse de um pedaço de terra lá entre seu povo.
13Enquanto ele estava no Portão de Benjamim, um capitão da guarda que estava lá – seu nome era Jerias, filho de Selemias, filho de Hananias – agarrou o profeta Jeremias e disse: "Tu estás fugindo para o lado dos babilônios."
14Mas Jeremias disse: "Isso não é verdade. Eu não estou fugindo para o lado dos babilônios". Mas Jerias não o escutou. Prendeu Jeremias e o levou aos oficiais.
15Os oficiais estavam bravos com Jeremias. Eles o açoitaram e o colocaram na casa de Jônatas, o escriba, que havia sido transformada em uma prisão.
16Jeremias foi colocado numa cela subterrânea, onde ficou por muitos dias.
17Então, o rei Zedequias mandou alguém trazê-lo ao palácio. Em sua casa, o rei perguntou-lhe secretamente: "Há alguma palavra de Yahweh?"Jeremias respondeu: "Há uma palavra: Tu serás entregue na mão do rei da Babilônia."
18Então, Jeremias disse ao rei Zedequias: "Qual foi meu pecado contra ti, contra teus servos ou contra este povo para que me pusesses na prisão?
19Onde estão os teus profetas, aqueles que profetizaram para ti e disseram que o rei da Babilônia não atacará a vós, nem a esta terra?
20Mas, agora, escute, meu senhor, ó rei! Deixo meu pedido diante de ti. Não me coloques novamente na casa de Jônatas, o escriba, senão morrerei lá."
21Então, o rei Zedequias deu uma ordem. Seus servos confinaram Jeremias no pátio da guarda. Um pedaço de pão era entregue a ele todos os dias, da rua dos padeiros, até que todo o pão da cidade acabasse. E Jeremias permaneceu no pátio da guarda.

1Y REINÓ el rey Sedechîas hijo de Josías, en lugar de Conías hijo de Joacim, al cual Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había constituído por rey en la tierra de Judá.
2Mas no obedeció él, ni sus siervos, ni el pueblo de la tierra á las palabras de Jehová, que dijo por el profeta Jeremías.
3Y envió el rey Sedechîas á Jucal hijo de Selemías, y á Sephanías hijo de Maasías sacerdote, para que dijesen al profeta Jeremías: Ruega ahora por nosotros á Jehová nuestro Dios.
4Y Jeremías entraba y salía en medio del pueblo; porque no lo habían puesto en la casa de la cárcel.
5Y como el ejército de Faraón hubo salido de Egipto, y vino la fama de ellos á oídos de los Caldeos que tenían cercada á Jerusalem, partiéronse de Jerusalem.
6Entonces fué palabra de Jehová á Jeremías profeta, diciendo:
7Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Diréis así al rey de Judá, que os envió á mí para que me preguntaseis: He aquí que el ejército de Faraón que había salido en vuestro socorro, se volvió á su tierra en Egipto.
8Y tornarán los Caldeos, y combatirán esta ciudad, y la tomarán, y la pondrán á fuego.
9Así ha dicho Jehová: No engañéis vuestras almas, diciendo: Sin duda los Caldeos se han ido de nosotros: porque no se irán.
10Porque aun cuando hirieseis todo el ejército de los Caldeos que pelean con vosotros, y quedasen de ellos hombres alanceados, cada uno se levantará de su tienda, y pondrán esta ciudad á fuego.
11Y aconteció que, como el ejército de los Caldeos se fué de Jerusalem á causa del ejército de Faraón,
12Salíase de Jerusalem Jeremías para irse á tierra de Benjamín, para apartarse de allí en medio del pueblo.
13Y cuando fué á la puerta de Benjamín, estaba allí un prepósito que se llamaba Irías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, el cual prendió á Jeremías profeta, diciendo: Tú te retiras á los Caldeos.
14Y Jeremías dijo: Falso: no me retiro á los Caldeos. Mas él no lo escuchó, antes prendió Irías á Jeremías, y llevólo delante de los príncipes.
15Y los príncipes se airaron contra Jeremías, y azotáronle, y pusiéronle en prisión en la casa de Jonathán escriba, porque aquélla habían hecho casa de cárcel.
16Entró pues Jeremías en la casa de la mazmorra, y en las camarillas. Y habiendo estado allá Jeremías por muchos días,
17El rey Sedechîas envió, y sacóle; y preguntóle el rey escondidamente en su casa, y dijo: ¿Hay palabra de Jehová? Y Jeremías dijo: Hay. Y dijo más: En mano del rey de Babilonia serás entregado.
18Dijo también Jeremías al rey Sedechîas: ¿En qué pequé contra ti, y contra tus siervos, y contra este pueblo, para que me pusieseis en la casa de la cárcel?
19¿Y dónde están vuestros profetas que os profetizaban, diciendo: No vendrá el rey de Babilonia contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra?
20Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.
21Entonces dió orden el rey Sedechîas, y depositaron á Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, haciéndole dar una torta de pan al día, de la plaza de los Panaderos, hasta que todo el pan de la ciudad se gastase. Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.

1And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
3And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.
5Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
6Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
10For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
13And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
14Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
16When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
17Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
19Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

1Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the LORD’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
3Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “Pray now to the LORD our God for us.”
4Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people, for they had not put him into prison.
5Pharaoh’s army had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.
6Then the LORD’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
7“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.
8The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’
9“The LORD says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.
10For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”
11When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
12then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the middle of the people.
13When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
14Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.
16When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
17then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
18Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
19Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?
20Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
